Has anyone watched "Big Love" on HBO yet? This is the show where Bill Paxson is a polygamist and is married to Chloe Sevigne, Marsha Gay Harden, and Ginnifer Goodwin.
We watched it last night and my sig-other looks at me and proclaims ANY man that wants more than one wife to deal with officially nuts.

My friends have watched it and they think the show is actually pretty boring. I have yet to check it out since I am not home on Sunday. God bless On Demand.

I can't say I disagree. It isn't exciting, but it certainly is wierd. Especially considering that there are people who really live this way.

I think it is a great concept to discuss, but with the negative backlash and the reviews, it might not last that long. And, I think it is a total 180 from the Sopranos, so who knows who sticks it out.
I want to check it out because I think Paxton is a pretty good actor... well, sometimes.

I want to check it out because I think Paxton is a pretty good actor... well, sometimes.Bill went to high school in this neighborhood, so everybody around here is pulling for the show to be a hit. I am not sure it has enough oomph to work, but I also like watching him. He caught my eye in Frality especially.
Wierd point of trivia...where Bill Paxson went to high school (Arlington Heights, Fort Worth) is where John Denver went and Lee Harvey Oswald dropped out of. How is that for a goofy combo?
i love me some Bill Paxton. He's in one of the best Vampire movies ever... "Near Dark" or maybe Dawn, i always mix it up (an imdb search would clear it up, but frankly i'm way to lazy for that) since i don't get the "good" cable, i wont be able to watch it, but i hope it does well.
I saw a thing on 60 minutes a few weeks ago about this Mormon Polygomist community in Utah somewhere were everyone was on Welfare because of all the kids they had. And how the state wouldn't procecute the people there. It also went into all the sexual abuse that goes on in those communites. pretty good show actually.

I've watched the first two episodes and can't say I'm impressed. Not a whole lot there to bring me back each week. By no means the replacement for Six Feet Under like it was supposed to be. But it's after Sopranos and there isn't much on at that time so I'll probably end up watching it, but the characters just seem too stereo typed for me.

We had HBO for the weekend and so I figured that I would watch it. I thought that it was a real show. I wanted to see some freaky polygamists. As soon as I realized that it was fiction I changed it.
Oh, and polygamy is what happens when you allow gays to marry...or something like that. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/16/AR2006031601312.html)
It's not what happens, but it will be next to be legalized.
That was the point of Krauthammer's piece and he made a strong arguement why it will be so.
I have to admit that i gave Dictionary.com a workout whilst reading that article.

I don't see it that way. Being gay is not a choice, having multiple wives is.
But are you going to be able to convince everyone of that? no. To a lot of people, being gay is seen as a choice.

Yeah, but those same people believe that the earth is only 5000 years old, so they're crazy.
You mean it's not!!!!

Here's (http://nationaljournal.com/rauch.htm) another article explaining differences between same-sex marriage and polygamy.

I don't see it that way. Being gay is not a choice, having multiple wives is.
But, if the choice is between allowing these innocent young women to burn in Hell, or marrying them, is that really a choice? ;)

When you put it that way...
