View Full Version : I just had the best piece of pizza of my life.

That's saying something coming from a New Yorker. Get this [censored], thin crust(the only way to go, fold it baby!), strip sausage, onions and fungi with light sauce and extra cheese. My girlfriend foolishly left it here when she split, so I did my duty and protected it for her and the [censored] was great. If you were looking for a point look no further.

Was it from a coal oven? I think there's only 3 operating coal ovens that are still permitted to run in NYC, and the pizza they produce is the best. I think the stoves run like 600 degrees hotter than any other stove, which is why they taste inexplicably better. You gotta try it at least once in a lifetime.

Brick oven pizza... yum. We have one near my house (in Hackensack). It is amazing!

New York is the best place to get pizza, no doubt. I've long said that one should never bother getting pizza anywhere that does not sell it by the slice.

One of the few exceptions was a place near Philly. They make a Philly cheese steak pizza. They get the crust started, fry up some onions, sprinkle the fried onions, cheese steak meat, and two or three kinds of cheese, then continue baking. Ohhhhh man is it good.

The fun thing about food is its regionality. New Yorker's say their Pizza is the best, Chicagoians will argue Deep Dish Bitch! California's will put sprouts or some pesto or crap on theirs, and claim it's the best. Where you grow up, really effects how you like things and i think that is really neat. Even the Simple hot dog is different from region to region. In Georgia, it's the chili dog: Wiener, bun, onions and meaty chili, In Alabama the dogs come with Kraut, mustard, a spicy sauce and onions, In new york it's all about the Dog, the crack of the casing in the mouth. And agian with Chicago and putting the entire fridge on the dog. I'm sure there are many ways to do the dog too. And lets not even get into BarbeQue....

I totally agree, for some reason you Americans seem to love corn dogs. I personally think that this snack is rank, it has no redeeeming features whatsoever. Corn dogs are not eaten in the UK by anyone, neither are chilli dogs or Philli Cheese Steak which i find to be very deceiving as it looks nothing like steak at all, it's just mince. And as much as I loved them, do Buffalo's have wings???????

Sad, yet true. But hey, not all Californians are like that! I love meat. I love things that I am certain will kill me. No tofu on my pizza, thank you very much. Meatlovers all the way!

Southern California has the best Mexican food in the United States. Hands down. We also have In-n-Outs. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

Ilove Tostino's Mexican pizzas. They're easy to cut and covered with cheese and sliced peppers.

Yeah, well the west coast doesn't have White Castle, so there! I know many may make fun of it, but try moving out of the range of one. The withdrawal is unbearable. I could go for a few sliders and chicken rings right now, actually, but the closest one is about 100 miles away.

The Southeast doesn't have White Castles either, We have Krystals which are close, shaped the same, but no holes in the meat, but not as good.

[/ QUOTE ] I lived in No. California for a year, and ate at the In-n-Out many times. Hate to say it, but they are no match for the midwest/southeastern Steak n Shake.

I am not debating which is better, Chicago or New York pizza...but if you ever make it to the Windy City, there are some must trys:
* Lou Malnati's for Deep Dish Pizza
* Portillo's for a dipped Italian Beef, or Al's #1 Italian Beef
* Jim's Original for a Maxwell Street Polish Sausage
* And please, in the name of all that is good and decent, if you are going to have a dog of any variety it HAS to be Vienna Beef (preferably at a Cubs game with a beer)!

Your post makes me miss Indiana. It seems odd to miss Indiana, but most of the food is way better than Colorado. All we have here are chains. Mmm...White Castles and Chicago dogs. That is what the midwest is all about.

If I could, I would freeze-dry the above list and send it to you. There is a reason why Chicago is the most obese city in the nation. Damn do we have it good.

That sounds like the best [censored] pizza in the world. God if only Massachusetts had something good other than cod.

Yeah - I guess I could put out a little effort to make this plan work. The problem is it may taste a little wierd by the time it got to you. Maybe your Uncle Jim could give me some freeze-drying pointers.

Psychofiend is really getting wacky with those avatars. I still haven't put my first one up yet, and he is on his 80th.

She-ra! I was wondering who that was,I recognized her but couldn't place her. For about 5 minutes i thought it was Areal from Thundar the Barbarian, but i new that was wrong. Also enjoying how this thread has changed from one person venting about his best pizza to hotdogs to freezedried food to avatars. where will it take us next, if only i could see into the future....

Papa John's, extra large Hot Pepper Passion, cheese sticks, 2 honey & mustard, and 2 BBQ dips. Plus a few jalepeno peppers on the side.

Best. Pizza. EVER.

They have no branches where I've moved. I do miss it. I've been bribed with promises of that pizza. That's how delicious that meal is to me.

And now I'm hungry...

Papa John's is good "cardboard pizza" as we call it around here. Pizza Hut, Dominos, and Papa are all that... cardboard pizzas. If you want real pizza, you go to a pizza place that makes its dough the old fashioned way and cooks their pizza in a real pizza oven.

If you order a pizza with no toppings, does that make it topless?

ratm1966
10-19-2008, 05:08 PM
Sure.

I just wish she would be topless.

Okay, I admit it, I wish she was completely naked.

I think I will be posting more now, just so she will be all over the boards.
