I never watched much Smurfs. Not enough to be an expert, anyway. But did they sneak a few of those in the show. I thought I heard one of 'em say "What the Smurf?" once or twice. True? Was I hearing things?

Yes, they used the word Smurf in place of anything.

eg: "I smurfed her in the smurf last night. It was smurfing great!"

I KNOW [dripping with sarcasm] they use Smurf everyplace, but did they use it as a curseword bleep to see if anyone would notice? I thought I heard it once or twice for real.

Another I think I heard: "Let's get the Smurf out of here!"

In the Smurfs, the word smurf was used to replace cuss words and to insert inuendo just as they use frack in Battlestar Galactica.
