Well the show is coming to an end.
This is very sad for me. I love the West Wing. It has been one of the best shows on TV for as long as I can remember. I guess with Leo gone it would have been impossible to go on though. Anyway, I am not sure if anyone here watches the show, but it looks like everything is coming together the way the fans have hoped. Josh and Donna will be together, CJ and Danny will be together, and Sam is going to come back and tell us about what happened to him.
I am going to miss this show.

I adore The West Wing too, but I am STILL only up to the end of season 4. The last 15 mins of the final episode of season 3 is possibly my favourite piece of television ever (The "Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah Montage").
I never could get into The West Wing. If I want to watch Martin Sheen, I'll throw in Apocalypse Now.

Martian is not in the show as much as the other cast members. It mainly followed them around. That is not to say that he was not a HUGE part of the show, but it would not be uncommon to go a show or two without seeing him. Or only seeing him for about 10 mins a show. Josh was the star of the West Wing. Josh, Donna, Tobey, Sam, and CJ. For the first four seasons it was bliss. Then Sam left.

I had the same reaction early on. I didn't start watching the show until the third season, then caught up with it in reruns on Bravo. I love it.
You're a political junkie. You'll like it. The writing during the Sorkin-era is exceptionally sharp.

I watched it for a couple of seasons. The last episode I remember watching was the one where they spend the whole episode explaining to high school students why 9/11 happened. It wasn't ever a must watch show for me and eventually just fell off the radar entirely.
Once the series is over and all on dvd, I might just netflix it and watch the whole thing over a few months like I did with Sopranos.
