Hello all,
I'm a first time poster, but I just had a quick question...I'm assuming that all know about the upcoming "Bennifer" flick (directed by Kevin Smith) "Jersey Girl," but does anyone know about the supposed Sony flick 'Gigli' which MSNBC says is renamed 'Tough Love' that sound surprisingly like "Chasing Amy"??? Here's the MSNBC site: Is Affleck-Lopez Film a Time Bomb? (http://www.msnbc.com/news/893456.asp)
/forums/images/icons/confused.gif any input would help this confused Smith fan...gracias... /forums/images/icons/grin.gif Amanda

The only advice I can give is to treat it as the BASIC to JERSEY GIRL's PULP FICTION, if that makes any sense. Just because it's got the same two big names in it doesn't have anything to do with similar quality.
I've seen all kinds of people trashing TOUGH LOVE already, and I can't say since I haven't seen it (but it's nothing like CHASING AMY), but I HAVE seen JERSEY GIRL. Look at Affleck in, say, ARMAGEDDON versus CHASING AMY. He and Smith work great together. Again, I'm not speaking to TOUGH LOVE (what a bad, generic name change, though), but comparing the two just does both a disservice, I think.

IC, and I didn't mean to compare those two pics, I love "Chasing Amy" and before I saw it I had just enough respect for Affleck that he wasn't on my sh*t list... But I love Smith's stuff, so I finally got my hands on his 'old' stuff--for me they're 'old' since i'm only...God, i'm young...19...(ooh, goodie, I can say 20 in 6 days though... /forums/images/icons/grin.gif )
*jumps back on her train of thought*
Anyways, I was just wondering if they were confused re: movies, or if there were in fact two Bennifer movies...
coo coo...peace out...Amanda /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

I can't wait to see Jersey Girl. But I really like Armaggedon... /forums/images/icons/blush.gif Is that a problem ?
Maybe except for the part where Willis and Affleck pretend to be able to core 800 ft in a few hours. Or I really need to have Ben coming work for me /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Armageddon If you liked it, then good news...You can now watch it in reverse in theaters. It is called The Core!
The only bad part for you T is that Ben Affleck in reverse becomes Aaron Ekhart.

Aren't you the funny type... I saw the Core. Come on, it's not a hit, but it's not that bad... /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

hmm....you know that would be a tough choice...most people don't know where to see Ekhart sans biker gear (he was in Erin Brockovich with a serious Harley Davidson...grr)I think you should check out POSSESION...I thought it was a pretty good concept and Ekhart and Paltrow give decent performances, but the cinematography is the best...anywho...I haven't seen THE CORE yet, but I hope that it's not as bad as all the critics say it is... /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

Possession was very well done (and came from a great book by A.S. Byatt). Wonderful cast, and a great director.
I am impressed with Aaron Eckhart. He usually chooses his roles carefully, so I was suprised to see him go big budget dumb, but hey! money is money and I wouldn't turn it down either.
When you watch Possession, In the Company of Men, Erin Brockovich, and Your Friends & Neighbors you really get a sense of the range he has. I hope that his jump to The Core does not speak of a total career redirection. His talent seems to be beyond that.
What was Hilary Swank doing in that movie? Stanley Tucci? EEK! Not one to ever knock a movie until I have actually seen it, my friend paid for me to go the other night. Exactly what I expected.

I did a couple day's work on the re-shoots they did on Gigli/Tough Love and saw what looked to be about 50% great and 50% so-so, but depending on the final cut, it could be a pretty good flick...Guess we'll have to wait it out and judge for ourselves.
Story wise, from what I saw, the only similarity to CA was Ben's character playing opposite Iffer's Lesbian character.
