IESB has confirmed that Kevin Smithwill indeed be involved in the forthcoming live-action Star Wars TV Series.

According to the site, "Kevin's involvement will be in the writing and directing of at least a three episode story arch."

If that is true then I am now in TV Heaven!!!

Also, I checked in with http://www.newsaskew.com/ and saw that Ben Affleck is expecting a child with Jennifer. Wow, that is such great news. Congrats to them ( if it is true).

So Lots of things to look forward to. :D

Wow. I just killed an hour cruising through Kev's Rotten Tomatoes stuff and his blog. Dude is busy and I had fallen way behind. Lots of good stuff there.

Not sure how I feel about this, though:

I bet he'll tell us about this series of movies about a space rebellion with giant stars of death and swords made of light beams! It'll be called The Fight Amongst the Stars.

If you check out Kevin's current Boring Life thread - he's linked to the archive. Not sure why they deleted it though.

Here (http://www.viewaskew.com/archives/rt/) you go.

I Love Star Wars and I love Kevin Smith movies. My fear is that the two will go together like peanut butter and tuna fish. That being said though, I am willing to give him and Lucas the benefit of the doubt until I see the shows. Hopefully, I am worried over nothing.

I tend to agree, being a big fan of something doesn't necesarrily mean you could direct an instance of it well. I'm not saying that to shit on anyone, I'm just saying that I love Star Wars, but I doubt I could direct one that a lot of people would also love. Then again, the Talented Mr. Smith is a director, and I ain't....

Does this hit your mind as well:

"I think we can all agree that the last thing this world needs is a Star Wars television show where characters like Han Solo and Lando stand around outside of the Mos Eisley Cantina talking about blunts and snoogans and the reason the rebels are evil for killing all those Imperial contractors on the second Death Star."

I think it is funny, but that isn't really my worry. I think that Smith is smart enough to avoid taking the SW franchise in that direction and I agree with the article (Lucas is too smart to let him either). My biggest worry is that Star Wars has a lot of motion and action in it. KS hasn't exactly done a lot of that type of work and I think Star Wars is kind of a big franchise to learn on.

He's a big boy and all, but I'll bet somewhere inside he is wishing he would have done that Green Arrow movie so that he could have learned action on something where the stakes were a bit lower.

I don't mean to get picky, but don't you have to be dead to be in TV Heaven?

I might understand some skepticism about Kevin directing action, but as far as any doubts concerning his ability to write action, I refer you to Guardian Devil.

Indeed, Kev's comic work proves that he knows the power of storytelling in conjunction with mythology. I'm sure Kev could really bring together the force, magic powers, rebellions, young princesses, etc. that are all central to the popularity of star wars.

Yeah, that doesn't worry me at all. The guy's own mythology has naked chicks posting about what he had for breakfast on the view askew boards. I think he can probably keep the force and rebellions straight. Action is hard to do well though. I think you really have to bring something new to the genre to be any less than mediocre. I hope he has some good ideas and isn't just relying on the old, "It's only TV" mentality because I will be seriously disappointed. I also hope the expectations don't drive him to a treatment center in South Africa.

Thanks Matt1 for putting a little more of my money into Kevin Smith's pocket. I will check out the book.
