I swear, I hope you're joking. I would think maybe The Rock would be a better choice... or anybody that's a bit more atheletic than KG. Maybe KG could just loan his voice out for the part.

I think that Kelsey playing the Beast is a great choice. He's got the right attitude, and the character will probably be largely done with CGI, so, his stature isn't the most important issue- besides, he's a pretty big guy. I like the casting!

I agree wholeheartedly. Best casting since Patrick Stewart was announced as Professor X. I mean Sideshow Bob as an X-Man. What could be cooler?

I agree. I think that his character will be mostly done through CGI, and we all know that he's typecast playing the ubersmart guy anyway.

I'm more troubled by the casting of Maggie Grace as Kitty Pryde. Kitty's debut was the second X-Men comic I ever bought. Call me an old fogey, but I want my Kitty teen-aged, gawky, and Jewish.

I think that the thing that the X-Men movies need is to bring the coolest X-Men character to life. Gambit needs to come in.

I remember I was going to come rave about this a week earlier. Grammer as Beast is just thumbs up all the way for me.

Now if only we could get Angel (I know where they could get some wings...Secret Stash anyone?) & Dazzler...My world would be complete.

Angel is gonna be in X3, except as a girl. I'm not making this up.

Well, if you think about it, Angels are technically sexless.

Denyse

In the grand sceme, yes, they would be. But in the books, he was a guy...

A hot guy...

Iwanted a hot, flesh and blood guy with wings...

Denied again.

Wrong-o! There was talk of making Angel a girl, like in Grant Morrison's run, but nope, he's gonna be a dude.

No Sentinels, either, unfortunately. Sentinels woulda been cool, if reallly hard to do well.

As much as i hate Frasier, Kelsey Grammer would be the perfect Beast. He has the perfect voice for it, and he has a good face for it too, add some blue hair and he is beast.

plus it will be really funny when Beast keeps stepping on rakes and they pop him in the face.

Oh thank god. I heard this awhile ago but never heard a follow up on it. When they announced the Xmen wouldn't have yellow spandex, fans were outraged, so I was kinda suprised when they mentioned a dramatic change like this. Now all I need is for Collosus to be a main character. Personal fave of mine when I was a kid.

*puts on mask and points gun in the air* Alright everyone, hands up. I'm hijacking this thread.

So, I've found a great discussion to get into with fellow geeks in bars is the age old question - who is the oldest mutant? It's funny how everyone seems to have an answer yet they never agree. I figured I'd put it to you all. What is the answer? Is it Wolverine?

Denyse

I thought it was Apocalypse. (I can't think of any others that go back beyond ancient Egyptian times.)

After thorough research (one website) it turns out that Apocolypse is the oldest mutant due to time travel. I stopeed reading comics so long ago that I don't know what that means.

Galactus is not human (nor a mutant branch of humanity), so I don't think he counts.

Denyse

Depends on your definition of mutant...

I go by the X-men definition of mutant, that of evolutionary mutation, then I don't believe Galactus would be considered a mutant. If you go by the "mutation of cells by external means" to define a mutant, then yes.

According to the Marvel Directory:

Galactus is the sole survivor of the universe that existed prior to the creation of the current universe. Originally Galactus was a humanoid named Galan, who was born on the planet Taa, a paradise-like world whose civilization is said to have been the most advanced of any of the known universe of that time.

However, this universe was in its final stages of collapse. Originally, this universe had been a "Cosmic Egg," a primal sphere of disorganized, dense, compact primordial matter. The sphere underwent a "Big Bang," an explosion that hurled the matter outwards, where much of it eventually condensed into stars and planets. This universe expanded in size for billions of years, and then contracted over the following billions of years. All of the matter of that universe was plunging towards a central point, where it was collapsing into a new "Cosmic Egg."

Taa's civilization was one of the last still in existence. Lethal radiation caused by the death of this universe was wiping out life on nearby planets. Galan, a space explorer, was dispatched to travel through the cosmos to find a means of saving Taa, but he found none. The radiation then killed off all but a tiny fraction of the population of Taa. Knowing their deaths were inevitable, Galan proposed to the remaining survivors that they die gloriously by traveling in a starship straight into the "Cosmic Egg." As the starship approached its destination, radiation killed all the passengers except Galan, who strangely found himself filled with new energy.

I remembered reading in Trial of Galactus reading he was humanoid, but that definition falls into the mutation category instead of mutant.

Of course, he's humanoid (two arms and legs, etc.), but he ain't human. ;)

I am not on the Kelsey Grammer bandwagon -- I just think his voice is too recognizeable and associated with one character. I'd have to keep thinking "not Frasier." I'm not the world's biggest X-fan, but from what I know of the character Beast has to have a certain sweetness and smart-aleckness that I'm not sure Grammer could convey.

Hope I'm wrong though -- I loved the first two movies.

Edit: Damn, you guys got off on a completely different topic while I was typing that!
