View Full Version : Request for new forums - post them here
For as long as I can remember we've only had 2 forums around here: Off-Topic and Movie Poop Shoot columns.
I'm not the world's most organized person but I thought getting a few more forum topics in here wouldn't hurt and would probably make things easier to read.
I've added a couple fairly general ones:

I think this is the most I've seen of Ming in one day since the first time I met him at comicon. I know you're always here, always watching, but haven't seen posts from you in a while.

I would suggest a shamless plugs forum as we have tons of newbies who come here to promote themselves and this way if they are all in there we can ignore them better.

One thing i'll say is games forum, we don't need one really since we seldom talk about them and if we do, it's generally in regards to the week's Game On! column.
Fangirl: you're right about Ming, there is an overflow of his presence here today, I feel like he's the Emporer and we just Jumped from episode IV to the last half of episode VI in a nanosecond

When the site first started (version 1 of the boards) we had about 30 forums. We had one for practically every column and potential topic. I loved that format because it allowed one to go down the line of the forum tree and pretty much read a discussion about an article... it often made me want to read an article I might have otherwise skipped.
As for what forum should be created... one called "Flame Razorback" would be nice.
How about a books forum?

Yeah, I haven't had much time to read many books as of late, and those I have started, I haven't finished, but it would be nice to have a place to comment about them that would disappear in the flood of other threads that appear every day.

DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!! I need to log in here more often. I was going to reference Dmoney, but you beat me to it.
I actually rented Doom last night. I didn't think I was going to like it much, but it was actually pretty good.
The tactics used by the marines were pretty accurate and I liked that "Sarge" didn't let a little thing like morality get in the way of him completing his mission.
The main thing I didn't like though was that "Sarge" kept calling his marines "soldiers". "Soldiers" is a reference to Army grunts. A marine would never be caught dead calling another marine "Soldier".

Let me tell you how a real spammer works. They dont post. They go into the member list and take your e mail address and URL if their savvy enough. Then they email you.Usually to get your hard earned money.I'm not e mailing anyone and I'm not selling anything.As far as my post goes.Its in a thread by it self. If it dosent interest you then dont read it. If you dont want to look at my film, dont click on the link.I'm not forceing anything on anyone and I dont want your money. Believe it or not,I look up to Kevin Smith as an independent film maker who made it.I may not make it, not because I didnt try. I just thought a site based around Kevin Smith might be friendly toward an independent film maker(lousy or not). If you do judge the film as not any good, I wonder what your film would be like? Or if you even have the balls to try and open yourself up to others put downs.I'm sure as hell not quiting and I'm also seeing if I can develop my skills.One day I may put out one that blows everyone away, in that case you can tell every one you told me way back I suck and I am a spamer.If I fail, at least I tried, did you?

Oh dont worry By-Tor, if they want to get rid of me they'll have to ban me.I dont discourage easily. I appreciate that you asked me to stick around tho. I also worked on another film this week and plan to post a link when I'm done (thats right). If I'm banned its back to TROMA or Fangoria, they kind of like independent folks working on film projects. Although I dont want to be banned, I like the site, I like Kevins movies, and I'm not mad at any one.Sometimes I get the impression some folks here are mad at me, and it wasnt my mission to tick anyone off.
Nobody hates you- it's just that we get testy when someone with less than a dozen posts starts pimping their wares. I've been here for three years and I still haven't mentioned my independent film (or maybe I have, I can't remember and I don't really feel like looking it up- besides, it was a self-indulgent piece of crap- it only won one award) Stick around, get to know the people before you say "Hey lookit what I did!" Your experience will be richer and more enjoyable.

If your first post is a link to anything, it's going to piss a lot of people off, because we all know that the thread is a waste of space. In fact, if you do some searching, you'll find a slew of threads where spammers get all defensive about the members getting upset at their pimping. I've seen countless threads where the spammer says, "I just found this site and here's what I did," and then say, "You can be upset all you want, I'm not going anywhere," only to disappear by the next week.
I've read this type of thread way too many times, so it seems that's exactly what you're doing. If you really are legit, and want to post here that's cool. It's going to take a long time to convince me to think you're nothing but a troll, but if you really want to be a member of this thread then it won't be a problem. However, this pattern tends to repeat itself, and when you stop posting at the end of the week (maybe next), it's not going to be a surprise.

I hear you guys. Honestly it was my motivation to get feed back on a small project I did. I was kind of hoping for constructive critisim.But alas it is the internet, so one must expect the Fuck you Scum bag reaction too.As far as pimping goes, pimps get paid. I dont. I really dislike SPAM myself.It did bother me to be called a SPAMMER.So I looked up what defines a SPAMMER, and it wasnt me. SPAMMERS usually dont want you to know who they are. My picture is included on every post if you want to see it. I have to say that the movie was terrible. Get a friggen steadycam, they aren't hadr to build yourself with a welder, or at least a friggen tripod on wheels. The entire time I was watching it I felt like I was going to vomit.
Soundtrack was awfull as well.

I'm new at posting so I might be out of line here, but doesn't the shoot need some new content? After the "horsemen" left, the shoot seems to be a little lacking. I hope it can return to its place as the #1 entertainment site I check daily, but that remains to be seen.

It's not online. It never will be. It took second place in the advanced experimental division at the Lamar University film festival in Beaumont TX in 2001, mainly for the lighting and camera work (I was DP as well as director) The judges didn't care for the script- which is okay- I didn't write it. But no- it'll never be online.
