How great is this show? Seth Green is awesome. The stupid little things on the show kill me. Case in point from last night:
The quick scene with the two pirates on the ship. One guy has the ship's steering wheel over his crotch. The other one asks him what that's all about and he replies, "arr, it's driving me nuts!"
Now THAT'S good comedy.

Robot Chicken along with Tom Goes to the Mayor have become appointment viewing for me. Well, not literally appointment viewing, since I can watch them anytime I want thanks to the magic of Tivo. But you get the idea.
The supervillain carpool was a hilarious bit.

My best friend just sent me a tape with the first few Robot Chicken episodes on them, damn, that was funny. Almost enough to make me get cable, or at least to keep pestering my friends who have cable.

"Blockhead, blockhead, everyone's a blockhead." I loved the Charlie Brown special.
Robot Chicken kicks ass. Personally, Tom sucks ass...
(did I just say that out loud? *sticks head out into the hallway*)
Tom Goes to the Mayor is the greatest show ever produced by Cartoon Network...

Clearly you haven't seen the Balloon Race episode. And if you have and still hold the above opinion, well, then there is nothing I can do for you.

Darth Vader: "I am your father..."
Luke Skywalker: "That's impossible!"
DV: "And Princess Leia is your sister."
LS: "That's...improbable."
DV: "And the Empire will be defeated by Ewoks."
LS: "That's, uh..highly unlikely."
DV: "And as a child, I built C3PO."
LS: "Uh...."
*Cut to: DV drinking a cup'o'coffee and leaning on the rail, LS having a smoke*
DV: "...and the Force, well that's just microscopic bacteria in your bloodstream called midachlorians."
LS: "Look, if you're not gonna take this seriously, I'm out."
*Throws cigarette down and leaves in a huff.*
(And the sweetest part -- Hamill did the voice!)

Tape is something used by us cro-mag types that still pick up t.v. signals by attaching to long metal cylanders to the top and grabbing them free from the airwaves. Those of us who use our computer monitors to watch movies for the greater picture and sound than our little twelve inch screen can provide. It is still useful in the temporary recording of programs and does not require multiple subscriptions such and cable AND TiVo.

Personally, I think there have been maybe 5 funny minutes in all of the Robot Chicken episodes, the best being the Luke/Vader conversation that Gotherella posted. I think the show blows- I actually took it off of the season pass list on TiVo the other day.
I think Tom sucks too, but I only saw the first episode, and i hate Jack Black, so that's probably not fair of me to say.

I think that Robot definately has its moments, but on the whole, it's not all that great. The majority of the funny parts are just the short 2-5 second clips that they show in between the long, boring ones.
As for Tom, I can't stand the animation style, not to mention the fact that it's not even funny. I had to strain myself to watch the entire episode that I did.

Somehow it's funnier when it's told through stop-motion instead of live action.

I'm became a huge fan of Robot Chicken when it won me over with the old standby geeky Sci-Fi convention bit. It has now entered my "Keep until I delete" status on the mighty TiVo. But there's one point that vexes me. Is it me or does Robot Chicken sometimes seem like a rip-off of Wizard's Twisted Toyfare Theatre?

No, TTF is usually funny...Robot Chicken, aside from having the WORST intro in the history of TV, often is not funny.
TTF, I like.

I was just going to post that same thought. But I gotta say, TTT is consistently funny IMO, while I find RC to be really hit and miss. I supported the removal of the Season Pass, but would not be adverse to catching the odd episode.

Seth Green wrote the intro to one of the TTT collected editions, so I'm assuming he either is working with those guys or just ripped off the idea.
Yes, it's hit and miss, but it's only 15 minutes, so we watch it for the hits: Optimus Prime PSA for prostate cancer, Ode to the Nutshot, Benny Hill's funeral... Actually, looking through the episode list, it looks like we've missed some. Gotta change the season pass to repeat and first run.
Seth McFarlane shows up consistently in the voice credits...depends on which side of that argument you fall whether that's a good or bad thing.

One of the creators of Robot Chicken (the one who is not Seth Green) is one of the head muckky mucks of TTT. So RC is the stop motion of TTT.
