The new season was supposed to start on May 31st. Comedy Central announced the other day that it will be indefinetly postponed. CNN.com reports:
"I'm definitely stressed out," said Chappelle, who took off last month to South Africa for a "spiritual retreat," leaving his fans -- and even his agent and publicist -- wondering where he went.

After Comedy Central announced that the planned May 31 debut of the third season of "Chappelle's Show" had been postponed, the magazine Entertainment Weekly reported that Chappelle had checked himself into a mental health facility in South Africa.

"I'm not in a mental facility," said Chappelle, who also said he did not have a drug problem but had consulted a psychiatrist for one 40-minute visit.
he wasn't happy with the direction of the show, which is behind only "South Park" as Comedy Central's most-watched program.

What is really wild is that CC just inked a new $50 million dollar 2 year deal w/ him because the DVD is the highest selling DVD of all time for a TV series.
Do you think that he will be back with a new season?

Well if comedy central just shelled out 50 million he does not have a choice . If he wants the money anyway. He'll be back. Comedy Central has mad him a rich man.

I would say yes, i read in EW last night that he has already recorded sketches for 4 to 5 shows, but hasn't recorded the "live" opens for them yet. So at the very least, i'd say we have a short season. (or perhaps a 2 hour special joining the sketches).

CC reported that the $50 million wasn't neccessarily for new seasons, only for dvd's.... since they brought in over $56 Million for them last year for Chappelle's show Season 1

Okay, didn't we already discuss this here or am I thinking of the VA Boards? I know there is at least one thread on this topic there?

Also, do you think this will let Mariah Carey off the hook now?

It's postponed because Chapelle is one lazy bitch. He's lazy from all that damned reefer.
