Here's what was good:
The Rock
Vince Vaughn
Andre 3000
Uma in the bikini
Here's what was bad:
John Travolta
Uma's acting--you're The Bride! You're better than this
Harvey Keitel, who couldn't have been more miscast. F. Gary Gray was really going for some Pulp Fiction cool, wasn't he? Too bad both Keitel and Travolta are way too far past cool to ever pull it off.
The story. Wait, was there a story? No? Then why was this movie so long?
The music. This r&b girl was opening for... Aerosmith? What, did every relevant pass on this one? Travolta's shylock character is a big Black Eyed Peas fan? Why didn't he just say "Hey, Uma, we have soundtracks to sell. Let's do a sad attempt at capturing Pulp Fiction glory by dancing to this band that's on the soundtrack."
The product placement. "The HONDA INSIGHT is the Cadillac of gas-electric hybrid vehicles." Really? "Yeah, it gets 57 miles to the gallon." Later... "What, you can't get your T-MOBILE SIDEKICK to work?" "Let me call you on my T-MOBILE phone--uh, can we get a close-up on the logo? Thanks."
Man, this movie made me cringe. What a wreck. However, it continued to make me think the Rock is one of the most likeable people in Hollywood. And Vince Vaughn was once again better than the movie he was stuck in (even he couldn't save DODGEBALL, though).
I knew I should've skipped and saw THE JACKET or something.
