I need songs having to do with breakup's, infidelity, old age, and parenthood. It's for a class project. Particularly songs where the unfaithful party is begging the wronged lover for forgiveness. Any assistance you could render would be deeply appreciated. Gracias.

"Stay" - Lisa Loeb
"Apology" - Go Gos
"Forgive me love" Alanis Morisette

Are three that leap to minf for forgiveness.

"Cats in the Cradle" - Harry Chapin
is the only one I can think of for parenthood

"I wanna grow old with you" - Adam Sandler
is perfect for old age.

"When I'm 64" is another great one for growing old.

My fave breakup song is - Sexed up by Robbie Williams.

Infidelity? hmmm only that Shaggy song comes to mind.. Wasn't Me?

Old Age? When I'm 64... yeah I got nothing (EDIT - Guess I should have read the previous posts huh!)

Parenthood - Just the two of us: Will Smith

I found this (http://breakup-songs.com/best100songs.html) if it matters at all. Seems to be a few good ones there.

Twentycent Goodbye - Goldfinger
Sorry - Nerf Herder

Hope they help.

Springsteen's "Brilliant Disguise" is a good example. So is "Tunnel of Love," and "One Step up." In fact the whole Tunnel of Love album would suit your needs.

Ryan Adams, "Come Pick Me Up" and "Dear Chicago" would fit tremendously.

Going back to my old punk rock days, both "Gone" and "Over It" by Pulley. Keeping with the punk motif, "We Have to Figure it out Tonight" by the Beatsteaks is an excellent song.

Digging out a late 90's song, "For the Movies" by Buckcherry.

Just about any Elliot Smith song.

Ahhh, I almost forgot "Bad Reputaion," by Freedy Johnston.

I'm sorry, but this is all I could think of without my full dose of coffee. I'll think of more if you need them.

The Frank Black & the Catholics (http://www.spinartrecords.com/site/bandpage.php?id=11) Album "Show me your Tears" is all about his break up with his wife. It's one big salty tear. I highly recommend it.

Another one for growing old...

"In My Life" from the greatest songwriting duo in history. I like the Johnny Cash version better. It just sounds more poigniant sang by an old man who's lived the love of a lifetime and seen friends come and go.

[/ QUOTE ] I believe we've had this conversation.

That would only be applicable if it were a class with only middle-school girls, or if the class is on GLBT studies.

It's never applicable.

You're right. Banality and mediocrity aren't good examples for any audience.

Now that was just cruel, and by that I mean true.

No, we never had a conversation about it. You just stated that Maroon 5 sucks. I disagree. Also:

That reminds me, Lenny Kravitz did a whole album about breaking up with Lisa Bonnet which include:

It ain't Over 'Till It's over (breaking up)
Can't Get You Off of my Mind (breaking up)
I Built this garden for us (growing old)

Isnt that Depeche Mode song "Enjoy the silence" about parenthood? Like its about his child? I dont know thats what I've always gotten from the song

Words like violence
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world
Painful to me
Pierce right through me
Can't you understand
Oh my little girl
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
Vows are spoken
To be broken
Feelings are intense
Words are trivial
Pleasures remain
So does the pain
Words are meaningless
And forgettable
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
Enjoy the silence.
