“The American Avant Garde”, a Seattle-based television program produced and hosted by Karl Krogstand, has just aired a show focusing on the 1st Annual Seattle True Independent Film Festival (STIFF) which took place in Seattle this last June.
The show includes interviews with me and my big mug and Jeffrey French, whose film “Win Each Way” took home the STIFF Award for “Best Cinematography”.
The show airs every Thursday night on Seattle Channel (Comcast 21), and can also be seen on BCC 28 (Bellevue, WA) and in San Francisco, on EATV (Cable Channel 27).
Or... you simply click on the link below to view it on your desktop (RealVideo).
“The American Avant Garde” is a pretty cool show, especially if you’re interested in independent filmmaking.
This particular show has some great stuff in it, particularly the Weekend Challenge coverage. The interviews with Jeffrey and I appear at the following (approximate) times...
00:45 – 03:55 – first interview with Clint Berquist
08:30 – 14:20 – interview with Jeffrey French, including clips from “Win Each Way”
26:05 – 26:50 – second interview with Clint Berquist

then click on "Season 2, Show #6" (9/30/2005). It's the latest show, currently at the top.
Enjoy!

BAH! I can't see it because I don't have Real Player at work. I will check it out at home.
I think it sucks that I once wrote a security policy here that now bans me from having any fun on my own. There should have been a exception clause when security applies to everyone else BUT me. :)

Yeah! I can finally see...
Note: For those of you who clicked and thought it wasn't loading, it takes a minute or so to fire up...even on my connection which is pretty quick.
Great interview :) [Zen pinches C.B.'s cheeks] How cool do you feel now? I can tell that I don't think too much about Seattle, because I never realized that SIF was such a big deal. So you do STIFF during the same time frame? Makes sense to me...use the traffic that is already there for SIF and catch the people who are interested in the more *ahem* avant guarde films at the same time.
I do have one very important question that I need answered however...
Is it possible for a woman who "is not, nor has ever been pregnant" to lactate? I am DYING to know. I am also dying to know how come I don't get cool party tricks like that embedded in my DNA.

Thansk for taking the time to watch it!
I feel way more fat than cool. I have had many salads since first watching it. But, it was pretty neat to see that people dedicated a whole half hour TV show to an idea that came out of my head. And, it was also neat to think that many of those filmmakers wouldn't have gotten that coverage (in SF and Seattle) if it wasn't for the hard work of everyone involved with pulling off the festival. It came at just the right time as we are planning our next fest.
Plus, the host Karl Krogstadt is a Seattle institution. He is a really talented filmmaker and he got sued by the city a few years back for hanging up all these posters that said, "Karl Krogstadt - Filmmaker!". AND HE BEAT CITY HALL! He is one of the real rebel filmmaker pioneers in town.
SIFF is a really big deal in Seattle. In the indy filmaker's bible that is Chris Gore's book, SIFF is listed as one of the top ten festivals in the US. STIFF is strategically held opposite of SIFF to capitalize on the energy in the city and I really hope that it can become the 'Slamdance of Seattle'. We are well on the way.
As far as the last question goes, I can't really be sure if it is possible. I may have just been lied to. Be patient though Danial-san... Won't be too long til you get some party tricks goin' :)
