View Full Version : Ever pitch a show to a network?

I never thought I'd be soliciting help from a place called "the poop shoot", but I also don't want to come off as some schlub who tries to email a script to Kevin Smith every other week. This seems like a non-threatening way of asking for some advice...

I'm looking for advice on making a pitch to a network- I'm not looking for a contact or a foot in the door- I already have that. I've also got the concept, somewhat of a budget, and a really good idea of how I want production run as far as shooting style, graphics, etc. What I don't have is any idea as to what to expect when I walk in the door and make the actual pitch. I don't want to be walking in there with my d*ck in my hand and only half a clue. What kind of information do I need to have already, do I need to set up production and post on my own, product sponsorships, copyrights, etc, etc.

I would ask around at work, but I'm really trying to keep this quiet for now. Like I said, I don't want to be walking in anywhere with only half a clue. I'd like to give at least somewhat of an impression that I know what I'm doing. And I don't want to be screwed over and wind up turning on the TV some evening, watching my show being done by someone else...

Any help would be hot.

Hey, thanks.

On a side note- this is number 500... I've been coming here since 3/30/03 and I'm just now hitting 500... I'm not sure how I feel...

How do you think I feel?

I feel your pain... I'll drink to your low postage if you'll drink to mine.

Some may say it's too early for beer, but I just got off work and it's all that's left in the fridge. And it's not even good beer- it's stuff my old man bought when he helped me move, God bless him. But it's a holiday over here, so the odds of finding a store that's open and not charging a ridiculous price are not good. So I make do. And then I'll pass out and call the relatives...

501... Does that mean I'm a slacker when it comes to the 'shoot or does it prove I have a life outside of the digital domain? Can the two be fused together like some cyber-jack, Johnny Nmumonic existence? Or would my brain melt and my pecker rot off?

Did I mention I'd drink to your low numbers? Man, this stuff is going down easy...
