So, I went to see Constantine and noticed two different people using digital recorders during the movie. I always thought I would report people doing this if I saw it but when I was actually faced by the situation I didn't. It just seemed like I'd be met by ignorant theater employees and end up missing half the movie for nothing. Now I feel bad about it. Would you have done differently?

You paid upwards of $9.00 not including popcorn and beverages? The pirated copies will end up on the street for about $5-$10, with theater coughs and people getting up to pee; the person who buys it on the street (which does not necessarily mean they would buy it at full retail price) gets the low quality crap they pay for.
If I spent my hard earned money, I wouldn't go anywhere unless I knew there was a voucher for a free pass to be used at a later time.
It's not your job to police the theaters, and you are not responsible for the actions of others.

Who gets up to pee during a movie?
I stay the whole movie.

When I saw the Doors, not knowing how long a flick it was, I drank the big soda (you know the one they wheel in on a cart.) and I held my pee, vowing to never do that again for a long movie!
I did not follow said vow, but the last long movie I saw at the theater (LOTR 3) I did not mind getting up a few times, flirting with the pop lady, calling my mom, and peeing again, only to go back and see that Frodo and Sam made it only 1/3 way up the hill.
Alfred Hitchcock was right, a movie should never be longer than 90 minutes, as that is how long it takes for most people to digest enough water to fill their bladder.

I would drag the guy out into a back alley somwhere, beat him senseless, call him a girls name, spit on him, then take his digital recorder and go back in and finish recording the movie myself. Then when the movie is over, go back out to where the guy is lying in a puddle of his own piss and return the recorder to him with a note saying "if you want things done right, you have to do it yourself" and leave singing the Singapore national anthem.

Oh yeah, that's what I'll do next time for sure. I knew learning that anthem would come in handy some day. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Not me. Nothing feels better than the long sometimes painful pee that comes after the movie.
Amen to that- I still remember the one after Gladiator.

Personally, I agree with what Robbo said.
I have a shit-ton of bootlegs of different varieties and maybe 4 or 5 of them were recorded in the theater. Theater bootlegs aren't hurting much of anything -- I don't know anyone who settles for that shite. DVD and film reel rips might be. I don't feel guilty about it because any movie I see as a bootleg and like, I spread the word on and get people in the theater to see. If it's good enough, I'll even get in there myself just to see it on a huge screen with theater sound. Then, I'll buy the DVD. Not that it's a victimless crime, but the movie studio food chain isn't hurting. Plus, if critics and the Acamedy can see screeners, so can a poor schmo like me who loves movies and can't afford to see every $8 turd that gets churned out. I did go and see Constantine in the theater though. What did you think? I really liked it.
Anyway, even though what they are doing is wrong, if it's not disturbing your movie-watching experience I say it's not your responsibility. But if you're feeling guilty for not doing the "right thing," then you should answer to your conscience.
And that's all I have to say about thayut.

Thanks for saying that. I'm a lot less traumatized by it now than I was.
I was surprised by how much I liked "Constantine." It was very well done. Never once did I think to myself that Keanu or Rachel were distractions. Tilda Swinton as Gabriel was awesome and creepy. My only complaint is that they probably cut out some of that alcoholic priest's stuff so I'll have to see a director's cut if it becomes available.

I was a little thrown off at first by Keanu, but that faded quickly.
I keep thinking about the part where he put the cigarette out in his own blood. If I was a superhero who smoked and fought demons, that is SO something I would do.

Oh yeah, me too. In fact, I'd probably start smoking just so I could do that and have those cool scenes where I pause to look disdainful while I light up.
I also wanted to add that the special effects were nice but didn't distract from the film. That alone seems like a huge accomplishment anymore.

That was almost an iconic moment in the film, a little bit of character that gets to have a cool bit of action with out feeling forced. So what if ol' Keanu ain't brittish or blonde, my girlfriend knew nothing of that and just thought it was a good flick. I put it aside quickly and just enjoyed the fact they got to the essence of the character (except the gum at the end, sigh). I thought it was as good of an adaptation as "Hellboy".

I liked Constantine much more that I remembered liking the comic book. It was a little cheesy at times, but I really liked the effects and camera work. My girlfriend said she hated it, but I don't know how it is possible to hate something that you sleep through.

I had no intentions on seeing this movie, because I can't sit in a theater and watch Keanu's 'acting' for more than 30 minutes. But, the film was pretty good. I liked it a lot. Very interesting. Scared me at times, but I am such a whimp. Too bad I didn't have a guy's arm to hold onto during the scary parts. Shucks!

I LOVE Keanu.. I think I may be the only one in the world who does though.
