It's not one of my favorite films and I don't own it, but I do like the movie a lot. I consider it a classic, even.

Well Donna either you are gonna love this or hate it as John Hughes is tinkering around with the idea of making remake or sequel to the Club. Lets hope not eh?

Nooooooo....I hope there isn't a sequel or remake to that movie. God, why can't they think of different ideas for movies instead of rehashing other peoples ideas....

I agree, some new ideas would be awesome, the last real new idea in cinema was the Matrix that was awhile ago lets start making more new ideas all you media people.

Here's how it could be cool:

If Judd Nelson's character was now completely drug-free and actually principal of that same high school. Of course, he's forgotten his wild party days, so it'll take some new stoner to remind him of the good ol' days and shake him out of his boring adulthood. In fact, there will even be a scene where this new guy grabs the principal by the shirt and thrusts a joint at him, saying "Hey, smoke up, Johnny" in a nod to fans of the original movie. Hilarity ensues.

Emilio Estevez's character has come out of the closet, because anyone who used to wrestle in high school and taped guys' butt-cheeks together obviously had some unresolved issues. He's forever searching for a father figure because his own bigoted father, who he always tried to please, is fully disapproving of his lifestyle. He falls for a grown yet still somewhat childlike "Kevin" from Home Alone, in another nod to John Hughes fans. Hilarity ensues.

Ally Sheedy has three kids that live with her in a shanty town. Unfortunately for her, back in high school, some wrestler helped her get made up and look pretty and as soon as that happened, she was having illicit sex all over town. Her three kids are from three different fathers (one of whom is a certain ex-principal from the first movie in a nod to fans of the original) and the whole family lives in a shanty town out in right field of the high school baseball field. Her children, one played by "Curly Sue" in another nod to John Hughes fans, all get busted for robbing the school's petty cash to get their mom some dandruff shampoo. They get assigned to a Saturday detention and that's really where our movie kicks into high gear. Hilarity DEFINITELY ensues in that special John Hughes way.

Molly Ringwald's "Claire" has fallen on hard times. After a rough bought of trichinosis brought on by spoiled sushi she ate at a high school detention once, she dropped out of school early and married a construction worker, because he reminded her of Judd Nelson. Of course, he was also an abusive bastard so she left him and moved back in with her parents. She's now an unsteady, aimless mess living off her parents' trust fund, and she considers looking up Judd Nelson's character. Hilarity ensues.

Anthony Michael Hall's character had his thyroid go crazy after high school, blowing him up to huge proportions. He decided to pay back all the people that picked on him, so he turned into a small-time thug and enforcer, beating people for welching on gambling debts. His boss, the local drug lord, is played by Ferris Bueller's "Ed Rooney," in another nod to old Hughes fans. Hilarity just keeps on ensuing.

Music by Jim Kerr of SIMPLE MINDS, 'natch. Coming Summer 2006.

Jeebus, that was entertaining. I am starting to wonder if I have you to blame for these sequals. A shanty-town? Outside a high school? In Illinois?

So tell us, what will "Pretty in Pink: The Wrinkly Years" look like? "St. Elmos: On Fire Yet Again"?

the should make the book looking for Andrew McCarthy into a film in honour to the god that once was...

otherwise leave well alone!

Now that was funny! I like the outcome for Anthony Michael Hall although I have a feeling that the guy that played Ed Rooney ain't gonna be available for a remake. Even though St. Elmo's Fire isn't a Hughes film, it would be a better vehicle for a Brat Pack reunion. It would be perfect for a "where are they now" continuation. I do wish that a Special Edition DVD would be released for Breakfast Club with a 5.1 soundtrack and some special features. There was a re-release scheduled earlier that was cancelled, so hopefully it was delayed to give it the treatment it deserves.

I think there won't be a sequel to St. Elmo's fire, sorry. But other than that some really interesting ideas. Hey maybe the fat cats at the top will get some cool ideas from us.

All I ask of the sequel is that it has the kids running through the hallway and then sliding on the floor and around the corner. For, perhaps, 45 minutes or so. That shot is one of the most memorable in cinematic history, topped only by the shot from A Christmas Story in which Santa's boot pushes Ralphie down the slide.

I think we're all set with sequels, seriously this summer everything that looks good is either Bruce Almighty or a sequel, it gets boring.

Joliet...Richard Speck and John Wanyne Gacy were both in prison there a little useless fact

Zens_7s

No - it is a city on the south end of Chicagoland. It's the location of a maximum security prison that housed such lovely people as John Wayne Gacy. It used to be a big refinery area, but most are closed down now. I hear it has improved, but not by much.

If you have ever seen The Blues Brothers, that is why they call him "Joliet Jake".

You are also correct. It is called Joliet Correctional Center. The thing has been there for 150+ years. The locals don't seem to be bothered by it. They hold cross-country meets on the outside grounds. It freaks me out.

I interned at a local TV station when I was in high school. One of our reporters got to be a witness at his execution in Stateville (aka - Joliet Correctional Center).
