Ever own a movie on VHS and then bought it on DVD?

Now-a-days we all have fallen prey to such marketing, but how many of you can say you have owned a movie on BETAMAX, VHS and DVD?

Well as of today (Feb 21st 2006) I can say I have owned one film on all three.

Being a child of the 80's I was overly obsessed with the cult movie Class of 1984. Originally I had a recorded version on BETAMAX that I quickly traded in once I found a used copy of it on VHS.

Now nearly 20 years later I have picked up a copy of CLASS OF 1984: Special Edition at Best Buy (for only $12.99:D ) and have completed the cycle (well until HD or Blu-ray over take DVD).

Anyone else been through this cycle? :o

I have been through the cycle, but in music not movies. I have owned quite a few albums on Cassette, Vinyl, and CD. Pearl Jam Ten comes to mind.

I did have 8-tracks of somethings that I now own in other formats too.

We never had a Beta when I was growing up. Just the VHS.

You have TEN on vinyl????

that's dope

NO BETAMAX, lucky!!! (yeah, my family thought BETAMAX was going to win out, much to our luck it didn't and we had fun re-purchasing most of our BETAMAX movies on VHS, which in the 80's was not cheap at all :( )

yeah, VHS movies were selling for upwards of $100 depending on the title back in the day, as most of the purchasing was being done by rental businesses.

I do have Ten on vinyl. I have lots of unusal things on vinyl, actually. Many of which are new and many are thanks to Robbo working at a kick ass record store where he can special order things for me.

I wonder if any other businesses have thought of that?

or visit VHS to DVD (http://www.vhs-to-dvd.com/vhs-to-dvd.html) and transfer your home video tapes to dvd. You can get a pretty good conversion at a reasonable price from a lot of places. But what are most of these companies lacking? Care and attention to detail! Other ways you get totally amateurish product done with domestic equipment.
