Chris Ryall often mentions that he gets lots of people offering to write for the site.
My question is, if you did get a chance to write for the poop shoot, what type of comlumn would it be?
Personally I would write about the Film course I'll be doing in college from September.
But that wouldnt be very interesting...

I'd do something on sports. Possibly the fantasy side of it. Unfortunately the funny book/sports audience tends not to cross mingle. Try bringing up the new direction Wolverine is taking during the 7th inning stretch at the ballpark and see the looks you get or discussing the intricacies of the cover 2 at the local comiccon.

I would say anime but I havent watched any for ages so skip that and I instead would probably review games, which again not good cause I am very anti-X-box. I dont think I know enough about anything to really write an article or review regarding anything. I'll leave it to the pro's and the up and the promising amatuers

I guess I would review stand-up comedy acts. That or porn. On second thought, probably just porn.

I definitly think that the site needs some sports on it. I think that sports have become just as much a part of pop culture as movies and music. Page 2 on espn.com seems to do this pretty well. The writers seem to have roughly the same sense of humor as the writers here at the shoot, but they mainly talk about sports. Hunter S. Thompson even has an article there. I just need a one stop site instead of having to go to a whopping two sites.

The problem with sports as a column, I think, would be that it is very regional
I mean if I were to review, lets say, the Manchester United v. Liverpool F.C. match on Saturday there would not be many people in America who would have the slightest clue what I'm on about
Films, comics etc are much more universal and would be accessible to pretty much anyone

Trailer Trash: Sort of a Title Bout for movie trailers and commercials...only funnier and more socially significant.

oooooo, wait are you saying that A.K. isnt socially significant?

But yeah, the commercial idea is pretty good

I would write about bears because they are scary and have claws and go "grrr"
or no-budget filmmaking, either way very scary

Yeah a column about someone trying to film a movie on no-budget would be interesting
And, amazingly enough, you might be able to write more than one (hint hint Kevin /forums/images/icons/grin.gif )

I've been trying to sell Chris on a sports column for a while now. However, thus far he has resisted my clumsy advances. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif I've also been forced over to ESPN's Page Two for my funny sports fix. Bastards!

"Sell" me on a sports column...? Hmm...I bet if you'd offer money, I could make it happen.
I just think that, in this post-KAZAAM era in which we live, the sports-entertainment connection is shaky enough as it it, I just can't quite seem to find the right angle on how to tackle it here.
However, I'm still not opposed to a porn-entertainment column, not if it'll get me onto a movie shoot or two.

I think if youre going to really tackle a sports column, you need not to get into specifics and numbers. Chris knows Id like to write a sports column here - I remind him every week it seems like. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
Basically you have to have an angle, and not bore people.
When that doesnt work....swear like there is no tomorrow.

"KAZAAM" -- HA! That is gold.
How about a career retrospective on the films of Brian "The Boz" Bosworth?

I was thinking a Sports Guy/Jim Caple-esque column would be great over here. Page 2 is seriously lacking since Sports Guy left.

Yeah, I was envisioning a Sports Guy type deal as well. He still does the occasional piece at Page 2, but they aren't quite what they once were. Damn Jimmy Kimmel for stealing him away.

I keep waiting for him to pop up on that show. Maybe then I can quit watching it. I still don't see how they use there writers on there. Not like they have skits or anything writen for that matter.

I would gladly make a 'Monetary Donation to a Charity of Your Choosing' for a column. *cough*payola*cough*

It's amazing how I was skimming the page and the "porn-entertainment column" mention just jumped out at me.
Go for it, Chris. Mainstream media has to accept the site sooner or later. Suckers.

if i could i would try and get info on behind the scenes on some famous movie stars or singers to let people know more about them but not go to far so that i would ruin them unless they sucked ass and deserveed to have that happen to them like Micheal Jackson.
