I've been watching Rock Star: INXS. I must say I'm actually enjoying this show. A majority of the songs are good, and a majority of the singers are good. Unfortunately, my favorite guy completely fucked up Summer of 69 yesterday, and was booted today. But he was amazing. He was like a hybrid of Jimmy Page, Mick Jagger, and Jim Morrison. And he was beautiful. In an odd sort of way. His name was Neal Carlson. He ruled.

One of the worst ideas for a tv show EVER. Way to kill the INXS cred, boys.
So, did they ask contestants to sign something saying they would never perform auto-erotic-asphyxiation or whatever it's called?

I have that song of theirs, "The One Thing" from when I was REALLY into 80's music...
...there, I said it, i liked 80's music once and i'm SEVENTEEN

Nothing wrong with 80's music dude. I loved INXS. In fact Never Tear Us Apart is still one of my all time fave songs. But that band died with Michael Hutchence and the other dudes need to deal and move on.

The One Thing is the only song of theirs that I've heard. i should check them out.

I'm not a big INXS fan, I just like watching the contestants. Some of them have a lot of talent, and would be better off with their own bands. There's only like one or two guys that are good for this specific band. I think the Australian guy will win.... because he's Australian.

I think it's being shown on Pay TV over here and lucky for me I don't have it. I just think it's sad when decrepit old has beens try to reinvigorate their careers. ;)
I too, watch this show when i run across it. I didn't see it last night, but it seems to me that there are about 3 contestants that are any good, but even they are not great. I just don't see INXS getting a quality singer from this experement.
Any yet, i find myself drawn to Kelly Clarkson, so what do i know...

Any yet, i find myself drawn to Kelly Clarkson, so what do i know...I watched about 10 min. the other night and this girl was sceaming. It scared the crap out of me and I gave up. Maybe Michael H. was clarvoyant and hung himself because he foresaw them doing this to INXS.
As for Kelly Clarkson, I will admit liking the song "Since You Been Gone", but strictly because it is a fun break-up song.

That screaming girl was booted on the first show. She sucked.

I think the black guy has the best chance. Not a great singer, but very original-looking.
Edit: Who said you had to be a great singer to front a rock band?
you don't have to be a great singer, but you have to be a decent singer to sing INXS's catalogue. i've heard better voices at a Karaoke bar than are on taht show, frankly. the black guy and 2 other dudes might work, but frankly i just dont see any of those guys making the band better in the long run.

I must have missed that one, but I did see him think he was a bad ass in the boxing ring because he boxed in high school. Needless to say he was complaining about possibly cracking a rib. "This dude is a mess!" indeed.

Hey,every rose has it's thorn. And by the way, doesn't the security guy in the photo look like he caught a whiff of something Jamie ate before the show. Backstage food ain't what it used to be.

That seems a little too restrictive, I propose, If you are an INXS fan and you buy any album created with the singer "discovered" on this show...you are no longer an INXS fan.
Not that I have a dog in the show, I've never gone beyond listening to them on the radio...I'm a just sayin'.

At best we could say that if you are an INXS fan and you are watching this show, then it is to see what jackoff is going to destroy the rep of the band. However, it is like watching a TV show made about what loser your significant other is going to choose over you.

BTW - Every Rose has its thorn is by Poison. And thank you Fangirl for bringing that song back into my life! :)

;)It's funny. The boyfriend-unit played that song on the jukebox for me last night. Everytime I hear it I also want to hear Head over Heels. Different bands, but it invokes the nostalgia.
In fact, I can remember being in a car with two other board members here singing that song at the top of our lungs. Maybe it's my theme song and I don't know it.

Seriously, if you keep this up there will be a Warrant out for your arrest by the Sheriff. I heard you are Wanted Dead Or Alive. This means they will be bringing their L.A. Guns, and their Poison. Believe me, you do not want to end up in jail with the Motely Crue of people in there, or on Skid Row. The fellow prisoners don't take too kindly to a W.A.S.P. Great White guy. I also hear they make you eat bar-b-qued Ratt for dinner. Last time this happened the prisoners started a Quiet Riot.
On that note: Find out what heavy metal band you are...

Shit-fire, I saw every one of those bands back in their heyday(if that's what you'd call it). Long live Headbanger's Ball...\m/......\m/...:D.

My 80's-metal related live shows: (note, NOT listen in any particular order)
1) Guns n' Roses at the Rosemont Horizon in 1992. The night before Axl freaked out, skipped the second show and fled from the law to St. Louis. Yep, I still have the t-shirt. Smashing Pumpkins opened the show, how wierd is that?
2) Great White. Now I am glad I survived since they killed all the rest of their fans.
3) Bullet Boys
4) Dokken
5) Vince Neil without Motley Crue
6) Van Halen
7) Poison
8) Aerosmith (in the big hair days)
9) House of Lords
10) Pantera
11) Warrant
12) Kiss

I always thought the rumors about GnR being so naughty was publicity. Then I went to the China Club in Hollywood on New Year's Eve (early 90's - can't remember which year). They walked in the door (minus Axl) and got in a fight literally within 30 seconds. I got smashed into the bar by Slash's backward flying body, but no major damage to either of us. They were out the door two minutes after they walked in.

God, I saw Winger open for Bullet Boys. Never seen so much hair in one building in my life(guys and gals). That singer for BB was the biggest David Lee Wannabe. Karate kicks abound. And Kip Winger(ballerina that he was) had all the ladies verklempt. I've seen all the bands you listed except House of Lords. Most of them numerous times. Back in the early 90's Great White and Tesla came to Waco(yeah,Waco). My band got to open for both shows(big whoop). Great White wasn't doing any pyro at the time so we made it out alive. Tesla had just canned one of their guitar players for substance abuse. Ha, those guys were so bombed the lead singer lit a joint on the stage. Good times.

Oh my god, I LOVE the Sex Pistols... I would so do Johnny Rotten(not old Johnny Rotten, back in the Sex Pistols days)... I'm not sure why though, he's not very good looking. Anyway, You know what I love about "Every Rose has its Thorns"? The fact that its meaning is You're hot, but you're a total bitch. It should be my theme song! :P Its too bad my theme song is already Cold Hard Bitch.
