I just checked the FAQs and didn't see anything about Spamming, advertising, shilling, what have you. On the old boards it was in FAQs " Users may not post or transmit advertisments of any kind. " Not that it ever actually stopped anyone then either. I'm assuming at this point, it's up to Ryalls discretion.

Typically speaking, we don't mind a bit when an established member uses this place to promote their movie ,their music, their column, etc..
What I'm asking you Mr. Batman, is try and put yourself in our position. If your movie site had a message board ( I don't know if it does or not? ) and five or six times a week people showed up and posted links to Cialis and Levitra sites, or home mortgage refinance. And then you say,
"Hey, don't you have any comments about the movie ?"
And they say " No I'm not interested stupid fucking sucky-ass movie. I just came to pimp my shit. That's what the internet is for! "
If that happened would you want that person to conitnue to be a part of your site ?

And remember it's not just one person doing this one time, sometimes it's four times a day sometimes only two or three a month, but after a while , trust me, it's going to really piss you off. Hopefully, this illustration is not lost on you.

But if I had people on my forum 24 hours a day and I had at least a million USD i think i'd pretty much ignore it and let the people on board say whatever they want and promote as much as they liked as long as it didn't crash the server.

I don't know how synonomous the viewaskew board and this board are in terms of the ringleaders but i've been a member on the view askew board for over a year and never really promoted at all just hyped kev's flicks. I've also watched his flicks before the internet's nascence.

There's one church in KC. I read a few books and was interested being that i couldn't really talk to people about this in public (they didn't know what the hell it was, or was convinced it was a cult without any knowledge on the subject) I decided to go to the church. I was there for a year. It was totalitarian and they even had a FAQ we're not totalitarian to defend the church, which is kind of like the guy who says "I don't like that girl 20 plus times a day" pretty much annoying you and making you believe he in fact loves the girl to death and is insane.

The only thing that defines a cult is a group with a charismatic leader. When Christianity first started, yeah, it was a cult. Scientology, while not a cult, is still ridiculously stupid.

It's not illegal to hate anyone--it is, however, illegal to hurt someone or discriminate because of their religion. If an artists or actors work isn't affected by his religion, I don't care, but when they use it as a promotional tool or publicity attempt, it pisses me off, Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise included.

John Travolta is another story, he says that he's a scientologist, but he doesn't use it as a tool to bring people to his movies, so I could care less.

Why are they all stupid? Because not a SINGLE ONE of us has ANY idea what the hell life is about, why we're here, how we got here, or where we're going. If anyone has some actual proof of anthing, that there is a god or not, that what a certain religion preaches is correct or not, please tell me.

Ty, I'm not a religious person, but calling another's beliefs stupid ain't the way to go IMO. I don't believe in much of anything but good will towards others and, myself, but I'm not about to piss on someone else's beliefs.

I say it's stupid not to piss on anyones beliefs, but because I think it is. I Think all religions are, for that matter, and I even think my reasons for not believing in any of them is stupid as well.

Why are they all stupid? Because not a SINGLE ONE of us has ANY idea what the hell life is about, why we're here, how we got here, or where we're going. If anyone has some actual proof of anthing, that there is a god or not, that what a certain religion preaches is correct or not, please tell me.

I'm not religious either , despite the assumptions of some. I don't attend church or preach at anyone, I'd be hard pressed to define what God or religion I believe in. Just that I do believe that some divine intelligence far beyond the understanding of our puny human minds at least got the ball rolling.I simply can't accept that our existence is the summation of millions of years of random occurence. I do stop short of believing that divine intelligence, listens to all our prayers and decides which ones to grant.

Proof ? There is no proof , with proof there would be no test of faith. No test means no grade. No grade means no course credit. Further, if I had concrete evidence or undeniable proof; I wouldn't share it anyway, because people simply aren't swayed by proof . They'll believe what they want to, or what they've been trained to. Proof wouldn't change your opinion on the matter , you'd just look for ways to prove the proof wasn't true. Because like most everyone else, your beliefs are set. People don't belive the truth, they believe what works for them.

That said, it's wrong to shit on peoples religious beliefs no matter how kooky or wrong they might seem to you.

That last line needs some qualifying ,I meant to say as long as their hearts are in the right place. If they're using religion to promote hate, then their beliefs deserve shitting on.
