If you needed a case solved in televisionland, what detective would you want to solve the crime and which would you want to frisk you or do other cavity searches?

Rules: Doesn't have to be a show currently on the air. You have to answer both questions. Must be TV - no movies or miniseries. Cable does count.
I will allow Federal Agents and even those CSI guys if you must.

(Hey, you didn't say we couldn't choose from cartoons. And the cartoon Batman is kinda hot. Plus he always seems to solve the case.)
