This may be a naive question but here goes; What the hell was up with the frogs? Was there some allegorical meaning that I missed or what? Any theories or answers would be groovy.

Refer to The Bible; The Plague of Frogs; Exodus 8:1-15
In synopsis, the plagues in the Bible are meant to show that we are responsible for the choices we make. Negative events (plagues) may occur through divine intervention and they may turn out good, but not without our own accountability.
This explains the choice, redemption, and coincidence theme running through Magnolia. Every human being is fractured, but capable of making choices and overriding fate. In spite of otherworldly experiences (plagues), each character has the opportunity to make peace with their people and their divinity. It's all about choice.
Of course, there may be another historical reason for a rain of frogs, but this is the only one I can think of. (and I am starting to sound like the local Bible thumper /forums/images/icons/wink.gif )

You are correct about the Exodus reference... it was intentionally similar. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

It was definitely a bible referance because almost all of the people in the movie were assholes and were getting punished by Bog.
