So, I am spending my monday morning the way I usually do, sleep in check my E-mail and then the Shoot. I figured I would lurk around the board as I am want to do as of late (just haven't had much to say, not a lack of love for you all)
THEN out of the blue comes a story on the Shoot that makes me choke on my coffee. (here comes the petty bitching, don't say you weren't warned) So I am reading the story about the Fellowship musical thinking that is odd, and there in the first damned line Mr. Teofilo mentions that evil place The El Portal Theater! Dammit, can't I just move on with my life without you people throwing the darkest period of my life at me!
As for backstory, I used to manage the box office at said shithole. I love the art of the Theater, so when they started to have trouble and could not pay the employees, I did not run for the hills, NO I worked with out pay for those evil [censored] for Six Months with out pay, wiping out my savings. I left and called it a wash. I thought no evil Karma as on the day I quit I was offered another job at another theater, groovy life goes on. Flash forward to tax time. Those dirty whores to keep the employees from attempting to get back pay though litigation reported to the IRS that all back pay had been given, and then they filed for bankrupt statis. I found this out about a year ago. As I did not claim said monitary gains on my taxes, I have hefty penalties on said amount. I will be paying off this underhandedness for quite a while now. And I can't get any help from my former masters, for they have sealed all the documents and, OOPS! We can't find them. So with the IRS the burden of proof is on me. end rant.

The only point there, is the same people still are in charge of that theater. They get to have a show that gets written up wonderfull pop culture sites like this one. (and hell, the show sounded fun) Whilst, I alas, have to keep my crappy bakers job, because of the pay, and had to sell my car, and......oh, to hell with it you get the point.
Thank you for letting me rant, now if all of you who still live in California would please wish that building hate and spite it would warm my heart, and when you send them hate mail....Tell them J.J. sent ya /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

I can walk there from my apartment and used to work a few doors down from it. I shall flip off the building and throw curses upon it everytime I drive by it from now on.

I investigated that, but under the chapter whatever they filed, the creditors (me in this case) had to get in on the original case. I had no idea what was going on at the time as I had to leave California to be with my girlfriend so she could be with her mother as she died. My attentions were away from them, and I got butt-raped.

I wouldn't exactly call your beef "petty". "Worthy of litigation" pops to mind. Bankruptcy is the biggest crock of steaming dump in the world, and Florida has become the Port-A-Potty in which the dumps take place.
We had a customer who had been placed on COD because they were so far behind. We sold to them on this basis for a year or so and then they went bankrupt. Well, at least we got paid for the products we delivered to them, right? Wrong, once the scum-sucking, ass-raping attorneys (no offense Jason Brown) got involved, we had to pay three (or six...I can't remember) months of invoices (approx. $7,000) back according to Florida law.
At least we didn't get in hock with the IRS. There is a special circle in hell for the people who [censored] you.

Nothing petty about having to sell your wheels. That truly sucks.

There are certain times when I appreciate my luck in dealing with certain places of business. This is one of them.

My mom worked for a now-defunct trucking company. She had a situation similar to yours. They claimed they paid the taxes and Social Security for all of them, but instead they were routing this money back into their own pockets and using it to pad their growing private accts. When the creditors came to bolt the doors the employees had no clue. Plus, their last two paychecks bounced and the IRS made them pay all the taxes they supposedly paid already.

What happened to the owners. Nothing so far. They filed bankrupcy with very good lawyers that turned normal people like my mom into a "creditor" to compete with everybody else.

I never realized the legal loopholes in this type of stuff until that time. It is sad...and for you to have to see your car...that is awful. I will send them mental whammys every day for a week. Mark my words!

When I saw the subject line of this thread, before even reading the actual post, I thought of doing this.

Please tell me this customer was a Payless Cashways company? I worked for one of them, and we had to pay by COD with a lot of companies for a long time. And, they had to give all of it back. Not only did vendors get [censored], but so did the employees. I was owed something like $4000 by my calculations. By their calculations I was owed $800. I would have been mildly happy with that. I got a check for $250. Bastards!
