Love the Channels, hate the schedule.

Cartoon Network PROBLEMS
JLA comes on once a week! WTF! You also cant buy the show by the season just a collection of acouple of eps'. So annoying, such a great show

No Powerpuff girls? NO POWERPUFF GIRLS! Where did they go? How come you keep showing Ed Edd and Eddy 8 times a week, but not 1 Powerpuff girls.

Scooby Doo? Fuck that Great Dane.
and
The constant Scooby Doo Movies on all the time? You cant show the Iron Giant now agian? Or Fible Goes West. Do I really need to see "Scooby Doo: Girls Gone Wild"

And Last

Where did Samuria jack go? Where is he? How did it end?

Adult Swim
STOP SHOWING ANIMIE that SUCKS. Show an Animie movie, or a GOOD TV show but dont bombard me with that Inyuasha and Milk Chan.
Put Venture Brothers on BEFORE 1am, you asshats.
Would it kill them to have a Robot Chicken Marathon

Comedy Central
Reno 911, South Park, and Dialy Show a schedule does not make. You cant show those shows 24/7 without us getting sick of them.

Other than that, I just felt we needed a new thread not started by Newbie Fucks, or Assholes.

I can ask around at work, see what's up.

I'd asked about Samurai Jack and Johnny Bravo before. I was told they'd be back on next quarter...

That was six months ago...

Dexter's Lab and Powerpuff Girls are pretty much history.

I'd heard that adult swim is moving towards all anime, which would be fine, except the anime they show now sucks. It sucks ass. From what I understand, they've done demographic reasearch and blah blah blah... Basically, from what I understand, there's a group of people over there who went to Japan for a convention and they in turn convinced everyone else that anime is the shit (even when it is, in fact, shit) They seem to be a little full of themselves. But you didn't hear that from me...

I can't do anything about Comedy Central...

NO IT WOULD NOT BE FINE! It would, in fact, be the worst thing that ever happened in the history of the world.

Akira was good, Ghost in the Shell was good- but then again those are R-rated feature films...

Hey!! WTF! You stole my line! Oh well, Cali IS a community property state.

As for the unpredictable schedule on Cartoon Network, Comedy Channel, etc., I have only one response: TIVO! Without that, I'd never be able to watch any of it. It's time-shift or don't watch at my house.

Dude, tivo doesn't do you any good if these shows are going bye-bye. This is very big, very sad news.

Dude, tivo doesn't do you any good if these shows are going bye-bye. True, but I can always catch the odd program that is being run at midnight or 2:00am weekdays on some unpredictable schedule.

Basically, from what I understand, there's a group of people over there who went to Japan for a convention and they in turn convinced everyone else that anime is the shit (even when it is, in fact, shit) They seem to be a little full of themselves. I agree on the anime = shit theory. There is much visual evidence to support it.

Since my parents are out of town, and I have a week off, I have been messing with the cable in the living room (which I rarely get to watch because my folks are watching golf or knitting) Guess what? They have DVR and On Demand, those fuckers! They are just wasting it with their crap! SO I've set it to record JLA and a couple of other shows.
On demand kinda sucks (unless you want to pay) getting to watch alot of Robot Chicken is kinda cool though.

also jkhulon73 where do you work?

We should have our own MPS tv station where we get to decide what goes on and what comes off.
CC used to have a show called Trigger Happy. I liked that show, I wonder where it went. Where do shows go when they die?
Hey that could one of our slogans.
For me it'd be a day of ATHF, Space Ghost, Samauri Jack, Trigger Happy, The Young Ones and perhaps a couple really good movies like the Princess Bride or the Lost Boys, you know, to mix it up a bit.

I think you guys are missing something. The reason Cartoon Network won't be showing them is because Adult Swim is going to be getting it's own channel. Therefore, all of those more adult shows will be going with them.

Ooooh, I thought it was just bad decision making at the network.
I hope the Adult Swim channel will be on regular cable.

As far as I've heard, they are working out all the details. It could all fall through, but I think they have strong enough numbers to pull through. It all comes down to the money and the lawyers.

Turner Entertainment Network, Broadcast Operations Center.

I haven't heard anything about Adult Swim becoming a completely seperate channel. I know that from 11p to 6a Sun-Thu (or whatever- it keeps changing) CTN is Adult Swim and gets seperate ratings, but they haven't mentioned anything about going to full-on 24-hour operations. (Which would be sweet- it would open up about 36 positions just in the BOC) Right now the big push is for the NBA Network.

Ok, so i dont know if this ease anyones pain, or truly answer anyones question but here goes.

Last year at Dragoncon, one question asked at the Williams street panel was why do shows go away for so long on Adult swim( if you remember this was around the time people were flipping the fuck out about no more Sealab 2021). The answer they gave was that they felt it was better to let a show than to push for a rushed second or third season. Adult Swim rather stay fresh with new shows, than keep a series going beyond its years. I thought this answer was complete bullshit.

Personally I think Adult Swim has turned into a indie cartoon showcase power hour. The ones that do really really good will go on to have a very lucrative DVD Sales life. As far as Samurai Jack goes, I believe that the shows creator just stopped doing it. I could be wrong

P.S. The williams street panel was Saturday night at 8:00pm at a con. if anyone knows anything about cons, By 8pm saturday everyone is Drunk or getting there. So if my details suck I apologize now.

Walt as in Walt Disney(You may hate disney but you cant hate the man, he had a vision)

John Kricfalusi(pronounced Chris-fa-lou-see) Created Ren and Stimpy. Probably the greatest Cartoon of all time!!!!

I assumed by the way that you had written it that Walt and John were the brothers Chrisfalousee. During my Ren and Stimpy watching days I wasn't too worried about writers/creators, so I've never heard of him.

When your idea of a good time consists of making fun of anonymous people on message boards...I don't think creativity is one of your strong points. Inheirent in being a flamebaiter is a lack of the ability to add anything new to the flamebaiter repertoire.

Sorry to get back on topic here, but...

I think the whole confusion over Adult Swim becoming its own channel is the fact that because of its sky-high ratings, the Adult Swim hours of Cartoon Network were going to be placed in the Network ratings category, making CN an unofficial network. I think this was just a consideration and I don't know claim to know all the little quirks of station classification, etc.

But considering that PAX-TV is still factored into the Nielsens network share figure (I'm looking at a three year old chart for reference, so I might be off), while something like CN is not, well, you can imagine the impact that it has on those statistics.

That, and Adult Swim just doesn't have enough programming yet to become its own channel. Besides ATHF, Sealab, and the Fox shows, AS has very few shows that have had 3-standard seasons (the magic number for weekday syndication). And then there's the ethical considerations of having some of its racier content available during the daytime.

As for Anime, they need to stop buying crap. I am what you would consider the average anime hater, but I really enjoyed Cowboy Bebop (CN should get the rights to the movie, which is brilliant), and the GIS spinoff show. All these shows follow the western 3-act story telling standard with somewhat satisfying conclusions. If they want to buy more shows like these, great. The other shows, with their long story arcs, too many damn characters, and meaningless quests, are just money down the drain.

I've been watching ATHF and promos for some of the new adult swim shows just ran- they look like they were drawn by a dislexic six-year-old golden retriever suffering from paralyzing rhuematoid arthritis... Is that the new thing? Crappy animation and half-hearted dialogue that sounds like a couple of stoners that just woke up?

I want to apologize now.

I believe those were the shows that were booed after they were previewed for the first time. Tom Goes to the Mayor is probably the full extent of animation so crappy its funny, which is why these new shows probably won't work. I'm suprised they don't just start airing flash animation (some of which looks lightyears better than some of this crap).

I believe those were the shows that were booed after they were previewed for the first time. Right! I was at the 2004 SanDiego comic-con, where the Adult Swim panelists showed a Squidbillies clip. After it was over, we could hear crickets as we all thought "WTF"? Then someone shocked us out of our collective stupor by shouting, "You can do better." Truer words were never spoken. I cannot believe they're trying again.
