Song for the day "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas"
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
Don't want a doll, no dinky Tinker Toy
I want a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
I don't think Santa Claus will mind, do you?
He won't have to use our dirty chimney flue
Just bring him through the front door,
that's the easy thing to do
I can see me now on Christmas morning,
creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise
when I open up my eyes
to see a hippo hero standing there
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles, no rhinoceroses
I only like hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me too
Mom says the hippo would eat me up, but then
Teacher says a hippo is a vegeterian
There's lots of room for him in our two-car garage
I'd feed him there and wash him there and give him his massage
I can see me now on Christmas morning,
creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise
when I open up my eyes
to see a hippo hero standing there
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles or rhinoceroseses
I only like hippopotamuseses
And hippopotamuses like me too!

Quite often I get a thinking
How as kids we got by
Like christmas time in our house
We couldn't even afford a fire
But we made do in our house
Back then when I was young
Dad used to suck a peppermint
And we'd all sit round his tongue
We couldn't afford no tinsel
On our christmas tree
So we'd just wheel old grandad in
And make the old c*nt sneeze...atchoo
Wheel him round the other side granny...atchoo
Well things change so bloody fast
I got children now of me own
Now I heard 'em unwrap their presents
Last night when I got home
Santa claus you c*nt
Where's my f*cking bike
I've unwrapped all this other junk
There's nothing what i like
I've wrote you a letter
And i've come to see you twice
You geriatric wanker
Where's my f*cking bike
If i wanted a pair of f*cking shoes
I would've f*cking asked
This cowboy suit and ping-pong set
You can stick right up your arse
You went and mucked my order up
It's enough to make you spew
It's not just me that's pissed off
My sister's cheesed off too
and she said
Santa claus you c*nt
Where's my f*cking pram
You promised me you f*cking c*nt
You know who I am
'Cos I'm the little girl
You made sit right on your hand
Never mind your ho ho ho
Where's my f*cking pram
Next time i go to see him
I'm gonna punch him in the guts
Set his f*cking reindeer loose
Kick rudolf in the nuts
Just you wait til next year
'Til we get to that store
A mate of my little sister
'll come stomping through that door
Hey mums and dads just check his breath
And watch his bloodshot eyes
Don't listen to him boys and girls
'Cos he tells f*cking lies
He's a pisstake and a pervert
He's not even f*cking bright
'Cos that f*cking w*nker
Forgot my f*cking bike

Sorry it's late, but here's a Christmas song for the holidays. Everyone can sing-a-long. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
A month or 2 ago
You asked me for a date
I said on Christmas eve
By then you'd lose some weight
I think I understand
The tinsel in your hair
But why have you got mistle toe
Inside your underwear
Oh, Jingle Balls, Jingle Balls
Jingle to and fro
*notices that no one's singing along*
Um, why is everyone looking at me? Doesn't everyone listen to Dr. Dirty's Christmas Carols?
Guess not.
Nevermind then, carry on with your BORING and traditional ways.
*walks away mumbling to self* ...always get do what yooou want to do

I would say it's one of the weaker songs from the soundtrack. Not that it's bad, just because of what it's up against. You've got The Shins, Coldplay, Nick Drake, Colin ( that fuggin song makes me cry.) Hay, I even like the Remy Zero song better.

Is 'Such Great Heights' also on the soundtrack?
I've heard this song before by the Postal Service. I'm not sure who was doing it in the movie. They only played for a few seconds, it seems. Such a pretty song though.

Ok folks.
We've done a lot of songs so far. How many of you have actually tracked down and been listening to our songs? I have tryed to make it easy for you. I hope you all know how much fun this can be. If it is done right then one of these songs will change your day. Trust me, my brothers and I have been e-mailing each other songs for years now. Every once and a while one of the songs will put me in a great mood. I hope you've been playing along. This could be a lot of fun if you do it right. If nothing else you'll learn a lot about the people your posting with.

I 'dib' the next open slot with this song:
Modest Mouse - So much beauty in dirt
Lyrics (the best part):
Out of breath and out of cash, find yourself watching M.A.S.H., every night
on the couch. Woman says let's take a drive down south, roll down the
windows and open our mouths taste where we are and play the music loud. Stop
the car, lay on the grass, the planets spin and we watch space pass.Walk a
direction, see where we get. I never knew nothin' so there's nothin' to
forget. Get real drunk and ride our bikes. There's so much beauty it could
make you cry. The rich get money but never what they want. Find ourselves a
new place to haunt. Climb up the fire escape do it 'til the ground looks far
away. Go night swimming, leave our clothes on the ground, when we get busted
we just stand there proud. It's the truth we all been wrong make it up and
let's move on. Playing cards we all get to act sly there's so much beauty it
could make you cry.

His Cheeseburger - VeggieTales
He said to her, “I’d like a cheese burger...
and I might like a milk shake as well.”
She said to him, “I can’t give you either.” And he said, “Isn’t this Burger Bell?”
She said, “Yes it is, but were closed now.
but we open tomorrow at 10”
He said, “I am extremely hungry,
but I guess I can wait until then.”
‘Cause you're His cheeseburger
His yummy cheeseburger
He’ll wait for you, yeah,
He’ll wait for you,
Oh, you are his cheeseburger
His tasty cheeseburger
He’ll wait for you.
Oh, he will wait for you.
He stayed at the drive-thru till sunrise.
He may have dozed off once or twice.
When he spotted a billboard for Denny’s--
"Bacon and Eggs for half price!"
How could he resist such and offer?
He really needed something to munch.
Cheeseburger please do not get angry.
He’ll eat and be back here for lunch!
‘Cause you're His cheeseburger
His precious cheeseburger
Be back for you.
He’ll be back for you.
Won't be so long cheeseburger!
Oh, lovely cheeseburger!
Be back for you.
Oh, He’ll be back for you.
‘Cause he loves you cheeseburger with all his heart!
And there ain`t nothin` gonna tear you two-oo apart!
And if the world suddenly ran out of cheese,
He would get down on his hands and knees
to see if someone accidentally dropped some cheese in the dirt!
And he would wash it off for you!
Wipe it off for you
Clean that dirty cheese off just for you...
You are His cheeseburger!
This song cracks me up.

My Song of the Day is:
Nearly Lost You by Screaming Trees (from the SINGLES soundtrack).
Did you hear the distant cry
Calling me back to my sin
Like the one you knew before
Calling me back once again
I nearly, I nearly lost you there
And it's taking us somewhere
I nearly lost you there
Let's try to see now
Drag me far enough to know
I'm blind every mile that you burn
There's a rider that's fallen and
It's clear there's no time to return
I nearly, I nearly lost you there
And it's taking us somewhere
I nearly lost you there
Let's try to see now
Did you hear the distant lie
Calling me back to my sin
Like the one you knew before
Calling me back once again
I nearly, I nearly lost you there
And it's taking us somewhere
I nearly lost you there
Well let's try to see now
I nearly lost you there....

<font color="purple">My song of the day is:
El Beso Del Final
Written by Rudy Pérez, Franne Golde, Tom Snow
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No quiero imaginar
No quiero imaginar
Que fue el beso del final
Hoy, insegura estoy
El estar sin ti
Sé que me hará sufrir
Ohhh...
No quiero imaginar
Ahhh...ohhh...
Anoche yo sentí, que me besaste diferente
Y me quedé, sin saber qué hacer (ooh ohh)
Yo te conozco y sé (sé conozco bien)
Que algo no anda bien, ven dime la verdad
No quiero imaginar
Que fue el beso

"Now You're a Man" - D.V.D.A.
Hey!
What makes a man?
Is it the power in his hands?
Is it his quest for glory?
Give it all you got
To fight to the top
So we can know your story
Now you're a man (man)
A man, man, man
Now you're a man (man)
A manny, manny, man
A man, man, man (man)
You are now a man
You're a man
Now you're a man
Live it, live it
What makes a man?
Is it the woman in his arms?
Just 'cause she has big titties
Or is the way
He fights everyday?
No, it's probably the titties
Now you're a man (man)
A man, man, man
Now you're a man-man (man)
Man-man, man, man-man
Now you're a man (man)
M-A-N, man, man
Man-man, man
Now you're man
Well since everyone else has got one for today....
When It's Cold I'd Like To Die - Moby
Where were you when I was lonesome?
Locked away with freezing cold
Someone flying only stolen
I can't tell this light so old
I don't want to swim the ocean
I don't want to fight the tide
I don't want to swim forever
When it's cold I'd like to die
What was that my sweet sweet nothing?
I can't hear you through the fog
If I holler let me go
If I falter let me know
I don't want to swim forever
I don't want to fight the tide
I don't want to swim the ocean
When it's cold I'd like to die
I don't want to swim the ocean
I don't want to fight the tide

There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There's a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you'll never see the end of the road
While you're traveling with me
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win
Now I'm towing my car, there's a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion but there's no proof
In the paper today tales of war and of waste
But you turn it right over to the T.V. page
Now I'm walking again to the beat of a drum
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
Don't ever let them win

Manowar - Kings Of Metal
Manowar Manowar living on the road
When we're in town speakers explode
We don't attract wimps 'cause we're too loud
Just true metal people that's Manowar's crowd
They wanna keep us down
But they can't last
When we get up we're gonna kick your ass
Gonna keep on burnin'
We always will
Other bands play Manowar kill
Other bands play Manowar kill
We like it hard, we like it fast
We got the biggest amps, man they blast
True metal people wanna rock not pose
Wearin' jeans and leather, not cracker jack clothes
They wanna keep us down
But they can't last
When we get up we're gonna kick your ass
Gonna keep on burnin'
We always will
Other bands play Manowar kill
Other bands play Manowar kill
We're the kings of metal comin' to town
When we light up, have the roof nailed down
Don't try to tell us that we're too loud
'Cause there ain't no way that we'll ever turn down
They wanna keep us down
But they can't last
When we get up we're gonna kick your ass

I just don't appreciate drumming that is that fast and seemingly random (the fills and solo). Plus, I can't see the difference between this drummer and Carter Beauford. I like stuff that is phrased, riff'd and technically complex. That's why Matt Cameron, Danny Carey, and Tomas Haake are my favorite drummers.

The best drummer I know is in this band (among others).

I think Dave makes the list more for presence, energy and personality. Though he no longer beats the skins, it's well worth the expense to see the Fighters of the Foo live and in person.
And Animal ? Well he's the most sensational, inspirational, muppetational drummer there ever was.

I'm livin' in a kind of a daydream
I'm happy as a queen
And foolish though it may seem
To me that's everything
The mere idea of you
The longing here for you
You'll never know
How slow the moments go
Till I'm near to you
I see your face in every flower
Your eyes in stars above
It's just the thought of you,
The very thought of you, my love

You're very welcome.
I was listening to this song on my way to work this morning and thought it'd be a good song for the day.
Goldfinger - Superman
(Get up get up get up)
so here i am, doing everything i can
holding on to what i am
pretending i'm a superman
i'm trying to keep, the ground on my feet
seem's the world is falling down around me
the night's are long, i'm singing this song
trying to make the answer's more a maybe
and i'm so confused,i've got a lot to do
sometimes i want to throw it all away
so here i am, growing older all the time,
looking older all the time,
feeling younger in my mind
so here i am, doing everything i can
holding on to what i have
pretending i'm a superman
i'm trying to sleep,
i lost count of sheep,
my mind is racing faster every minute
what could i do more,
yeah, i'm really not sure
i don't wanna run in circles but i can't quit
and i'm so confused
i've got a lot to do
sometimes i want to throw it all away
controlling everything inside
feeling weak i don't feel right
telling me i have to change
telling me to act my age
but if all that i can do
is to sit and watch time go
then i'll have to say goodbye
and i'll be sure to watch time fly, to watch it fly-hy-hy
so here I am,
growing older all the time,
looking older all the time,
feeling younger in my mind
here I am, doing everything I can
holding on to what I am,
pretending i'm a superman

My pic for Song of the Day is "Hold on Me" by Grinspoon (http://www.grinspoon.com.au/) * (yep its an Aussie band). Download and enjoy it today my friends.
*Follow the links to the "Thrills, Kills & Sunday Pills" album to get to the song downloads. Not sure if you can get the full song there but enough to give you a taste.

Whew!
Thats good news
Ok, here's another one I heard on the way to work today and it definately seems to fit today.
Toasters
D.L.T.B.G.Y.D.
Each day I wake up in this gray old town
Each day the system tries to bring me down
With a minimum wage in the factory
I'm slaving in the Twentieth Century
And the whole damn world is gangin up
to bring me to my knees
And now the neighbors make it loud and clear
That they want no ravers moving in around here
I won't play ball, won't do as I'm told
I'd rather be a square peg in a round hole
Don't let the bastards grind you down
Don't let them grind you down
Don't let the bastards grind you down
Don't let them grind you down
I'm living in a world where I don't really fit
Every day walking through the same old shit
I'm gonna get my gun, gonna get prepared
I'm not impressed and I'm not scared
Don't let the bastards grind you down
Don't let them grind you down
Don't let the bastards grind you down
Don't let them grind you down
Me say...
Ah we livin in da ghetto
On da streets of dis town
...you a man
You stand up firm
Gotta stand up strong
Listen ghetto youth
Dis how we keep in da land
Don't let the bastards grind you down
Don't let them grind you down
Don't let the bastards grind you down
Don't let them grind you down
Don't let the bastards grind you down
Don't let them grind you down
Don't let the bastards grind you down
Don't let them grind you down

It's not that it's necessarily bad taste. I just have a thing against designating any song I've heard just about every day of my life as "Song of the Day." I figure this is a message board, and that out of all of the songs floating around the world wide web, you could do better than Rush and Kiss. That's just me. I didn't mean to depress, or offend.
Incidentally, it was a pretty good day for the indie-roc kids. I ended up with six CD's before I left work:
Iron & Wine (http://www.ironandwine.com/)
Mogwai (http://www.mogwai.co.uk/intro.html)
the Libertines (http://www.thelibertines.org.uk/)

When I am thinking of the Song of the Day, I go by how I feel. I mean Its really not all that easy to decide the song. My first deal is that I have to have audio. I want you guys to actually hear the song, not just part of it, the whole song. So that limits me. Next I have to go by my mood as to why type of song I'm listening too. As you can tell depression has eaten me alive for a while so, the songs have been down beat and slow for the most part. Limits, more and more limits. Its really not easy to please.

I know you didn't mean to offend me. The truth is that for the most part it has not been a good year for me so far and I would have snaped at anyone who tempted me. I tend to be a little bit personal. Or I take things more personal than I should. Its one of my man flaws as a human being. So anyway case and point is just to say that I am sorry for being a little bitch. I can't promise you I won't do it again, but then again who really can.

Korn- Word up
Yo, pretty ladies around the world
Gotta a weird thing to show you
So tell all the boys and girls
Tell your brother, your sister and your momma too
We're about to go down
And you know just what to do
Wave your hands in the air like you don't care
Glide by the people as they start to look and stare
Do your dance, Do your dance
Do your dance quick, mom
[Chorus:]
Now c'mon baby tell me what's the word
Now, word up
(ahh ahh)
Everybody say
When you hear the call you got to get it under way
Word up
(ahh ahh)
It's the call, word
No matter where you say it
You know that you'll be heard
Now while you suck DJs
Who think you're blind
There's got to be a reason
And we know the reason why
You try to put on those airs
And act real cool
But you got to realize
That you're acting like fools
If there's music, we can use it
Be free to dance
We don't have the time for psychological romance
No romance, no romance
No romance for me, mom
[Chorus:]
C'mon baby tell me what's the word
Now, word up
(ahh ahh)
Everybody say
When you hear the call you got to get it under way
Word up
(ahh ahh)
It's the call, word
No matter where you say it
You know that you'll be heard
(woo!)
[Bridge:]
Word up
(ahh ahh)
Everybody say
When you hear the call you got to get it under way
Word up
(ahh ahh)
It's the call, word
No matter where you say it
You know that you'll be heard
Word up
(ahh ahh)
Everybody say
When you hear the call you got to get it under way
Word up
(ahh ahh)
It's the call, word
No matter where you say it
You know that you'll be heard

Oh, Here you go TLS.
Do you have the time
to listen to me whine
About NOTHING and EVERYTHING
all at once
I am one of those
Melodramatic fools
Neurotic to the bone
No doubt about it
Sometimes I give myself the CREEPS
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm CRACKING UP
Am I just PARANOID?
Or am I just STONED
I went to a shrink
To analyze my dreams
SHE says it's lack of sex
that's bringing me down
I went to a whore
HE said my life's a bore
So quit my whining cause
it's bringing HER down
Sometimes I give myself the CREEPS
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm CRACKING UP
Am I just PARANOID?
Uh,yuh,yuh,ya
Grasping to CONTROL
So I BETTER hold on
Sometimes I give myself the CREEPS
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm CRACKING UP
Am I just PARANOID?

"Wishlist"
I wish I was a neutron bomb, for once I could go off.
I wish I was a sacrifice but somehow still lived on.
I wish I was a sentimental ornamnet you hung on
The christmas tree, I wish I was the star that went on top,
I wish I was the evidence
I wish I was the grounds for fifty million hands up raised and opened toward the sky.
I wish I was a sailor with someone who waited for me.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.
I wish I was a messenger, and all the news is good.
I wish I was the full moon shining off your camaro's hood.
I wish I was an alien, at home behind the sun,
I wish I was the souvenir you kept your house key on.
I wish I was the pedal break that you depended on.
I wish I was the verb to trust, and never let you down.
I wish I was the radio song, the one that you turned up,
I wish, I wish, I wish, I wish,
I guess it never stops.

Ok,
It there on the 311 radio enjoy
311- Beautiful Disaster (http://www.311.com/)
Here you go Sweetheart!!
Today seems like a good day to burn a bridge or two
The one with old wood creaking that would burn away right on cue
I try to be not like that but some people really suck
Some people need to get the axing chalk it up to bad luck
I know a drugstore cowgirl so afraid of getting bored
She's always running from something so many things ignored
I might do that stuff if it didn't make me feel like shit
I'm on some old reality tip so many trips in it
Beautiful disaster
Flyin' down the street again
I tried to keep up
You wore me out and left me ate up
Now I wish you all the luck
You're a butterfly in the wind without a care
A pretty train crash to me and I can't care
I do I don't whatever
I know a drugstore cowgirl so afraid of getting bored
She's always running from something so many things ignored
I try to be not like this but I thought it'd make a good song
There's nothing to see shows over people just move along
Beautiful disaster
Flyin' down the street again
I tried to keep up
You wore me out and left me ate up
Now I wish you all the luck
You're a butterfly in the wind without a care
A pretty train crash to me and I can't care
I do I don't whatever

I miss them ..! Who? You may ask.
Why, it's...Soundgarden- Fell on Black Days (http://radio.terra.com.br/includes/internas_albuns/1/1107.html)
Whatsoever I've feared has
Come to life
Whatsoever I've fought off
Became my life
Just when everyday
Seemed to greet
Me with a smile
Sunspots have faded
And now I'm doing time
Cause I fell on
Black days
Whomsoever I've cured
I've sickened now
Whomsoever I've cradled
I've put you down
I'm a search light soul
They say but I can't
See it in the night
I'm only faking
When I get it right
Cause I fell on
Black days
How would I know
That this could be my fate
So what you wanted to
See good has made you blind
And what you wanted to
Be yours has made it
Mine
So don't you lock up
Something that you
Wanted to see fly
Hands are for shaking
No not tying
I sure don't
Mind a change
But I fell on
black Days
How would I know
That this could be
My fate
i miss 'em too. Great pick.

Seal- Don't Cry (http://radio.terra.com.br/includes/internas_albuns/0/737.html)
Don't be so hard on yourself.
Those tears are for someone else.
I hear your voice on the phone.
I hear you feel so alone.
My baby.
Ohh my baby.
Please my baby,
My baby,
When we were young,
And truth was paramount.
We were older then,
And we lived our life without any doubt.
Those memories,
They seem so long ago.
What's become of them? When you feel like me I want you to know.
Don't cry.
You're not alone.
Don't cry,
Tonight, my baby.
Don't cry,
You'll always be loved.
Don't cry,
Tonight.
My baby.
Today I dreamed,
Of friends I had before.
And I wonder why.
The ones who care don't call anymore.
My feelings hurt.
But you know I overcome the pain.
And I'm stronger now,
There can't be a fire unless there's a flame.
Don't cry.
You're not alone.
Don't cry,
Tonight, my baby.
Don't cry.
You'll always be loved.
Don't cry oh...
Limousines and sycophants,
Don't leave me now,
Cause I'm afraid what you've done to me.
Is now the wolf.
In my bed,
In my head.
In my head.
In my head.
The challenges, we took were hard enough.
They get harder now.
Even when we think that we've had enough.
Don't feel alone,
Cause it's I you understand.
I'm your sedative,
Take a piece of me whenever you can.
Don't cry.... you're not alone.
...don't be so hard on yourself...( Being said on top of the verse)
Don't cry.... tonight my baby
...Those tears are for.....someone else...
Don't cry.... you'll always be loved
...I hear your voice on the phone...
Don't cry.... tonight sweet baby
...I hear you feel... so alone.
Don't cry... don't cry... don't cry... don't you cry...
Cry... Don't cry...
Cause you still be loved
Don't cry
Don't cry tonight
Ohh..
My baby my baby my baby my baby my baby my baby my baby
my baby my baby my my baby my baby my baby my baby mymy baby my
baby my baby
My baby....
Don't cry tonight
You'll still be loved

One of my two claims to fame is knowing every member of this band. I tell them all the time that this is one of the best songs they've done.
3 Doors Down- The road I'm on (http://radio.terra.com.br/includes/internas_albuns/4/4093.html)
She said life's a lot to think about sometimes
When you're living in between the lines
And all the stars are sparkling, shine everyday
He said life's so hard to move in sometimes
When it feels like I'm in the line
And no one even cares to ask me why I feel this way
And I know you feel helpless now, and I know you feel, hold on
That's the same road, the same road that I'm on, yeah
He said life's a lot to think about sometimes
When you keep it on between the lines
And everything I want and I want to find one of these days
But what you thought was real in life
Oh, it somehow steer you wrong
And now you just keep trying and trying to find out where you belong
And I know you feel helpless now, and I know you feel, hold on
That's the same road, the same road that I'm on
What you thought was real in life, somehow steer you wrong
And now you just keep trying and trying to find where you belong
I know you feel helpless now, I know you feel, hold on
That's the same, the same road that I'm on

This is another band I know and I don't think its "famous" yet.
Ben, John, K girl, and Lori are old friends and I hope you all enjoy their stuff. they are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, and I couldn't be happier that they have had so much happen for them. Its very rare that a Christen Rock Band gets this large of a fan base. So give them a listen and if you like what you hear, pick up their CD Collide in stores now!!!
Skillet- Savior (http://www.skillet.org/media/video/index.html)
I’m everything you’ve wanted
I am the one who’s haunting you
I am the eyes inside of you
Stare back at you
There’s nothing left to lose
There’s nothing left to prove
Surrender your love
It’s all you can do, yeah
What you got
What you want
What you need
Gonna be your savior
Everything’s gonna crash and break
But I know, yeah, I know
What you got
What you want
What you need
Gonna be your savior
Everything’s gonna crash and break
Your savior
It’s time to redefine
Your deophobic mind
Don’t hesitate, no escape
From secrets on the inside
There’s nothing left to lose
There’s nothing left to prove
Surrender your love
It’s all you can do, yeah
What you got
What you want
What you need
Gonna be your savior
Everything’s gonna crash and break
But I know, yeah, I know
What you got
What you want
What you need
Gonna be your savior
Everything’s gonna crash and break

I am the eyes inside
Staring back at you (2x)
You need, you need me, yeah
What you want
What you need
Everything’s gonna crash and break

What you need
Everything’s gonna crash and break

Gonna be your savior
Everything’s gonna crash and break
But I know, yeah, I know
What you got

Nickelback- Because of you:
Can't make this all go away
Now that you're bleeding you stare at the ceiling
Watch as it all fades away
From what you do, because of you
You know I can't be there
Each time that you call
I swore not to come, but I m here after all
I know by the look that I see in your eye
I won't stand around and I won't watch you die
From what you do, because of you
What you do, what you do
What's become of you?
What you do, what you do
What's become of...?
Now that you did this, you ask for forgiveness
Doctor could you be my priest
You say you're mistaken, but look what you've taken
You laugh as you lie through your teeth
From what you do, Because of you
You know I can't be there
Each time that you call
I swore not to come, but I m here after all
I know by the look that I see in your eye
I won't stand around and I won't watch you die
From what you do, because of you
What you do, what you do
What's become of you?
What you do, what you do
What's become of...?
From what you do...
Hands on the mirror, can't get much clearer
Can't make this all go away
Now that you're bleeding you stare at the ceiling
And watch as it all fades away
From what you do, Because of you
You know I can't be there
Each time that you call
I swore not to come, but I m here after all
I know by the look that I see in your eye
I won't stand around and I won't watch you die
From what you do, because of you

Hmm, I missed the fight yesterday, but I thought I would try to give you a day off today. Couldn't find audio, but found a page of video. There are five videos, but I am suggesting King's X - Black Flag (http://music.uk.launch.yahoo.com/ar-254615-videos--King%27s-X)
For those who want lyrics:
A year in the hole,
had taken its toll,
When I took a good look at me.
And what a surprise,
the scope of my eyes, could only see black.
And I remember someone who was taking
them two by two and lately I'd become the
one who'd have laughed at you too!
There was a Black Flag on my morning
There was a Black Flag on my day
There was a Black Flag on everything around and I was
walking backwards again
I walked in the day, my usual way,
looking through a 2 X 4
It colored my view,
I couldn't see you
Or maybe I just wouldn't
And I remember the time when the sunlight fell on my head And lately I'd become a member of the walking dead
There was a Black Flag on my morning
There was a Black Flag on my day
There was a Black Flag on everything around and I was walking backwards again
And I know that I was wrong.
It was up to me if I wanted to see
And I remember the day when I saw the mask on my face
And I knew that it was time to put the thing in its place
I'd put the Black Flag on my morning
I'd put the Black Flag on my day
I'd put the Black Flag on everything around And I
was walking backwards again
And I know that I was wrong

This album used to kill me in high school. Wounded romantic bliss, with wicked Eric Clapton solos to boot. Roger Waters's "The Pros and Cons of Hitch-hiking." I dug it out today, and still found it very affecting. Sorry I don't have clips, but check out these final lyrics (which provide great relief after a particulary dark concept album).
5.11 am (The Moment of Clarity)
And I put out my hand just to touch your soft hair
To make sure in the darkness that you were still there
And I have to admit, I was just a little afraid.
But then...
I had a little bit of luck
You were awake
I couldn't take another moment alone.

Can't find a free download of it but TRIK TURNERS' " Not like you"
You look straight thru me, I see no reflection
You cut deep inside of me, I stitch my own infection
Grey is the sunshine that burns my skin
Grey is your touch I think your empty within
Fingernails cracked dried blood flows slow in this world
Its time to walk away
Hey old friend its been a long time
I've been better, but thank you
Tomorrows yesterday fades fast and then gives way,
I've been better, but thank you
Look in thru windows, trying to see you
Haven't slept in two days, I wanna be you
Looking at pictures, I see you smiling
You look so happy when I feel like dying
I read your diary your secrets now dead
I cut your name deep the ink is so red
A black Sunday sun as I clutch a cross until I die,
Our love is never lost
Hey old friend its been a long time
I've been better, but thank you
Tomorrows yesterday fades faster then gives way,
I've been better, but thank you
I know that I'm not like you
(cuz I'm not like you )
I'm not like you
Todays song, from the Album "Songs in the Key of X" the Foo Fighters version of Down in the Park
the lyrics since i can't find a music version.
Down in the park where the machmen meet the machines and play kill-by-numbers
Down in the park with a friend called Five
I was in a car crash or was it the war, but I've never been quite the same
Little white lies like 'I was there'
Come to Tom-Tom's, a place to eat, like it was built in one day
You can watch the humans trying to run
Oh, look, there's a rape machine, I'd go outside if he'd look the other way
You wouldn't believe the things they do
Down in the park where the chant is 'Death, death, death' till the sun cries morning
Down in the park with friends of mine
We are not lovers
We are not romantics
We are here to serve you
A different face, but the words never change

I hated eMOTIVE. Not because it ragged on the war and on Bush. But because it sucked really really bad. This is the only good song on there.
Lyrics:
Dead as dead can be
The doctor tells me
But I just can't believe him
Ever the optimistic one
I'm sure of your ability
To become my perfect enemy
Wake up, and face me
Don't play dead, cause maybe
Someday I'll walk away and say
You dissapoint me
Maybe you're better off this way
Leaning over you here
Cold and catatonic
I catch a brief reflection
Of what you could and might have been
It's your right and your ability
To become my perfect enemy
Wake up(why can't you)
And face me (come on now)
Don't play dead(don't play dead)
Cause maybe(cause maybe)
Someday(someday)
I'll walk away and say
You dissapoint me
Maybe you're better off this way(x4)
You're better off this(x2)
Maybe you're better off
Wake up(why can't you)
And face me (come on now)
Don't play dead(don't play dead)
Cause maybe(cause maybe)
Someday(someday)
I'll walk away and say
You [censored] dissapoint me
Maybe you're better off this way
Go ahead and play dead(GO!)

How about "Song of the Night" ? Okay so I can't sleep , and in the closet packed under boxes of shit I haven't seen in years I found a large ol' case full of cassette tapes . Remember cassette tapes ? Rewinding sucks 'specially when there's really only one song on the whole damn tape you wanna listen to anyway.
I don't know what's more embarassing: that I used to listen to GWAR, or the demo tape I found from the 2nd band I was in ? I wish I had a way to upload that demo. Oh trust me, it'd be good for laugh.
Anyway, I feel this song, for it's power ballad style and it's chorus at least, is testament to how long this thread has lasted. Without further digression I give you ...
GWAR "The Road Behind"
Well I'm travellin' down the road
and I'm carryin' that heavy load
Stagger round in a stupor
Sleazy , I can't do the show
I'm hanging out backstage
I'm in a homocidal rage
I signed a million dollar contract
I puked on every page
Slaughtered half the crew
Cause they ate my deli-tray
Oh Baby hey
I said I'd do the show but I canceled anyway
You were a road kill baby till I scraped you in my arms
Just another wattle flapping
On the old turkey farm
So baby....
Aw the wheels keep rolling
And another milepost gone
All along the road behind
Oh can't you hear me calling
Like the sad whale song
I'm on that road behind
Well there you have it baby
I'm just a sensitive guy
Y'know I snuffed a million planets
But I still find time to cry
Because there's more to life
Then making other people die
Like a little bloody tear baby
Running out my dirty little eye
And some things baby they don't make no sense
Does it really matter if it bugs your parents?
you were road kill baby till I scraped you in my arms
just another wattle flapping
On the old turkey farm, So baby..
baby quit yer crying
Put the clown britches on ...
Aw the wheels keep rolling
And another milepost gone
All along the road behind
Ahh can't you hear me calling
Like the sad whale song
I'm on the road behind
Like a sad whale song...
...sad whale baby.

[/ QUOTE ] A little history here. Did you know that song is actually a refreshed version of the song Vacant that came from the Tapeworm sessions that Maynard had with Trent Reznor? I didn't realize it until I went back and listened to Vacant again.
The chorus used to be:
Wake up, and face me
Don't play dead, cause maybe
Someday I'll walk away and say
You're vacant and
Maybe you're better off this way
I've actually grown to like Emotive quite a bit more than I did when I first got it. I was so, so disappointed at first. Maybe I was better off that way.

I am such a Maynard fan its not even funny but I was still so pissed about eMOTIVE. Really, there are parts of Thirteenth step that piss me off too. I just expect so much from Maynard its wrong of me to do so but I do. Its more than likely me, but I hope he does not screw up the next TOOL album as bad a as eMOTIVE. We'll see.
karmattack
04-06-2005, 05:14 PM
Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with his singing on eMOTIVe. My problems are purely musical. Well, actually I'm not crazy about the lyric changes in People Are People, so I guess that counts against him. I think his vocals do the music justice though...but it all came together to make something not so good. I love Let's Have a War....not as much as the original, but I dig it.
What don't you like from 13th Step?
From what little word there is about the new Tool album, it sounds like it's going to be a killer.
BAMSS04
04-06-2005, 05:53 PM
Well, The music is what bothers me. One of the reasons that I like Maynard is he can make a slow song sound fast and hard. His lyrics capture you , like I said it might be me but when it comes to eMOTIVE I was disappointed. It also might be because of the content. I guess it is hard to get into a CD that is filled with lyrics and ideas you don't agree with but that wasn't it entirely. I guess it was there is usually a ratio of hard rock and soft rock songs and in eMOTIVE there is no ratio, its 99% soft rock. That bothered me too.
As far as Thirteenth step here are the songs I DID like.
I think I got the track numbers right!!
1:Package
2:Weak and Powerless
7:Outsider
10:Pet
9:Nurse who loved me
3:Noose was awesome!!
4:Blue
Stranger was ok
I guess again it was the ratio of hard rock to soft rock , or I should say the lack there of, that bothered me more than anything.

Not sure if anybody else has heard about this, but Kabir, the guy that runs toolshed.down.net, does a Tool related April Fools day prank every year. Here's what he posted this year:
"hi, kabir. i thought it only fair to inform you first, before you hear it second or third hand. some recent events have led me to the rediscovery of jesus. tool will need to take the back seat. this may come as a shock. i just thought you should know considering all the support you given us over the years.

Surprisingly, especially considering that it is not one of his better efforts, people thought it was real. Apparently MTV had a story about it, as did the local radio station in Colorado Springs. Gullible bastards.

I hope that's as hilarious to the rest of the people who occasionally check T.D.N. because it was to me. Kabir updates like twice a year and one of them is on April 1st. Although it must be pointed out that Maynard himself helped in MTV falling for the joke because he basically confirmed it to Kurt Loder.
I have to say the bestest thing about it was the fact that it made KoRn"Head" look like a jackass.

I'm with ratm.... Johnny Cash. I may be young, but I do enjoy some Johnny Cash. Especially Ring of Fire. There it is.. The song of the day.
Ring of Fire-Johnny Cash
Social Distortion did a helluva cover of 'Ring of Fire', but you can't beat the original. If me and the fiancee ever pick a date and finally get hitched, we're using Ring of Fire as the recessional music. When those trumpets hit, everyone will jump...

They did a pretty good cover of "Ball and Chain" too. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
Mike Ness' solo effort "Cheating at Solitaire" was fantastic. "Long Black Veil" is one of my favorites.

My turn finally, Thelast week was a pretty trying time for me, and I fell into a type of depression and lashed out on everyone I possibly knew, from I Friends to parents to my best friend.
Today I have a new outlook, and I am not letting anyone get me down or get in my way, and I came across this song from over 10 years ago that was my favorite back in the day.
Dream Theater - Pull Me Under
Lost in the sky
Clouds roll by and I roll with them
Arrows fly
Seas increase and then fall again
This world is spinning around me
This world is spinning without me
Every day sends future to past
Every breath leaves one less to my last
Watch the sparrow falling
Gives new meaning to it all
If not today nor yet tomorrow then some other day
I’ll take seven lives for one
And then my only father’s son
As sure as I ever did love him
I am not afraid
This world is spinning around me
The whole world keeps spinning around me
All life is future to past
Every breath leaves me one less to my last
Pull me under pull me under
Pull me under I’m not afraid
All that I feel in honor and spite
All I can do is set it right
Dust fills my eyes
Clouds roll by and I roll with them
Centuries cry
Orders fly and I fall again
This world is spinning inside me
The whole world is spinning inside of me
Every day sends future to past
Every step brings me closer to my last
Pull me under pull me under
Pull me under I’m not afraid
Living my life too much in in the sun
Only until your will is done

Yes, Ring of Fire is one of his great classics.
He had done quite a few covers on his last few albums. 'Hurt' is the one I like the most of the covers, but 'Personal Jesus' (by Depeche Mode) and Bridge Over Troubled Waters (by Simon and Garfunkle) are really good to.

This band is really good, they've got a good tune and awesome lyrics
Reverend Horton Heat- Loco Gringos like to Party
loco gringos like a party with five bails of, hay!
jumpin' in the dumpster with pepe, ole!
loco gringos like a party
and they like their women firm
and when they drink tequila
they fight for the worm
fruit fly showed me
the beginning of life
cuttin' up limes
with a dull butter knife
loco gringos like a party
with five bails of, hay!
jumpin' in the dumpster with pepe, ole!
loco gringos like a party
and they like their women firm
and when they drink tequila
they fight for the worm
go!
the cadillac hearse, tequila bottle fins
at gringo manor, the party really never ends
loco gringos like a party
with five bails of, hay!
jumpin' in the dumpster with pepe, ole!
loco gringos like a party
and they like their women firm
and when they drink tequila
they fight for the worm
(spoken softly) that's the sound of us fighting for the worm
(spoken softly) that's the worm there
(spoken softly) hear the worm
(spoken softly) and see the worm
(spoken softly) hey, that's crazy
alright!
a neon bus painted like the mexican flag
hey there pablo, whatcha got in the bag?
corndogs!
loco gringos like a party
with five bails of, hay!
jumpin' in the dumpster with pepe, ole!
loco gringos like a party
and they like their women firm
and when they drink tequila
they fight for the worm
loco gringos like a party
ole!
loco gringos like a party
ole!
loco gringos like a party
ole!
loco gringos like a party
ole!
yeah!
loco gringos like a party

Manson's Highway to Hell, I Put a Spell on You, You Spin Me Right Round, and Another Brick in the Wall are also really good. I think he also covered Material Girl and Like a Virgin, but they aren't all that great.

Too true. I find it quite pathetic that a band that built up a fanbase by selling bootleg tapes of their performances in the early days would kick up such a fuss about downloading music. Unfortunately though, Lars will never kiss your ass. He is unable, because he is a scrotum with legs, and as such has no lips to speak of.

About, oh, 1\8 of a mile from me there is a baseball stadium. Said park is a pain in the tukus to get past when a game is being played, but the terrain here makes it at least quiet, I don't hear the game much. However on June 1st, Def Adams is playing there. Not only that but kids under 12 get in free with a paid adult ticket. Not only will I have to more than likely get a free show ( I am assuming it will be louder than a baseball game) but the whole damned neighborhood will be overrun by snot machines and the people who spawned them. Ich.

I actually liked Def Lepperd back in their Pyromania days, but even then, I didn't think they were a true metal band. Of course, Metal was applied to a lot of bands in the 80s that really weren't.
Take Bon Jovi for example. Did they ever have a song that could be classified as Metal? They were a friggin' pop band that catered to teenage girls. To put them in the same category as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Anthrax, Megadeth, etc is blasphemy.

Lyrics
sensation washes over me
i can't describe it
pain i felt so long ago
i don't remember
tear a hole so i can see
my devastation
feelings from so long ago
i don't remember
holding on to let them know
what's given to me, given to me
to hide behind my mask this time
and try to believe
blind your eyes to what you see
you can't embrace it
leave it well enough alone
and don't remember
cut your pride and watch it bleed
you can't deny it
pain you know you can't ignore
i don't remember
holding on to let them know
what's given to me, given to me
to hide behind my mask this time
and try to believe
if i can remember
to know this will conquer me
if i can just walk alone
and try to escape into me
sensation washes over me
i can't describe it
pain i felt so long ago
i don't remember
i'm just holding on to let them know
what's given to me, given to me
to hide behind my mask this time
and try to believe
if i can remember
to know this will conquer me
if i can just walk alone
and try to escape into me, into me, into me

I don't think they would have it as the featured song if it was illegally obtained. It's a low fi wav file i'm sure, plus the end is chopped to discourage anyone from using this as a substitute for the actual thing. It's more of a try it before you buy it type gimmick.

Sorry to interrupt a brewing argument, but to get back on topic...
I hear this song every once in a while (it's on a mix cd I have) and it's sounds kinda cool. I don't have a link for it, but it's called 'Save Yourself' by Darkest Days. Here are the lyrics, but to actually enjoy the song I guess you'd have to hear it.
Save Yourself:
i know your life is empty
and you hate to face the world alone
so you're searching for an angel
someone who can make you whole...
i cannot save you i can't even save myself
i know that you've been damned
your soul has suffered much abuse
but i am not your savior
i am just as fucked as you...
i cannot save you i can't even save myself
please don't take pity on me
my life has been a nightmare
my soul is fractured to the bone
so if i must be lonely
i think i'd rather be alone...
you cannot save me you can't even save yourself
i cannot save you i can't even save myself

Theory of a Dead man- No suprise

Lyrics-
Friday is when you left me
So I'll drink myself to sleep
And Sunday is when I'll wake up
Not to remember a thing
My friends all say the same thing
I don't know my new girl too well
(I know)
That all this lying gets to me
And no one seems to give a shit
(The way)
She talks to every guy in the bar
(I guess)
It should've raised some kind of alarm
Who'd ever think I'd go in and doubt?
Like all the other guys that you've gone and fucked
Well it ain't no surprise
That you turn me on and leave
It ain't no surprise
That you turn it around on me
I don't know why
You won't give me what I need
It ain't no surprise
That that bitch is leavin' me
My friends are mean to me
They say I don't break up too well
(They know)
All this crying gets to me
And no one seems to give a shit
Well I know you want to
So go on and say it
Just go on and say it
Just go on and say it
Well it ain't no surprise
That you turn me on and leave
It ain't no surprise
That you turn it around on me
I don't know why
You won't give me what I need
It ain't no surprise
That that bitch is leavin' me
(Leavin' me)
Friday is when you left me
So I drank myself to sleep
And Sunday I never woke up
Well it ain't no surprise
That you turn me on and leave
It ain't no surprise
That you turn it around on me
I don't know why
You won't give me what I need
It ain't no surprise

Do I really have to say who and what this is?
Is this the real life-
Is this just fantasy-
Caught in a landslide-
No escape from reality-
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see-
I’m just a poor boy,i need no sympathy-
Because I’m easy come,easy go,
A little high,little low,
Anyway the wind blows, doesn’t really matter to me,
To me
Mama,just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head,
Pulled my trigger,now he’s dead,
Mama,life had just begun,
But now I’ve gone and thrown it all away-
Mama ooo,
Didn’t mean to make you cry-
If I’m not back again this time tomorrow-
Carry on,carry on,as if nothing really matters-
Too late,my time has come,
Sends shivers down my spine-
Body’s aching all the time,
Goodbye everybody-I’ve got to go-
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth-
Mama ooo- (any way the wind blows)
I don’t want to die,
I sometimes wish I’d never been born at all-
I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the fandango-
Thunderbolt and lightning-very very frightening me-
Galileo,galileo,
Galileo galileo
Galileo figaro-magnifico-
But I’m just a poor boy and nobody loves me-
He’s just a poor boy from a poor family-
Spare him his life from this monstrosity-
Easy come easy go-,will you let me go-
Bismillah! no-,we will not let you go-let him go-
Bismillah! we will not let you go-let him go
Bismillah! we will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go let me go
No,no,no,no,no,no,no-
Mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go-
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me,for me,for me-
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye-
So you think you can love me and leave me to die-
Oh baby-can’t do this to me baby-
Just gotta get out-just gotta get right outta here-
Nothing really matters,
Anyone can see,
Nothing really matters-,nothing really matters to me,
Any way the wind blows....
