I think all should appreciate Nine Inch Nails' music. It's good stuff, and every album has at least 5 years worth of work put into it making every sound in each song sound perfect. Every once in awhile there are shitty songs from his albums (Star****ers inc. and the hand that feeds for example) but overall Trent Reznor never dissapoints with each album he releases.

Well, since I went to my first Nails concert at 16, and I am 28 now, I think you are approximately 12 years behind the times. But it's good that you found them. ;)
I recall your whole Marilyn Manson phase. How did you start with him and not find Nails and realize how much Manson sucked the big fat commerical teat?

Apart from the remix albums, I think every album he's made stands strong. They each have a different vibe to them. The Fragile is a bit long, though definitely an interesting journey. My favourite album is still The Downward Spiral. His new album, With Teeth, was really accessible and presented a less chaotic sounding mix. I love his catchy hooks, and dark tones. Anyone who's interested in his music should check out the live dvd, And all that could have been... It's a monster of a show. Best music dvd I own.

I'm still not much of a fan of With Teeth. I think The Fragile is one of the greatest albums of our generation though.

One of my friends keeps forgetting that he's told me that he got the best and worst albums of 2005 for Christmas. With Teeth being the best and Korn's new one being the worst. I believe him on the Korn count, but not on the NIN one. I've never been a big enough fan to waste money on one of their albums. Plus, that Thelonius Monk Quartet with John Coltrane album came out last year, so he's obviously lying.

Yeah, I do believe you are right about your friend. With Teeth is just not a very good album. I think Trent was a little influenced by Goldfrapp, and if so, too much for his own good. Goldfrapp put out Supernature last year (Europe only) and it SMOKES With Teeth in the electronic pop category.

I remember in high school a friend saying she was listening to Nine Inch Nails and I said that sounded like a chick band (since I was thinking finger nails).
I still think Johnny Cash singing that NIN song made that far more dark and deep than Trent could have ever made it.

I'd listen to With Teeth more times than I'd listen to The Fragile. It's way more consistent. Then again, probably against the general consensus of the majority, I thought the new Korn album is their best since Follow The Leader. It really feels like they've accomplished what they were trying to do with the album Issues, though it's taken them till now to do it.

I've liked them for years, ever since Pretty Hate Machine, so the head's up wasn't neccessary. Btw, there's a band just coming on the scene called Limp Bizkit. Their mix of rap and metal is gonna be huge.:D

comparing limp bizkit to nine inch nails is the most deplorable thing you have ever done. it's like comparing *NSYNC to the beatles, it's just wrong.

He was not comparing their music by the way, it was a joke about how far behind the times you are.

I have tickets to see them here coming up. I didn't buy them so I forgot to look when. The last time I saw there show I was 16 and Marilyn Manson opened for them. Good lord that was 12 years ago!
That would've been a good concert to see. :)
I haven't seen them yet, so I'm looking forward to it. I think the band Peaches is opening up for them at the one I'm going to. I've never heard Peaches, hope they are good.

NIN is awesome, I was never did goth out at school but I listen to album after album. I saw them on the last swing through Denver and I think I am going again; the show is so expansive it is almost hard to attach to (this is a good thing).
Korn *sigh* one of my favorite bands in high school, dropped off for me quite a bit. They just got too formulaic, that is one thing that I just have a hard time dealing with. I don’t mind if a band gets away from their original fan base as long as they keep evolving.
Peaches is an interesting show, I saw her open for QotSA and …Trail of Dead, experimental electronica/post punk/industrial if I remember correctly, very sexually driven, almost foul. She does the background song in Lost in Translation when Bill Murry’s character is in the titty (http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/wma-pop-up/B00006L3HS001001/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_001/102-0253151-9696929) bar (I think this is the one).

We loved Korn in high school and now I can't stand to hear anything from them later than Follow the Leader.

Agreed. We loved Korn in high school and now I can't stand to hear anything from them later than Follow the Leader.I ain't calling shenanigans, but every song they release these days is nearly a carbon copy of the last song they released. Pigeon-fuckin'-holed.

Which would be ok if they were copying their good songs...
