...feel like you could have had a starring role in as part of your life. For me:

1. Dazed and Confused. There were so many parts of that movie I lived. Keg party in the woods, jocks getting shit on by gung-ho coaches that didn't care for your extracurricular activities, hazing for the fish, that cool guy that graduated a few years earlier always hanging around, etc., etc.,...
2. Detroit Rock City. Very first concert back in 1977. Styx opened for KISS. Me and some buds went to the show at Tarrant County Convention Center in Dallas.
KISS fucking rocked. Came home bought a bass and have been in one band or another ever since.

1. Bridget Jones - On the Edge of Reason: I too had a 'Daniel Cleaver' type in my past. Eventually I got to see him for what he was, but just like good old Bridget, I fell for his wonderful lines and straight out good looks.

2. Goodfellas - When I was married I felt as if I was living out this movie everyday. In fact, I think I was married to Ray Liotta, or Henry Hill.

3. Mommie Dearest - When I was growing up my grandmother was EXACTLY like Joan Crawford. She even looked like her. I guess that makes me Christina.

By the way By-Tor - never let the people of Ft. Worth hear you say that the Tarrant Country Coliseum is in Dallas. That's grounds for a' lynchin', I declare! It was funny, two weeks ago I saw Alanis Morisette play at Bass Hall in Ft. Worth (the prize jewel of the city). She said "Note to self: Come back to Dallas". Everyone got silent. Oops!

Yeah, sorry about that.

1. Chasing Amy, but I'm kind of over that. I still love the movie.

2. Except for the whole doctor part, every episode of Scrubs. I know it's not a movie, shut up.

3. Grosse Pointe Blank, but only because all my friends in high school thought that's what happened to me after I left town...and other cryptic messages, blabbety-blee.

Terminator 2 because everybody used to think that I looked like Eddie Furlong.

Dazed and Confused is a good one but I feel that way about every Richard Linklater movie I've seen. Especially "Before Sunrise".

I also really identify with Mr. T's character in "D.C. Cab". Okay, maybe I'm kidding about that one.

Dazed and Confused was sort of the movie that we based high school on, rather than it seeming like it was based on us. I drove a '68 Skylark, there were times when it was laden down with mass quanities of beer (sometimes kegs, sometimes cans), there were parties in the woods...not saying that I did all those things because of the movie, just that it was a big influence on us.

Just remembered its biggest influence on us. In the library at our high school, there was a bust of Abraham Lincoln. Collectively, we stole it, then my friend Brian painted it to look like Gene Simmons. My memory seems to be going, but I think that it ended up traveling to college with him before getting busted during a party.

I guess that I should add Empire Records to the list of movies that influenced me. We used to glue money to the floor by our lockers like crazy. We even went so far as to seal the "seam" between the quarter and the floor with silicone "cock" so that it was more work for the janitor. I also asked a girl to the prom at exactly 1:37.

There are parts in Kevin's JERSEY GIRL that are way too me... same with A TALE OF TWO CITIES (whatever version, I care more for the book anyway).

Or... and this could disturb some people (person) to hear me mention the show... I am that moment in the last Firefly episode when River sees Mal and Inara are talking and she can hear/sense their thoughts/feelings and Inara says "I'm a big girl, just tell me" followed by Mal saying "None of it means a damn thing."

Okay, now this Kevin guy is being talked about in both forums. How have I never heard of him?

And as for TOTC, I agree, the book is awesome. I didn't even know that there was a movie made based off of it. Is it worth a watch?

Office space, I'm a sort of Peter/Milton Lovechild, I have about 3 Bill Lumburgs (you hear that mark henessy, you worst of the f***in bunch, of course you don't!) who come and give me shit all the time, no one actually helps anyone. Oh and my mini Clique is a Michael Bolton-esque, but Nahasa-whata-ever his name was is generally replaced by 2-3 good looking girls at lunchtime.

Punch Drunk Love: I don't have sisters, or many sisters (3 brothers, only 2 piss me off) but I just share his lack of communication, and almost feel verbally impaired compared to most people, I can get upset over trivial stuff though, and I feel almost autistic.

I can't really apply myself to other movies, I'm a shallow person.

Damn...I was going to say that too, but mainly because I kill people for a living.
;)

Dazed and Confused is a movie that everyone can relate to. If you can't, you didn't go to high school.

1. Clerks - It was so close to my life, when I first saw it I thought it was about me.
2. Reality Bites- Same reason, to a lesser extent.
3. Waking Life - Reminds of the town I live in and the people I know , well duh, it was filmed here and three people I know are in it.
Oh and of course Tron because I have a sneaking suspicion that my computer is going to suck me inside of it and force me to play games.

Yeah it was late when I posted that(not thinking clearly, never am). And I'll return the favor. "County", not "Country". :p

1. Dead Poets Society. My years in private school had a profound effect on my life, and still do. My early life could've easily been written into that film.

2. Office Space. I have experienced office life as much as I ever care to.

3. The Big Lebowski. I identify with the Dude in about every possible way.

4. Fight Club. I'm becoming more the person I want to be, and this movie continues to run parallel to changes in my life.

5. Groundhog Day. I think God created me for a good laugh sometimes, besides the fact that it was my old best bud's and my favorite movie to watch together.

Sometime this month I'm having a Detriot Rock City like experience. A couple of friends and I are driving down the Columbia Missouri for a Billy Idol concert... (craziness shall insue). We were also going to go to a ZZTop concert this weekend, but we didn't get all the information we needed on time to go... Meaning we didn't know where it was until yesterday.

Don't have time to think about this in depth but I definately have to go with Office Space too. After 8 years working in an office, seeing that movie was like watching my day (except way funnier and less boring of course!). In particular, I've had that "what the fuck is PC Load Letter" conversation several times.

My life experience has been pretty unique- the movie hasn't been made yet...

My life is so boring that there is no cinematic equivalent -- it would be too damn dull. Though some John Huges movies have their high school moments that take me back...

Yeah defininitely. But I was going for the right time-frame(late 70's, early 80's for me) also.

Well, I guess you could be Peter from Office Space, ante-hypnosis of course.

I went to high school in the late 1980s. Nothing, except The Breakfast Club had any real connection with my experience. Dazed and Confused is a timeless cross section of high school.

...feel like you could have had a starring role in as part of your life.

There are many characters who I can relate to, maybe because they react the same way I think I would in a similar situation, but I can't think of any movie that accurately portrays more than 30 seconds of my life. Though I normally don't watch those kinds of movies either, so I wouldn't know.

If I were to choose a movie that I could have had as my life, I guess it would be something like Tomb Raider or X-men.
Adventure, excitement, I am not a Jedi.
