View Full Version : Equal rights for all shooters!

Question:
Why do some people have to tip-toe around here with fear of a posse of shooters jumping on them, when others can be condesending, bitter, and passive agressive, jumping down anyone's throat at any time for any reason? (NOT meaning RB of course)

Dude, I don't mean to be a dick or anything, but just how many fucking arguments do you have to get into each month? Is there like a fucking quota with you? You know damn well your post is gonna cause an argument, then after about 3 or 4 people gang up on you, you are gonna say some shit like..."Wait a minute, my original question wasn't meant to provoke an argument." When you and everyone else knows damn well it was.

I know that's how it sounds, but I think things just keep getting worse. If something is up for debate and I open my mouth, I get friggin' smoked--it's happened each time in all the more popular threads I've participated in over the past week or so. I'd like to know what the freakin' deal is myself.
Maybe if people want to argue or smoke people they can limit it to designated threads. I may not have median viewpoints for the average shooter, but I've always felt welcome regardless. Something's changed recently, and it's bleeding into all the topics of conversation. If people are PMSing or are just having a hard time at home, that's okay--just don't take it out on people who are trying to get away from the same kind of stuff at work/home/school.
I can trace how this has been developing, if you'd like, but you know it too. I hate arguments, and I want this to go away, but it's not happening, and maybe it's best to address it--who knows. I for one have never seen Chris have to freakin' close a thread until two days ago. That's just not normal around here. And if this is taken the wrong way too, I'll just shut my mouth, because I'd rather leave than cause bad vibes.

Personally, I think there's a lot of "this is what it is" type of talk and not enough "this is what I think it is" type of talk. Everyone just has to keep in mind that we all have different perspectives, and none of them are right or wrong....they are just our own.

Well, the only thing I have noticed is that it appears we have some people who just seem to be a bit more passionate about their beliefs and if you contradict them, they get all pissy and try to insult you for not believing the way they do. I think that if it weren't for that and if these people would just understand that it is okay for others to believe contrary to them, we would go back to the normal heated debates.

Agreed, Karma. I learned to write declaratively in high school, so I have the habit of just stating my opinions, rather than prefacing them, "In my opinion...". I just assume everyone will realize its my own opinion by virtue of the fact that I am the one saying it.

Dudes...
I hate to agree with Ratm here, not because I don't like Ratm, but because I know I'm asking for it...in a "Bring on the pain" kind of way...
For me, it's not the type of debate, nor is it the passion of the debate, it's 1) the inability to let someone have a contrary point of view without getting into a 5 pages of posts argument, and 2) the frequency of the arguments. I'm getting a little tired of reading a post from some of you, and groaning at what I know is coming...never to be disappointed. How about we all pick our battles and respect that others have differing perspectives, instead of making it a mission in life to change everyones minds or flat out call them wrong? It would be such a nice place if we would all just agree to disagree, up front!
Now, time-outs for everyone...and don't get off that chair until you can all say you are sorry.
Hey...Don't make me get the hose!

I'd say that disagreement is welcomed, personal attacks are not. What I also believe is that if the same person (cough, cough) gets 5 private messages from 5 different people that they need to calm down or back off, it's probably not meant in a vindictive way. Personally, no one has ever asked me to calm down or back off, but, you'd better believe that I would if I did get those messages.
As long as it doesn't get personal, I think we can agree that a little healthy debate is, well, healthy. Making posts with the express intent of causing trouble is probably never a good idea.
If people aren't calling each other names or getting personal, what's the problem? That sometimes people disagree with opinions, or, Heaven forfend, we may LOSE an argument sometimes? There's no shame in that! The shame is in resorting to name calling and personal attacks.
I actually ratted on the thread that got closed to Ryall, I take no shame in that. The thread was spiraling downward with no hope of coming back, so I let The Man know, and he closed it. The system worked.

Contrary to the belief of 4 people on this board I am not a bitter person in real life, nor do I want to pit people against each other. I was just saying that I have seen some people on this board totally slam others without any provocation, they attack without warning, and have slammed others just because of a disagreement in ideology. I have seen this happen several times, to people besides just me, and when those people being attacked respond, they get jumped on by at least 2 others.
There are more that feel this way besides me, so I know it is not just me.
I started getting bitter several months ago here when I saw this over and over again, and yes, I did attack some others. I was wrong, and I believe I said I was wrong. I have learned that you do not respond to shit with shit.
In the last 24 hours, I have seen 2 others get slammed and provoked.
SO, The entire point of this thread is this it hardly seems fair that some can just call names, and be condescending and get egged on, while the recipients of these attacks need to just sit there and take it. I am tired of it.
I guess what I think needs to stop is if you say you are going to not get personal, then DO get personal you are being hypocritical. I will be the first to admit I have been guilty of this, but I am not going to stoop to that anymore. I will however point out what I mean if I THINK it happens, and if I am wrong I am wrong. Sometimes people do not realize what they are doing can be hurtful, and again, that has been me, but not only me.

When have you ever tiptoed? ;)
I honestly don't think the fights have been that bad, lately. Certainly nothing justifying shutting down a thread (although I am greatly amused that Efexeye narced on himself).
That said, I hereby solemnly swear not to rag on Matthew (unless he asks for it, of course). :D

Agreed. Call it "writing declaritively" or call it "JJ's always right". Either way, I'm always right. If you disagree with me, I'll tell you that you're wrong, just without the worthless name-calling...have I ever called anybody names on here? Hope I haven't stooped to that.

Yes, when are you going to come out and admit to all other shooters that you do not just dress and look like a girl, but actually have a vagina?

You are the one that claimed to be pregnant with a baby from a man, and you are the one that said you will bring him up exact opposite from what said man believes.
This makes you a bitter person with a vagina. Can't get away from this one Mark (or should I say 'Markaila)

You know, Matthew, I think that all you're looking for is a fight, and maybe there's some stuff going on in your life that makes you feel that way, but it seems to me like you are one of the people that everyone has to tiptoe around. You seem to think that just because I'm a noob, you can talk to me like I don't matter, don't exist, but just remember, you were a noob once too, and maybe you should try to respect the other people on the board before demanding that everyone else respect you.

No, this is an example of witty banter. They're having fun with each other, so it is a newb thing. When psycho left, the fights were fun and a lot more lighthearted, and I'm sure he'll take it as such.
