It hasn't been digitally remastered. The special features are rather sparse. The menus leave much to be desired. And, yeah, a few of the episodes suck outright (Christmas with the Joker springs to mind).

But when this show is good, it is damn good. Visually and narratively it is still to this day without peer. The hyper-stylized Fleischer-esque design of the characters, the absolutely beautiful dark deco painted backgrounds, the caliber of the voice performances, and some truly moving and poignant stories. They don't make them like this anymore, and I'm pretty sure they never did before. This is the quintessential Batman.

But how much does it COST MAN!?!

Matt1

Cost me about $40. Quite a bargain for 28 episodes. Well worth it.

Hmmm, that is decent. I had grown accustomed to pilliaging from kazaa for episodes like the poor boy I am, but at just over $1 an episode, [i]I can't afford not to buy it.

until this gets a region 2 release, or my secure site problem is fixed (so I can get on to amazon) I'll be watching my kazaa downloaded episodes still.

I just picked up the first season DVD recently. I know I'm behind, but I have to agree. The show is just phenomenal.

Two other good ones -- great storytelling:

Well, you're in for a treat when you get around to the next two sets.

Also, where the hell are my Justice League box-sets? They need to get on that, ASAP.

I had heard that Sub-Zero was pretty good. As for Starcrossed, yeah, great episodes. I just don't want stand-alone DVDs! Give me box-sets or give me death! I mean, a less fatal version of death. With no pain involved. Y'know what? Just give me the box-set and I'll worry about the "or" part later.

That last sentence should become a rallying cry for all of geekdom.

At least you were smart enough to get the widescreen version...:D

I know someone who didn't know what the difference was between the gold and silver color packaging. He just thought it would be cooler to have the gold colored box....what a dumbass.

Thank god silver is all we get here, I think we don't get a choice, usually widescreen is the imported default, for pan and scan, they tend to shit over people on VHS copies for that.

my current Favourite DVD is an Aussie kids show from 92/3 called "round the twist"
http://www.roundthetwist.com/goodies/photo_gallery/images/past_twists/twistfam2.jpg
about 3 kids who have weird adventures each week, ah to be eleven again. I've only watched oe episode so far but knowing I only have another 12 to get through makes me feel sad (as opposed to some other retro tv dvd's where I only watch an episode every few months because I've outgrown it)

But yeah, the Star Wars OT is cool, along with the Indy Trilogy (lacking in features hmmm.) Oh and I have Eerie Indiana being sent to me soon, by my favourite overseas dealers, Caiman Usa.

I hate to sound like a kiss ass, but my View Askew DVD's are still my favorite. I'm an extras gal and Kev really knows how to give good extra. In event of fire, those will be the DVD's I'd evacuate first.

My father-in-law gave me the "Gold" version, so when I took it back to Suncoast the clerk just giggled and grabbed me a "Silver" one. He didn't even ask why I was returning it, apparently the fullscreen was a popular gift this Christmas season.

Maybe they should have made the Gold box the Wide Screen version. Most people assocuate Gold as being better than Silver, so they probably just picked up the Gold box without looking at them.

Of course, it could have been a devious marketing ploy by Lucas to sell more Full Screen versions of the movie. You know, some dork is think..."Well, I already got this one, so I might as well keep it."

Maybe we're all wrong and the box is "platinum" colored- everyone knows platinum > gold.

Wouldn't you have had to have seen each film one million times to warrant a platinum copy. I have seen them a lot, but not a million, not yet.......

Well, I was talking about the box, but, yeah, a platinum DVD of Star Wars on my wall would be pretty effing cool...
