View Full Version : Two shallow and needy things from me
Ryall

One, I'm getting overrun, so I'm looking to unload a bunch of comics. First assortment is up on eBay right now if anyone wants Identity Crisis, Astonishing X-Men or other such things:
eBay crap (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZchris_ryallQQhtZ-1)
The second is even more ridiculous... for some reason, I entered this local morning news contest-type-thing where they're giving away a stay at a hotel, dinner, massage, blah blah to whoever wins for "best engagement story" (I know, right?). For some reason... I entered. And they tell me I'm a finalist now, with voting open as of tomorrow (2/21). The last thing I want to do is lose to other schmucks who entered a morning show contest, and I thought this would be a funny little "extra" anniversary thing for the wife, since that's only a month or so away. So, you know, if you feel like it, vote for me! Please! (http://www.10news.com/sponsors/4212939/detail.html)
And meanwhile, I'll try not to be too ashamed of using this board for such things...

So, if I buy comics from you I want them signed by you. That way when you are a comics legend I have proof that I have something from your collection. I can be shallow too. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
Oooh, and you gotta edit the title of item 6513677590 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=82490&item=6513677 590&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) I think.

Okay , I'll vote for you , if you'll sign the petition for me.
Stop Ashlee Simpson ! (http://www.stopashlee.com/)
Fair enough ?

I don't get it... why don't those people just ignore her?

02-21-2005, 02:23 PM
We've tried that and she still wont go away.
*Edit*
When Milli Vanilli got caught cheating they had to give their Grammys back and were exiled from the music industry. Ashlee gets caught cheating, and she gets a show on MTV...?

She doesn't have to go away. Just change the channel. Look away. Plug your ears. She will eventually crash and burn or something.
This reminds me of the "Get Howard Stern off the radio" stuff.
I'm not getting the whole vote for me thing. Has the vote page not started yet? Am I doing it wrong?

Ebay doesn't work for me, and the other one (despite being mon 21) doesn't have the nominations up for voting yet.

I say, let her stick around.
Between the SNL debacle, "acid reflux", and the crowd booing her at that football game, she's proven she's good for a few laughs.

Man, local news is the worst, isn't it? They said they'd have the damn thing up on Monday, Feb. 21. Which I'm pretty sure is today, and still nothing. I know today's a holiday and all, but you don't see Movie Poop Shoot slacking off today, do you? Nosiree.

Are you sure they meant February 21, 2005?
It doesn't suprise me (they're a bunch of slackers), though I'll keep trying for you.

I'll vote for you...Even though I think MY engagement story is way better... /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
BTW, my dearest EIC...It's not them, it's you...Here's the right link to vote for Chris...

I don't know Ryall, that school teacher story is awfully cute, but I voted for you anyway. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
You beat me to it- for some reason when I hit the button to post, I got logged out and bumped from the site... I just now was able to get back on. Weird. But the important thing is our support for the man, the legend- Ryall.

I voted for you too Chris.
I was glad to see the page was actually up. After your link wasn't working earlier today, I went back to the main page and clicked on every link I could find for the voting, and they all were linked to the same story you had linked to.

I voted for ya Chris - can't resist Sleepless in Seattle! Good Luck in the comp. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
It still wasn't working by the time I left yesterday so I voted for you today. I hope it still counts.
Well sir, i've done my sacred duty and voted for you in that engagement thing, and also in the survey about whether i agree with Chris Rock that most straight men don't watch award shows.

Vote cast. I suppose it's more romantic this way, but I still think the story was missing something without the tax-write-off comic stops.

But mark wasn't even in the contest.
How are you guys voting multiple times? Doesn't it ask you for your Email address? (i'm guessing you have multiple addresses)

Did you guys read Garth and Lisa's? That sounds to be stolen from Meet The Parents? I liked the other one though. I , of course, voted for you Chris. Not beacuse you asked me too though, but because yours' was the best. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif Good job Man!!

I want to say thanks to you all for the support, but really, your support is just validation that doing this sort of thing is okay. I mean, I really appreciate it and all--only thing worse than entering a goofy contest is losing a goofy contest--but it might be better if you all took me aside and had some sort of intervention. What's next, we entering poetry-writing contests? Selling you Girl Scout cookies? Amway?!? I need to be stopped!
Seriously, I do appreciate it, from alla you, even though mostly I'm cringing that I even spread word of this at all. But hopefully a free massage will work out all the kinks AND the shame...

That's such a sweet story. I did vote for ya and hope that it works out in time for the whole anniversary thing. All I'll say is that I thank God that the wife doesn't read the MPS board or I would be in deep doggie doo since I popped the question in an airport parking lot. I'm not so good in the whole planning/romantic part. My poor wife. /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif

Don't i know it. Would you for once let me win one of the damn contests on this site? I don't think it's asking too much. I'll invariably get on the honourable mention portion, but never over the crest to the winning side. I'm to the point now where i'm not going to play anymore because i'm sick of the rejection.

I'd lose. I can never get past the 'Roses are red, Violets are blue' part.

Yeah, I voted for the spammer.
I don't understand why you would let another dude propose to your woman. Is that part of the contest, or is this some sick reality show where dudes propose to the chick and the best proposal story gets to marry her?
Oh, who am I kidding. Like spammers ever come back to read responses.
