I know this is a longshot, but does anybody have a contact with the SXSW Film Festival or know anybody who does? If so, please PM me.
Thanks,
Clint

I think you're a little late to get in for this year. The slots are usually all filled by Sept.. But I know some people who... know some people. A longshot to be sure and even if the results are positive, it would still be next year. But I'll do some checking, and get back to you.
Also you might try searching from here. (http://www.austinchronicle.com/issues/dispatch/2002-02-01/cols_pagetwo.html)

Thanks man. We actually submitted back in November and they announced their features on Monday. We never got rejected though. When I called to find out why, I was told that they were still finalizing a few slots this week and if I hadn't received a rejection we may still be in the running for a slot.
If you know anybody who may know anybody, I would really appreciate the call. Even calling or emailing SXSW yourself and telling them that you want to see Swamper can help us in a huge way (512/467-7979 or email film@sxsw.com)
Thanks,
Clint
You might want to enter it in Birmingham, AL Sidewalk Film Festival (http://www.sidewalkfest.com/) . As a local, of course i support it, and i'm a little biased, but it's gotten good reviews from Film Threat and the like.

Im all about Birmingham in September. You think they would be interested in something with our themes?
Sure, they're always looking all kinds of different stuff, as long as it's well made. we've actually got a pretty good little independant film community here.

Okay , so , I talked to my friend who is an events coordinator which is not quite like it sounds , he doesn't vote or decide on the acts, but books their accomodations, venues and such, once they've been confirmed. He works on the musical side of the festival, not to mention hooks me up with free wristbands. I endorsed "Swamper" as if I had seen it and he said he'd "pass it around like a party favor".
Talked to another friend at A.F.S. but that might have done more harm than good as we used to date, and she was in "one of her moods". Not the good one, unfortunately. *shrugs* They're really busy this time of year.
I've done what little I can , hope it helps.
The current line-up (http://2005.sxsw.com/film/screenings/date/2005-03-11.html?PHPSESSID=5a7c3daa0a8e101beebbc8e1df621606 ) looks a bit thin , or the site hasn't been updated in a while ? I'm looking forward to "My big fat Independant movie. " "cl.one" and "Operation: Dreamland" And of course your movie, if you make it. I'm hoping you get the Alamo Drafthouse on S. Lamar which is, literally right across the street , not two minutes walk from apt..
Good luck.

Thanks a ton! I really appreciate it! You have no idea how much.
Unfortunately, they announced their final features lineup on 2/14 and we weren't on the list. When I called to find out why they waited until after the deadline to get rejected, she said that we were in the running for a final slot but couldn't go into specifics about the movie until after 3/20. Of course its weird to have to wait that long for feedback but I assume they are all just slammed until after the fest.
We will definitely be targeting AFF. I really want to get back to Austin for a screening because I love the city. If we don't get into AFF, we will try to have a public screening at the Alamo Drafthouse. I will of course make sure you are on the guestlist.

Sorry to hear you didn't make it man, I would've attended the screening. Keep me posted on AFF, we'll go grab a couple beers after.
Also to everyone, there are some pretty cool trailers up on the above link, but you have to change days to see them all.
