So,
I know that a few of you were just a Comicon and they had Panels for both of these movies, and know a little more about them than I do. However, here's what I got.
Ghost Rider... IMDB shows it in post production but not out until next Aug. It could be awesome if it is done right. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0259324/
Underworld... I am so amped up for this one. Its do out in Dec. or Jan. . I hope Dec. !! Sony just put up the website!!
http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/underworldevolution/
Yeah, there are no trailers and I can't seem to find a lot of Pics from the sets, but this is for sharing, so post what you know or How amped you are or are not for these movies. Discuss!!

Ok so I know I just posted about how I am sick of seeing all these comic book movies coming out, but im actually a little excited about this one. Ghost rider hopefully will be more like constantine and the first two blade movies, than it is like Spider-man 2 and Daredevil. A good story with adult themes and good acting(yes I thought keanu did some good acting)
Underworld on the other hand scares me. While I thought the movie was well paced and handled the story arcs and character development well, it was kinda campy. Maybe this time they get a better budget and the sequel will be better than the original.
One question I have for the people that went to comic con, did they mention anything about the next movie in the riddick series. I really like the universe they have created in those movies and am very excited to see where they go with that character. Shit, I would even watch a sci-fi original series about riddick!!!!
Ohh shit, the boss....
Underworld on the other hand scares me.
I really dug the first one, but it always bothered me that at the start of just about every scene, the lovely Kate was just arriving from somewhere.
And if Ghostrider has any of the qualities of Constantine, I'll be very happy.

I agree. I was not a reader of Hellblazer and all my friends who did read Hellblazer told me that Constantine was going to suck, and Ill admit from the early previews I agreed. I have to say I was surprised when I went to see it. Probably the coolest and freshest movie Ive seen this year, aside from EP.3
What scares me about Ghostrider is that the skull on fire thing. Im scared it might not look good on screen. That it might come off as cheesy. I didnt read Ghost-rider too much so I dont know what his deal is. Is he a vigilante or something like punisher. I mean what does he do. Why is he like the way he is.

Ghostrider looked pretty good, but we didn't get to see any of the effects. They showed us a bit of a preview and I have a hat from it. It didn't make a strong impression either way.
Underworld 2 looks like Vampire porn. You see Kate all kinds of naked not to mention it looked like more than one scene involving a menage a trois. The action looked good. Seems to follow all of Jaime Kennedy's Scream 2 requirements for a sequel. If you liked the first one, but thought it needed more sex and action then you will like it.
I've only read several Ghostrider comics when I was kid. I'll freely admit I completely missed out on comics. But from what I understand, he made some sort of Faustian bargain and channels the spirit of a Druid god, exacting vengence upon the wicked. But I could be wrong.
As far as Hellblazer, I never read any of the books, so I was able to go into the movie with an open mind- I loved it. I know several people who are avid fans of the comic and they think it was crap. I'm hoping the studio will make a franchise out of it.

Sadly my only experiences with Ghost Rider are in the old beavis and butthead comic where they read comics between stories instead of watching music vids. And the watered down cameo's he made in Either the Hulk or Fantastic 4 cartoons from the mid 90's.

Johnny Blaze (Cage), who agrees to become "Ghost Rider", the host of a "spirit of vengeance" in exchange for the safety of his true love, but the price he pays is to be cursed with the avenging spirit that takes its form at night as a demon with a flaming skull on a motorcycle of hellfire. He dishes out a hellish justice on his Hell-Cycle by forcing you to re-live tenfold all the sins you have perpetuated in your life......

The movie is going to be about a motorcycle stuntman makes who a deal with the devil in order to save his mentor from cancer. His end of the bargain is a little more than he expected, however, and he is possessed by a demon. Every night, he transforms into the Ghost Rider, a humanoid form with a flaming skull for a head, and goes out to wreak vengeance on the guilty.

I obviously have some sort of problem ;)
But I worked it out - I was thinking of the movie "Wraith". It's been a long time since I saw it but I believe it has Chuck Sheen as a dude on a motor bike who comes back as a ghost... I think there's some revenge deal in there... yeah I can't remember

Aw, Come ON! That movie kicked ass! Sort of... It was a cool concept anyway...
It had Randy Quaid! Punks drinking brake fluid! The Pontiac Banshee!
All right, it sucked. But it's one of those movies I'll watch even if no one else will.

Not even close.
There are two sex scenes in the movie that are maybe 1 min and 30 seconds combined. Only one show's anything, the other shows a whole lot of nothing. There is one boob. One. That is the extent of the nudity in this movie. So, if that is what is preventing you from seeing this movie, go see it.
Anyway.
The action sequences are fun, the music is fitting, and the movie was very entertaining. It was not Incredible or anything, but it was a good movie. Very bloody though. I mean at times even disgusting. I didn't mind, but some might.
I will say this, the previews do not do this movie justice. You should all go and see it, if you liked the first Underworld. It is a fitting sequal.
Thats all I gots to say about that.

I saw Ghostrider on Saturday. I had high hopes for it to be mediocre. I figured how bad can it be since I don't know enough about the comic to do any kind of comparison. Wow. I was so wrong. It was beyond bad. The acting was terrible. It seemed like Sam Elliot was the only one who even tried to act. I spent most of the movie thinking about how many other movies I would rather be watching. Fantastic Four, for instance. At least there the stunts were fun.
Guys, the boobs of the main chick give a much better performance than the actress they are attached to. Gals, the young Ghostrider is pretty cute. That's the nicest thing I can say about the movie.
Minor spoliery stuff............................................. .............................
One of the things that drove me the most nuts about it is the writer/director didn't read his own goddamn script. He sets up at one point that he's safe on hallowed ground, but a half an hour later there are two fight sequences in churches. He gets stabbed as Ghostrider and needs to get stitched up when he comes out of it, but then 10 mins later he gets pumped full of lead by the cops and when he comes out of it doesn't have a scratch.
DEFINITITE SPOILERS.......................................... .................................
.................................................. .................................................. ...
He wins his life back, but when he's ready to get it back he changes his mind. Which would be find if they had explained just once why. He says he can do more good and keep souls from the devil if stays as Ghostrider, but they never establish that. He nevers says just once how that works. It made no sense whatsoever.
I saw Ghost Rider this morning and I liked it a lot. I never read the comic other than browse through an issue once or twice when I was a kid (mom wasn't looking) but I was able to get the drift of the how's and why's. But maybe I'm just not high-brow enough to care about the flaws in logic or reason and should have stayed in my cave. If more of us did that then maybe these kind of movies wouldn't be made and the world would be a better place.

Whenever you come out of your cave to support these movies and they prosper, God has to kill ten baby seals, JK. Thanks for supporting Hollywood's "death to the seals" underground campaign.
I haven't worried about being abroad for this release! Yay, one thing I didn't miss.

Well, honestly, I don't have any problem with God killing baby seals. Polar bears, sharks, and Eskimos need to eat and I like being entertained. And this flick was entertaining. I was also entertained by Daredevil and I thoroughly enjoyed Hulk. If that makes me a pariah on these boards, then maybe I should spend more of my free time at the movies.

I was just curious if anyone else saw the resemblance that Cage bears in the trailor for this film to Ben Stillers character in Zoolander? Cage seems to be making that squinty face that Stiller is known for in Zoolander. Just something I noticed when watching the commercial. I dont intend to see the film because I just dont think Cage is believable. I think they should have cast somebody younger. I may rent it on DVD if my hubby wants to watch it but I wont pay theater prices.

No, Daredevil was far worse. I had to be restrained from screaming at the screen. I didn't think Hulk was as god awful as everyone said. I've blocked most of the Avenger movie, but I have a friend who thought the movie was perfection and only made for him to enjoy.
I can't rank Ghostrider as a comic book movie since I don't know the original story. I just didn't like it as a movie. It's not the worst movie I've ever seen in a theater. That would be reserved for If Lucy Fell.

I liked Daredevil for the fun factor. I hated Hulk. This is unavoidable as I have yet to enjoy an Ang Lee movie. I think he may have been placed on this earth to make movies that I will go see and then regret not saving money.
I avoided all things Ghost Rider to go see Breech and Smokin' Aces instead. It takes a very special movie for me to tolerate Nick Cage. His nasal dead pan thoughout a majority of what I have seen is too distracting. Plus I think he isn't attractive and his face bothers me. If you are going to have chronic post nasal drip then it would be nice if you were hot to provide balance to the equation.
Breech really pleased me. Chris Cooper is so versatile and he hasn't been this scary since American Beauty. Scary not in a horror kind of way, but he really masters the slow burning evil that is more realistic. Most actors take a character and make them a one dimensional bad guy. He is one of the few actors that can bring out the humanity in a bad person. The real world hardly ever produces someone that is bad 100% of the time.
Smokin' Aces was fun. No real plot, but fun.

I loved me some Daredevil. But that may have been skewed by the fact that I was A) in it (sort of) and B) Affleck ass in red leather. That said, the director's cut was way better than the release version, IMO.
I am going to wait for video for GR based on the fact that I can't sit longer than 30 minutes without a potty break and because of the reviews I've read. My two faves?
"I kept hoping in the middle of the movie the Scooby Doo gang would come out, rip the mask off of Cage and reveal Ghost Rider really is crazy old man Ben Affleck! That would explain so much."
and
"For years scientists have theorized that one day Nicolas Cage would overact so badly that his head would burst into flames. Now, with "Ghost Rider," the phenomenon has finally come to pass."
Good times!
