Tough choice- I'm voting TV. I'd lose too much giving up the 'Net, and there's always DVD's...

EDIT: By the way, I don't plan on becoming "Poll Guy", just thought it was an interesting question.

Tough choiceI picked Internet only because I can access it from work or the library. If I had to give up the internet altogether I'd give up TV instead.

TV, The only thing I care to watch is Scrubs. Everything else is a bonus. Plus my dvd collection is near 700 now. I think I will be entertained.

I votedinternet also. Primarily because I can get online at other locations besides my house. Hell, I just need to get the ol wireless card for the laptop, then drive arou......nevermind.

I can always go to the library.

I'd give up the cable since I watch enough TV at work. But then I'm screwed because I get my internet through my cable provider...

damn.

Screw cable, I can get any show I want from bittorent, but I think I'd die without the internet...

I agree!! Give me back my TV!! I was crossing my fingers behind my back when I gave it away, so it doesn't count!!!

Please... I can live without TV. I can get everything I need on the Internet.

Well, I don't have internet service at home, so I guess I've already chosen. I doubt my computer could even handle it. I can live without cable, basically since you can buy most of the good shows on dvd now anyways, but until I buy a new computer, I guess the internet is my choice.

But what about the new episodes of the shows you like? Are you willing to wait a year or more for them to come out on DVD just to watch them?

Dave

But you guys, Bittorrent is stealing!!!!!

Seriously, i have already made this choice, I got rid of the internet at home and just access thru work, and kept the cable. (cheap shitty, no HBO cable)

Sure, I guess I could wait. If there is something I feel I really need to see, I can always stop by my parents or a friends house.

Cable by far; the only cable channel I consistently watch is Comedy Central and half of what they air is Mad TV. Without cable, I could still get my Simpsons, Lost, Arrested Development, Family Guy, and eating cereal in socks and underwear while zombie-ing out in front of random moving pictures and noises......fix.

this is only while the local channels still send Analog signals over the airwaves. Currently that is supposed to be over in 2006, but with the penetration of High Def sets still low (but rapidly growing) i believe it will be pushed a few more years.

Neither. Give me technology or give me death! I wouldn't even give up my iPod shuffle. It keeps me sane on my long commutes to and from work from my cesspool to the sweatshop and back again. (well, that and my drumsticks, I use them to keep the beat when traffic really backs up) To paraphrase, "you can take my iPod when you pry it from my cold dead hands, you bastards!" Even the worst tv has some minimum entertainment value. Like when I'm too tired to care what's on.

I too have an iPod shuffle that I take everywhere, and listen to in the car.......and drum on the steering wheel to with drum sticks I keep on the back seat....

Have we seriously reached the nexus of the universe already?

DVD's and downloads it is then.

Yes, I think we have. My god, it's full of stars!

If it came down to a choice of either cable/tv/dvd's or the internet that I had to permantley give up I believe that I would give up the cable/tv/dvd's. Granted, the TV and it's accessories are wonderful items to have, yet it seems that the internet has a lot more to offer, including anything that you could view on the tv.
I just hope it never comes down to making that choice.

I think that I've mentioned before that I could easily part with cable now that I have Sirius radio. 10 months and I still feel the same.

I could get rid of the cable. Besides, I only watch a hand full of shows and I love my internet. Plus, I could always find shows on the internet...

I'd rather lose internet, you can go to the library and use the internet.

I think that saying "I'll just drop my internet connection and use it at work or the library instead," is a cop-out. We can all do that. Hell, some of us only do that now. This board gets mighty quiet after working hours (like now.) Similarly saying you'll watch DVDs at home instead of TV is a cop-out.

If that's the question, then sure - I'll just do internet at lunch hour at work, and keep my TV and Tivo at home. I can't watch TV at work, but I can do this there. BFD.

But could you do without either of the choices altogether? Which screen could you totally do without? No internet AT ALL or no TV set AT ALL? Isn't that the hard choice? Me, I'd keep the TV. I'm a visual person - I need pictures. And I'm a race fan - I need my Speed Channel. And I love toons - I need Adult Swim , etc. I've got a buttload of CDs, and I'd spend more time practicing my guitar, etc.

Damn you AS for making this a harder choice! I think i'd still pick the Internet to lose (this is assuming i'm still allowed to only use it for work purposes, where i actually need it) i got around just fine before it, i can make it with out it i guess. Back to the world of Encyclopedias and Magazines for me.

Again, I say you can have my TV, my Tivo, and my DSL when you pry them from my cold, dead hands.

I do very well without TV. As long as you don't take away my books.

My problem is that my internet access is through my cable TV, so if I give up TV, I also give up internet.

cable/tv, if the shows are good enough they'll make to dvd, except in some cases where the vhs of a few old taped episodes is the last resort (I feel this way about most of my childhood, except I don't have any of the shows taped.)

And anything else as already stated can be downstoleded via the net. Like vol.2 of clone wars.

I'd give up my television. the internet, yet slow, has more fun things to do. i usually just turn the tv on whn i'm downloading something big. i could just listen to my mp3 player.
