But things are slow so I'm trying to lively up ourselves.
What are your five, and only five, favorite songs? I don't want to get into an argument about the "best" songs, just your personal favorites. And if you want to add in a why about the songs, all the better.
I can't really come up with an order for my top 5, so in no particular order.
The Beatles - Revolution
The first time I heard this song was when Nike used in an ad, 15 or so years ago. I don't remember the commercial, but I instantly took a shining to the song.
The Rolling Stones - Paint it Black
No matter how many times I've heard it, I never seem to get sick of it.
Led Zepplin - Going to California
Simplicity at its best.
Pearl Jam - Given to Fly
Like Going to California, a real simple guitar line; one that rises and falls like the wave mentioned in the song.
Alice in Chains - Grind
This was the first song I heard off of their eponymous fourth album. At the time everybody was doubting that they had anything left in them due to Layne's heroin use. To come out with "In the darkest hole, you'd be well advised, not to plan my funeral before the body dies," just killed. For a while I even incorporated "Let the sun never blind your eyes, let me sleep so my teeth don't grind," into my nightly prayers.
