Well this is a subject I feel very strongly about so please excuse me if I sound mean...
I WANT FAMILY GUY BACK. Why would they cancel a show which is so awesome. So what if some assholes felt they were being made fun of, tell those assholes to go play hide and go [censored] yourselves. I think there should be a huge ceromony in honor of the funniest show ever on television. Eceryone I know is pissed off about the show being cancelled, this is about 2 years of nothing good on Thursdays at 8. The real Griffins who sued the creators should be cast out of society and the show should be brought back with a [censored] you message to them.

If you miss FAMILY GUY that much, go ask a retarded five year old to tell you knock knock jokes, and sometimes have him shout out pop culture references ("where's the beef!" "silver spoons" are always good) in between each one. It's like FAMILY GUY is right in front of you.

Oh, that’s a fair cop. What’s up with the venom some people have for Family Guy? I think the writing for the show is hilarious. Is the show funny? That’s arguable. But come on, Brian, more effort and thought went into the show than you give credit for. I think you’re just being salty.

I despise this show. SIMPSONS comparisons (read: outright shameless rip-offs) aside, the sheer number of unfunny jokes this show flings at you every two seconds, maybe landing 1 out of every 20, just smacks of "love me! we're funny! really, this is hilarious stuff, oh, why won't you LOVE ME?!"
Or, putting it another way, I'd even watch THE PJ'S instead of that. And THE CRITIC was even far superior to it.
Otherwise, I'm sure it's a fine show.

Salty Dog! You’re fired. I don’t know. I guess you guys are allowed to not like it. I’m surprised, though. Surprised and hurt. If you have a moment, tell me what you think of the following movies. I’m trying to get a feel (It’s not what you’re thinking. That’s cop a feel. Completely different.) for your sense of humor. Looking for a funny/not funny response. Any additional comments are welcome.
Super Troopers?
Young Frankenstein?
The Life of Brian?
Raising Arizona?
CB4?
Spinal Tap?
Jackass: The Movie?

Just can't stand the show. The most unpleasant voices for nearly every character (with the exception of the talking dog, granted) make the show nearly impossible to sit through for me. After about two minutes of the husband and wife talking, I become biologically compelled to change the channel, I find the voices so grating.
As for the writing, there are usually one or two laugh-out-loud jokes in each episode, but you have to wade through so many failed attempts at humor and forced pop-culture references to get to them, it's just not worth the effort.
Nope, not a fan.

Never saw Super Troopers or CB4, but enjoyed all the other movies on your list.

I admit I kinda like busting on the show more because a lot of its fans are so irrationally protective of it. Oh, the hate mail my comments on that show have gotten me...
Super Troopers?
Funny at times but I expected funnier. I like KIDS IN THE HALL better (but not BRAIN CANDY...)
Young Frankenstein?
Funny. Love old Mel Brooks. And any movie with Marty Feldman rules.
The Life of Brian?
Funny but I still prefer HOLY GRAIL more.
Raising Arizona?
Funny--love the Coens.
CB4?
Didn't see it but other Chris Rock movies haven't made me laugh as much as his stand-up.
Spinal Tap?
Perfect movie.
Jackass: The Movie?
Funny.

I guess it’s just one of them there things. A few issues ago you asked what it took to earn one’s trust with regard to movie advice. Great question, especially for someone like me with limited funds. Based on the answers that you both gave about the movies I listed, I’d say that we’d probably agree on more things than not.
But if I based my decision of whether or not to watch Family Guy on your critiques, I would’ve missed out on something I’ve come to enjoy quite a bit. I suppose I make some very basic, very stupid formulaic assumptions. If ScottTipton likes A then ScottTipton likes B, and then he’ll tell two friends, and so on, and so on. I like the Simpsons. I like Family Guy. You all like the Simpsons, and therefore we all must like Family Guy. Wrong! Thanks for playing, Tom. Run along now.
Have you ever been baffled by the recomendations that come with DVD’s? If you enjoyed Die Hard, you’ll also like:
Die Hard: With A Vengeance
My Dinner with Andre
Alfredo, Alfredo
I guess we can file the Family Guy debate in the "best left unsolved" catagory.

Someone once said to me "Brian, DUDE WHERE'S MY CAR seems like it would be like YOUR MOVIE totally!"
I hate them.

Ouch. Someone I once called a friend convinced me to see Harlem Nights. I feel your pain, man. And while this is the wrong forum for saying so, you nailed Lipton. I mean that your parody was well done, not that you...and he.....I wasn’t suggesting that....well, you know.

I'm that way with Anime. It never clicked with me. Anyone I knew who was into it would assume that because of things we did agree on (which was never everything) that I MUST like this one, or this one, or this one. It seemed that once I said I didn't like it, I spent all my time appeasing people by sampling stuff my distaste grew for. Now when somebody suggests I try this one or that, I suggest they go hentai on themselves. Too many bad friends burned me by not knowing my tastes.

I've been watching the Family Guy repeats in Cartoon Network and Family Guy is hilarious.
