I'm not sure if this board has discussed it, but I want to start a thread about Stephen King's Dark Tower Series. I've read the 1st through sixth novels, I still need to read the finale "The Dark Tower." What do you people think of these amazing stories? Personally I believe that the man in black, from the 1st sentence of the novel, represents Roland and perhaps the world's fear and the man in black is the first obstacle to reach a goal. Therefore, the symbolism is that you need to conquer fear in order to reach your goals. But there is so much symbolism in the Tower that y'all will probably find better ideas than that crappy one i just pulled out of my ass.

I think you're overanalyzing what you should limit yourself to simply enjoying. And yes, I have read the entire series. Twice. So far.

I love these books. My dream is to make them all into movies at once like Peter Jackson made LOTR.

A challenge of epic proportions indeed. Just out of curiosity, whom would you cast? After seeing Hidalgo, Vigo seemed perfect for Roland, IMO.

Good question. I always thought it was supposed to be Clint Eastwood, although I know that would never happen. I am really not sure who I would cast if I had the opportunity. I change my mind frequently on the subject.

I hate-hate-HATED that King wrote himself into it , other than that it was cool.

If they made a movie out of The Dark Tower, it would be hell. The story of Roland's quest is quite a bit more complex than any other story by King. Hell, it's more complex than most stories period. I also believe i read on stephen king's website that he does not intend on there being any DT movies. But then again George Lucas said he would never make the Prequels to the Star Wars trilogy.
