You ever have a moment where you are just taken aback out of nowhere.

I did. I was sorta looking through an old friend/now enemy's email account when I found porn photos of him and his girlfriend. SO yeah...taken aback.

Why were you looking through his e-mail account? Sounds illegal.

marksiwel

illegal like downloading music? Or is that just immoral? OR wait...shouldnt that be the same? Or should it!?!

Razorback

So you think that downloading music is the same as hacking someones e-mail account and looking at their private images and thoughts? I guess that's just the way you were raised.

First off, you havent pointed out whats illegal. Just that it may be considered immoral.

ALso there was no hacking, he told me his password, he must have forgot he told me, cause he has never changed it.

Also isnt music someone private thoughts, set to music, and then sold by a heartless business.

Also as for the way you were raised crack, sorry we all cant be perfect like you. I'm sure Smurfy could pledge what an outstanding guy you are...what with your blantent cheating via-text.

Depending on how much you hate his guts, it's a wickedly delightful opportunity for a blackmail. But then, that's just what I would do.

If he gave you his password it propably isn't illegal.

Private thoughts? It is played openly on TV and the radio. It is not private. It is public.

Sadly I have no clue what that means, and I wrote it damn it! lets just chalk it up to sassy robots and move on.

Well, traditionally a person's raging robo-phobia is a cover up for their robotic tendancies.

I want to rub up against a robot and have it call me "big daddy!"

I know I'm going to get stuffed in a locker for this, but I can't resist. Razorback, please explain your views on why file-sharing is not morally suspect.

Reasons I do not accept:

"Music costs too much!"
Boo-hoo. So do plasma tvs. Do we get to steal everything we think is too expensive?

"They play music on the radio for free!"
Well, no. They pay a fee to the song's performance rights organization (for example, ASCAP), who then pays the owner of the song's copyright. Owner's of the recording copyright are indirectly compensated through the publicity generated by radio play (and are willing participants in the system).

"If it's digital, it's free!"
Not until we live in some sort of money-less "Star Trek: The Next Generation" utopia. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.

Flame on! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I have never said that mp3's should be free forever... I have always maintained that I will pay for mp3's what I believe them to be worth. The mp3 format is a degraded quality when compared to CD quality (or wav).

So, if a CD with 10 songs costs $10 then a CD quality song is worth $1 --provided that it is equally packaged and delivered. Now, deduct $0.10 for having me download the song; deduct another $0.10 for not packaging the product (no overhead there); now a CD quality song is worth about $0.80 to me.

However, we are not talking about a CD quality song. We are talking about a mp3 quality song, which at best is not even 1/10 as good as CD. So, one of those songs is worth no more than $0.05 to me.

I will gladly pay that much for each song. Until then, I will rage against the machine. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Well, I don't think I saw anyone else ask, so I will.

Is she hot? If so, why don't you share her pics with us?

Downloading music isn't illegal everywhere. If I wanted to, I could download until my head fell off and no one can complain about the legal aspects here.

So, it's not always the same thing.

Oh and.. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif
