I'm waiting for something better! Eldest. The second book in the Inheritance Trilogy. The first book was called Eragon, and it FREAKIN' ROCKED! Anyway, Eldest is out in 23 days, and the Eragon movie starts filming tomorrow! So far, I know that the movie has Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich in it. Shall rule, that it shall!

My 9 year old has been through the first 5 once or twice each, and is almost done with #6. She was disappointed that #6 was shorter than #5 because, until it came out, each book had had more pages than the one before it. My 6 year old is finished with #1 and halfway through #2. Intimidated???

If it helps any, there are little sketches at the beginning of each chapter. You could always view them as comic books with extremely overlarge word balloons! ;)

If it helps any, the Eragon hardback is 497 pages. Haha. But yeah, Eldest is over 700. They're definately worth the time. I used to love Harry Potter, I kinda grew out of that phase though, and by that, I mean I really can't stand them anymore. Eragon is far better than Harry Potter, and I'm hoping the second book continues to rule as much as the first.

And for those who have read it, Jeremy Irons is playing Brom, I've heard. Personally, I think that kicks a whole lot of ass. I've also heard that John Malkovich is playing Galbatorix or Morzan, and Djimon Hounsou(yeah, I can't pronounce it either, he's the black guy from Gladiator) is playing Ajihad. I don't know how sound of information this is though. So don't hold me to it.

Harry Potter is my guilty pleasure, but since I found out what happens at the end of the newest one, I can't seem to get around to finishing it.

is it that you are too busy, or is it that finding out the end kind of defeats the whole purpose of reading a 1000-page book...

it would for me...:(

It's not quite up to Harry Potter popularity, but it also isn't for really young children, so they lose a whole audience right there. But it is getting a lot more popular. The first printing of Eldest is going to be 1 million copies. And Eragon has been translated to a crap load of different languages in 16 countries, and is adding 20 more pretty soon. So I guess you could say it's getting there.

Can you get audio books on CD at the library?Yes. I had planned on "reading" a whole bunch of books that way during my forty minute drives to and from work...then I got Sirius radio and now I have no use for your books!
