It was one of the truly great, epic nights out. So. Much. Win.

Everyone from my class was on top form and we all got disgustingly wasted, but we must have all worn our Dylan Moran hats, because I haven't laughed that much in ages. I think I'm still hung over two mornings later.

The 'Bandits were hilarious, needless to say, and I even got to speak to one of them beforehand. He was walking through our college courtyard, incognito since he wasn't wearing a bag over his face. I've seen a picture of their faces so I recognised him and I walked over, shook his hand, thanked him for coming to our college and told him I was looking forward to the gig. He just smiled and said, "I have no idea what you're talking about...but thanks" in a thick Limerick accent. :D

Your first mistake was assuming that I'm drinking a good brand of cider. :D

I don't have a clue about American brands, if there even are any past the micro brewery level. Bulmers (called Magners internationally) is the biggest Irish brand, and it's incredibly tasty served in a pint glass full of ice on a hot day.

I'm guessing Strongbow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyEkn1SZxrs) is probably the biggest brand internationally. It's a drier cider, with a stronger alcoholic content. A couple cans of it for a novice and they'd be on their ear.

Aaron could probably tell you how best to acquire cider in Texas, since he must have tried whenever he visited there. I fear his answer will be something along the lines of, "I learned to love beer".

Best stuff I could find in the states was Woodchuck.

It comes in a few different flavours and all the ones I've tried have been quite tasty if a little on the sweet side. Unfortunately they come in tiny bottles but I've found it on draught in a lot of places.

As far as what's good in general and apart from the brands Phitzy has mentioned...

The Swedes seem to do a great job with cider. Rekoderlig comes in some great and unusual flavours and is a good mix of sweet and dry.

Another Swedish one, Kopperberg is possibly the best cider I've found outside of Bulmers/Magners. Their pear flavour would be a go-to drink of mine when out in the pub.
