Has anyone heard the rumour that Jack Black is signed on to play the lead in DC's Green Lantern movie? If so, any further details. I heard of this from a friend who got a pic from another friend where Jack Black's face had been superimposed on a pic of Green Lantern. He said it was an artist's concept of what Black would look like. I haven't seen it myself yet, but the whole idea seemed crazy enough to believe.
*** No, seriously, does anyone have any leads on this? I mean, i like jack black too, but I dont want to listen to you guys toss his salad. Has anyone got any leads on this rumoured G.L. movie?

I sure hope not. I can't stand Jack Black when he plays a serious charachter, or pretty much any charachter other than the one he played in Shallow Hal or School of Rock.

I hate that the guy gets a bum rap for playing the same character. The dude blew me away in Orange County. I mean he's a way better stoner/slacker than Pauly Shore ever was. Is it that some of you don't like that character, or the fact that the guy's just goofy as hell 24/7?

Did I just post a mention of Pauly Shore? May God have mercy on my soul.

Aww, shit, I have enjoyed a few things Shore has done. And yeah, he usually plays the same guy every time, too.

Oh, and while I'm talking weasal, my friends "made" me go see him in Vegas once. He was there, we were there. Anyway, the bastard was pretty damn good.

I am a card-carrying Jack Black fan.
I love the guy, more for his Tenacious D work although I like him in pretty much every movie I've seen him in (except Shallow Hal).
I know I've mentioned it here before, but I must reiterate that seeing Tenacious D live on the two occasions they came to Ireland were a couple of the best nights out I've ever had.
JB has far more charisma and energy onstage than most "serious" rock lead men.
And I even liked him in King Kong, so :p.

I think, like you(I think), that the guy is a great performer. Maybe not a "great" actor(yet), but a great performer. It really shows with the Tenacious D stuff. He 'attacks" that shit with a fervor. Never seen 'em live, but what I've seen on TV, and so on, was very entertaining.

Jack Black is getting a bit overexposed right now, but the man is a musical/comedic genius and anyone who thinks differently should have their ass kicked by karate from here to Tiananmen Square.

Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
A man is born, he's a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.

But they got, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

Everybody's got a special kind of story
Everybody finds a way to shine,
It don't matter that you got not alot
So what,
They'll have theirs, and you'll have yours, and I'll have mine.
And together we'll be fine....

Because it takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.
Yes it does.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.:):):)

I've looked into this a bit more, seen a couple altered pics were Black's head was superimposed on a green lantern pic, one sucked, one looked good. Anywho, a link I found mentioned that WB wants to make this a zany comedy, a la "The Mask", and that DC has no say in the creative process. I'll post the link later when i find it again, however it seems another superhero will be "F'd in the A" thanks to idiotic movie producers.

Actually, Iceland hasn't changed all that much since Humans have inhabited it, Greenland is actually nearly covered in ice and show.

I don't know if it was a misprint on maps that stuck, or if they were purposely named what they were in order to deter people from going to Iceland.

Actually, Greenland was green and fertile when the Norsemen migrated there. It wasn't until later, when the climate changed (the Mini Ice Age) that the pack ice moved in, the ground froze and the Vikings all died out.

Imagine that, the world used to be warmer than it is now...

No, I watched it on the History Channel (http://store.aetv.com/html/product/index.jhtml?id=74653). And read about it here (http://jrscience.wcp.muohio.edu/Weather/PaperProposalArticles/TheLittleIceAgewasitbigen.html), here (http://www.agu.org/revgeophys/mayews01/node5.html), and here (http://calspace.ucsd.edu/virtualmuseum/climatechange2/04_3.shtml), for starters. There's thousands of articles and accounts about the Little Ice Age. Historical fact, not lefty-environ-mental wacko bullshit as you seem to be implying. Far from it- it disproves the "global warming is man's fault" bullshit fairly well in my book. Logically, we could deduce that the world is actualy returning to a "normal" climate, but with the recent extreme winter weather, this "little Ice Age" could actually be reasserting itself.

I feel I have to jump in.

Any smart person won't say "global warming is man's fault." What we are saying is that we are accelerating the process. Will this matter? Who knows, but it seems like we should at least try to protect our planet.

I don't know about that, it's in the Mid 60's here today... I did hear that it was snowing in Hawai'i though.... I think it's the sign of the end times, myself.

I was just pointing out that Greenland was, in fact, green at one point. Wouldn't the world be a better place with more green? That's what every tree huggin' fool wants, isn't it? Maybe we're to blame for the cooling. We destroyed the pristeen greenness of that great land and it should be restored to that state!

Green is good, warm is great... I'll take the global warming, no ice age for me thanks.

I just think the earth is twirling differently. Maybe it's shifting it's axis or tilting a little more to the right, left, up or down. It may explain why the location of the poles have been shifting and weather everywhere has gotten all screwy.

I have actually been considering the prospect of Jack Black as Green Lantern and I think it could work. Although I think it would have to be very tongue in cheek space comedy with a style akin to Casino Royal, and Elf. The idea of it being very 60’s in tone and set entirely in space could work, but you would have to have one hell of a set designer and director or else it wouldn’t work.

Quick side note about a year and a half ago I was sitting with some friends discussing movie out there right now and I decided the world was begging for a completely over the top Will Ferrell wrestling film. Flash forward to last night when I found the trailer for the Jack Black wrestling film Nacho Libre http://www.aintitcool.com/Nacho_medium_vid.html . Let’s hope my Snoop Dog saves Christmas idea never gets made.
