...this weekend. I've been waiting for this ever since I heard the rumors about it in 2002. I can't believe the day has finally come when i get to see Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I can't believe that you've been waiting for this movie for 3 years. I hope its good for you though. I, myself, will be seeing Wedding Crashers this weekend.

I will be seeing the Wedding Crashers on Monday... my buddy and I were supposed to see Wonka today but then decided against it. I will catch it eventually but it is not a priority.
I'd like to see Wedding Crashers and Wonka. Hopefully I'll find time this weekend. I've already seen War of the Worlds. Wow, all the W's.

I didn't even realize that it was out this weekend. I might have to go chek it out !
I just back from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Fantastic.
Except just at the moment the squirrels were taking out the trash, the film stopped, house lights came up, and they started playing The Twenty (that entertainment video magazine) Good times. A theater full of kids already hopped up on Icees and Whoppers going nuts because the movie stopped...
I should have waited for the late, late show...

I planned on watching "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" this weekend, but alas, my truck is in the shop and I don't have transportation.
It was either leave it there and wait for the part to come in; total cost $45
or
Take it home, continue driving it around, and risk more damage; worst case scenario is $1,800
I chose to leave it there.

I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory today. It freakin ruled. A friend of mine said that Johnny Depp would be a horrible Willy Wonka. Obviously he was wrong. What's even worse is that he thought that Andy Dick would be better for the part. Needless to say, he is no longer my friend, haha. Seriously though. I'm going again tomorrow with some more friends that haven't seen it yet.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was amazing! I loved it. It seemed like a more in-depth story than the original one. And the oompa loompas were halarious. It's the best kids movie ever since the Lion King.

I just saw it, and yes, I WILL see it twice! Fantastical! In fact Gotherella and I nearly went right back to the ticket booth after our screening ended, but the kiddos needed to hit the sack.
And Elfman is at his best as well. Gotta go pull out all of my old Oingo Boingo vinyl. "Grey matter, grey matter, ohh-o-o-ohhh!"
Also looking forward to "Corpse Bride." We saw a 10 minute clip from the movie at the 'con. Wow! More good Elfman there too!!

God, 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' was HORRIBLE! God, the story was so slow, you could not understand anything that the Oompa Loompas were singing, Depp was horrible and had a resemblance to Michael Jackson and that was freaking me out. The story was slow and it was just creepy with the puppets, everything. God, it was bad. But, Charlie was so adorable and I thought the ending was cute, but other than that, this movie was a waist of Depp's acting ability and a waste of my time. I'll stick to the musical, thank you!

Wait, it's not a musical?
I don't like to judge movies before I see them, but I don't see how this could compare to the original.

(Spoilers in white)
Frickin' loved it. The start was a bit slow, but once they got to the factory and the puppets burst into flame, I knew it was going to be good. Depp's Marilyn Manson/Howard Hughes channeling the kid nobody liked at school was mesmerizing and funny as hell. Great one-liners. And the whole thing is a big reference-fest -- Psycho, 2001, and even Esther Williams flicks.
The oompa-loompas were awesome, though I agree with Smurfy that it was hard to understand them at times. Did you know Elfman did all their voices? He told this great story in an interview about recording the same song over and over in different voices, to the point where he was laughing so hard his wife came in to see if he was okay. And TDB, it's not really a musical -- there are four songs by the ooompa-loompas, each in a different style. My favorite is Mike Teevee, which is a rock extravaganza, complete with Spinal Tap oompa loompas.
I wasn't impressed with some of the kids, but was so busy watching Depp that it didn't matter that much. If you like Tim Burton, you'll probably like this movie.

Yeah, but I havn't read the book, the Charlie&tCF that I first saw was the movie, and I think it would be kind of boring without the songs.
I really like Depp though, so I'll prbably see it anyway.

I was enthralled from the very beginning to the very end. Even when the dipshits running the theater stopped the film halfway through and started the previews up, I was able to get right back into it when they finally cranked it up again. I'm planning on going to see it again, but at a late, late show to avoid the crowds of kids hopped up on sugar.

I was never fond of Grandpa Joe. He cant walk for 20 years and lets Charlie, his young grandson go to work for his mother to help make money while he lays in bed and eats half of Charlies chocolate bar, only to get right up and go dancing and flying with Charlie when he gets a chance to.
Fucker.
As for Wilder, I think he's amazing.

This was the first movie that I saw opening night since Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Figured that the 3-year-old would dig it, and he did, so did I. There are parts in the original that I liked better, there were parts in this one that I liked better. They both are equally good in my book. One complaint that I have with the original is that it takes too damn long to get into the factory. This one corrected that, they got to the factory quick style. Even still, the time in the factory seemed rushed, too. It all seemed too rush, rush for me, but not enough to make me not like the movie. I've never read the book, but the one part that really seemed missing to me in this one was the whole Slugworth side plot. That being left out changed the ending that I've always known.
Because of ratm1966's deep down hatred for Grandpa Joe, I would recommend that he never see this movie as his jumping out of bed is even more damning than in the original.

Didn't Grandpa Joe remind anyone of the Pixar animation of the old guy playing himself in Chess? Freaked me out and it was bugging me the whole movie.
And Depp reminded me so much of Michael Jackson, especially at the'Go ahead and grab it. Go ahead and grab it little boy.Something like that, but it scared the shit out of me. Especially the puppets. I have to endure seeing it again on Tuesday since I promised a couple friends, so hopefully I can bring my mini-yahtzee game with me.

Good
Umpa Loompas and Umpa Musical Numbers
The Sets
The Costumes (loved Wonkas Gloves)
The Bad
No the tunnel ride wasnt creepy AT ALL! Where is the chicken with its head cut off
The whole Father thing with Count Dooku, sigh what a waste of time
Seemed to take FOREVER to get to the Factory.
Not British enough.
Well, i don't know about how Wonka was, but Wedding Crashers was Awesome!!!!!!!!!
Vaughn and Wilson make a great team. I laughed thru-out the entire movie, and came out of the theatre feeling uplifted, it's been a long time since i have had that much fun at a movie. See it.

This willy wonka situation has got me thinking about last weekend, a funny thing happened to my friends brother (he's a tad useless in the brains department) that had me in a fit of laughter all week, it started with a drunken night out at a local haunt for booze hounds, toward the end of the night he met an ugly bitch, who was also a bit head mental like him. They hit it off went home to his house and she got her kit off, we're in, So he leaves to freshen up in his bathroom only to retutrn naked himself. He starts to play with her nipple and then leans down licking it once, this was when she shat herself, actually shat herself all over his bed , his floor and when she was making a run for the toilet while still shitting like a cow all over his house basically, it took seven of his best shirts (as if he had any not-so-best shirts) five towels and two bottles of bleach to clean it. I laughed my fucking self to sleep for a week and i hope you can do the same, but if i've turned your guts green suck me.
I guess I had to be there.
I don't understand what this has to do with Willy Wonka though.

I'm a little hesitant...but here goes. I had two buddies who were very close. Prior to hearing the story, I had no idea how close. P(to protect the innocent) and B were 16 and 15 respectively, I think. P was working at the tennis club and really liked a girl there. He finally got her to go on a date with him and somehow he knew that they would be having sex after the date. So he tells B to wait in his closet as, I think, it was to be the first sexual escapade for either of them(not that I was one to talk at the time, but carry on). After the date they head back to P's parents house and into his bedroom where B is lurking in the closet. They start getting to it, she stops to grab something out of her bag...Anal Beads. Plop, plop, plop, they're on board. She instructs him to pull them out when the time comes. The time comes, out they come, along with some shit, onto P's bed. He freaks out, runs out of the room and hides out downstairs. B is still in the closet and gets to see her relishing in her own shit. That was enough to freak him out, he busts out of the closet and runs downstairs to meet up with P. Not too sure what happened with the girl, but needless to say, that was a one night relationship.

You think HIS is bad? There's a story on Tuckermax.com that's similar, but worse.
This guy decides he's gonna try anal with a chick for the first time, and he gets his friend to hide in teh closet to tape it. The guy ended up using an entire tube of lube, and when he was finally having some fun, he looks down to see that she was shitting logs all over his bed and his *cough*member*cough*. He, in turn, vomits uncontrollably all over her back, and when she realizes what he did, starts vomiting herself. Moments later, his buddy who was taping the whole thing, busts out of the closet, also vomiting.
