View Full Version : How old is the planet again?
I keep hearing these clownshoes on the news expressing how this is the worst hurricane season EVER...
How in The Hell do they know that? Do they have a magic time machine? Does their doppler radar have a rewind button going back all those eons? Monitoring these storms has barely even begun as a science when the age of this planet is taken into account. Not to mention the relatively small amount of time we humans have been around, cowering from the thunder and lightening and running from the flood waters. Do these asses honestly believe there were no hurricanes before mankind came down out of the trees or rose up out of the desert and turned the ignition key in a big ol' SUV?
Bullshit. The weather man can barely tell the temperature, let alone somehow be instilled with the knowledge that this was the worst hurricane season in the history of this world.
Maybe it's just poor semantics on the part of the media (and I don't believe that for one minute- I think they purposely chose to say 'ever') If the headlines had said "worst hurricane season on record", I might not have anything to say- but these jackasses aren't saying that.
They're all finks...
By the way, I'm back. Sorta. Kinda. In a roundabout way...

Yeah, it is ridiculous, but they must somehow fill time. Acting like global warming is causing this sells advertisements. Plus, Hollywood can make a few movies.

I think it's what they mean when they say "Worst hurricane season ever." They mean it's "the worst one on record." I've heard most of them follow up with "Since weather records were kept, about 150 years. " When was the last time you remember them going to the greek alphabet to name storms ?
You know as well I do the news has to sensationalize to sell advertising time. They're only interested in keeping us glued to our sets.
My jury is still out on whether human activity contributes to global warming. As Kay Bailey Hutchinson would say "Let's not rush to Judgment here."
It's just another gimmick. The earth is fine, it's lasted longer than any of us humans. It obviously knows how to wipe out existence of a species it doesn't like. The weather people are just getting bored and have to find ways to spruce things up a bit. Make things sound more interesting, get people to worry so they tune in to find out what is going on. Not that we need anything else to worry about, but it works for marketing. It's all just commercialism.
Everyone is either, trying to sell something or being tricked into buying it.
Oh, and nice to have you back jk.

I have this site bookmarked for a reason. And that reason is to have a handy dandy resource for actual empirical, scientific data about hurricanes from the foremost authority on the subject. This comes in handy when e-fighting with the loonies who think The Day After Tomorrow is a documentary.

er aren't they saying it's the worst hurricane season on record. meaning since they started recording hurricane seasons? they are here

That was the whole point of my rant- some of these idiots are saying 'ever' and not 'on record'. And you just know the Day After Tomorrow Documentary crowd are eating it up, even if it's just a case of some weather bimbo mispeaking.

I love that the foremost authority on hurricanes is a school in Colorado. Doesn't make any sense, but I gots to have some state pride.
My jury is still out on whether human activity contributes to global warming.Really? There is no doubt in my mind that we are contributing to it. To what degree? I have no idea, nor does anybody else, but we are definitely contributing.

Like they say in the Lilo and Stitch movie, "Earth is extremely fragile. Everytime they get hit by a meteor they have to start all over again."
None of this weather stuff matters when Skynet goes active anyway.

Well I bumped my air boat into a levee while sipping a Daquiri. Gimme a break! I had to swerve to avoid an alligator.

I drove my chevy to the levee but they were dry after you left...totally out of Daquiri's. I had to settle for a mango tango thingie and then I blamed FEMA for their lack of response time on gettin' me my alcohol.

See, you always know the two things that keep me happy in this world...alcohol and thinly veiled innuendo. :)

There was an awesome animated short. Can remember the name, but had this awesome line where one character lose it and screams "There are blind people with no fingers who are better that shadow puppets than you."
