View Full Version : Can't decide...

JK

I'm getting some new ink done in July and I can't decide which one I want to get. I've never done a poll, so I thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to get some objective opinions. These are the three I've narrowed it down to:

1. Bantha Skull, a la Boba Fett. If I get this one, it'll go on the outside left forearm.
http://home.comcast.net/~joehulon/shoulder-symbol.jpg

2. 10-2 & 4. I'd probably put this one on the outside right forearm.

http://home.comcast.net/~joehulon/DrPepper1024tattoo_copy.jpg

and number three: Jeep, 1941... right calf on the outside

Can you explain the Dr. Pepper one?

The old Dr Pepper ads used to say "Come and Get it! Drink Dr Pepper/Good for Life/at 10 - 2 & 4 o'clock"

Hey, tats are a very personal thing- I can't call it. Go with the one that has the most meaning for you personally.

FanGirl

I'd go with the Bantha skull just because it looks the most bad assed. Also you won't have to worry about colors fading. Personally, I don't think I could ever get a tatoo. If I did, it would probably be batman's symbol.

Denyse

I'm with Fanny...
Also, I think the other 2 might require lots more explanation, but even if people don't know what a Bantha Skull is, they'll just assume it's something artistic.

This seems like the best choice to me. My brother has a tatoo of the tivo guy. I make fun of him, telling him its his couch potato marking. You'll regret getting a cheesy tattoo the moment it's finished.

Not to be conformist here, but I'd have to agree on the bantha skull. As a guy who's seen a lot of tats on a lot of people in a lot of different places, I think that's the most likely to keep you satisfied. And as Fangirl said, the colors not fading would be big too.

Post a pic when you get it down, bro--that would look pretty freakin' awesome.

DUde, the first one is the only one that looks like a tat. The others may have meaning (to you), but they look like ads.

I'd go with the bantha skull. It looks the most like a tat, the other two look like stickers.

Have you ever had any done on your back? I'm just wondering if it hurts worst than an arm?

Obviously, it has to be the bantha skull. The other two are cute, but bantha skull is the more 'kickass' tattoo.

It's a good thin we can't vote anymore, because i would be taking away some of Slizzel's stars...

I originally voted for Bantha, but i think i want to change to Dr. Pepper.

Maybe this....

If it's going to be the Dr. Pepper one, I prefer this one from an art/design aspect. http://home.comcast.net/~joehulon/DrPepper1024tattoo_copy.jpg It doesn't look so much like brand imaging, plus it's just more stylish with the art-deco. I just don't know if it would be as striking with peach skin as the background instead of the stark white. And white ink fades more than any other from sun exposure, followed closely by red......the other major color. Although my red tats are holding up really well.

How would that look in black n' gray? If it was all done in black/gray it might look better with the flesh being where the white part is.

Oh, and did I use that one already? It's silly how I forget these things.

The bantha skull doesn't appear to be as much of a slogan as the others do. It's has a more artistic feel because it's not used primarily for product pushing.

Yeah...I'm feeling a bit creepy.
Sometimes I can't get someone's old sig out of my head even when there is a new one there, so I don't really think it is that creepy.

Aren't most sigs based on something that is stuck in our heads anyway?

Does it strike anyone else as odd that Matt Dillon hasn't aged a day in many, many years?

I'm of Irish/Welsh descent... I make vampires look healthy.

The only two color tats I've got have done well- my first I got back '92 and it still looks fantastic. It's the American and Texas flags- the reds are still bright and the blues are still... blue. The other one I got back in '99 and it generates a lot of conversations...

http://home.comcast.net/~joehulon/snakecharmer.jpg

Have you ever had any done on your back? I'm just wondering if it hurts worst than an arm?

I've got one on my back, right on that knot of muscle and bone just below the neck. That one didn't hurt... much. I tend to fall asleep while the artist is working. The only ones I've got that hurt are the two on my chest- there's a bundle of nerves that run right through on the pectorals- every time the needle hit it, it felt like ice water rushing up into my head. Refreshing... Well, not really... The snake did hurt a little. The band wraps all the way round. Where it crosses near the elbow, the skins pretty thin and that hurt a lot. The only time I was awake during the whole process.

I want to thank everyone for voting. I'm getting the work done in July and I will definitely post some pics.

No wonder you can't get that job you want. Management can smell that ink a mile away. They can't see it, but they know it's there. It comes across, one way, or another. ;)

But seriously, a bud of mine has some tats on the upper arms and chest. If his bosses ever saw 'em, they'd freak.

Management just don't understand.

Someday, when someone asks me how many tattoos I have, I will be able to say "just one". :D

Oddly enough, most people don't even notice the ones on the insides of my forearms. I'd been at my current job for almost eighteen months when someone exclaimed "When did you get that?!"

"Thanks for noticing..."

We had this Evian flu problem the other night. My friend, Gay Brad, is well...you get it. So my boyfriend has this brand new hat that Gay Brad steals and takes home with him because he does that when he is flirting with straight men.

So the next day boyfriend-unit comes back to the loft with a brand new hat on. I said "Honey, we could have just gotten the hat back from Brad"

"But I don't want it." replies boyfriend-unit.

"But you won't catch the gay."

"It's not that. I just don't really want to deal with the drama that will preclude me getting my hat back. It's the drama I am worried about catching, and it's worth the $20."

I shut up...because he is so, so right.
