So whatever virus software I loaded on the laptop recently now blocks me from posting here from there. I get this "invalid host" message every time I try, which makes me ability to post here even more limited (if anyone has any idea how to fix this, let me know!). Still, on my mind lately:

--anyone watch our own Matt Singer on that MTV show tonight? The show itself is basically a 30-minute plug for that crappy Will Smith cartoon, but still, Matt acquitted himself nicely. Hope to see more.

--who watched LOST? It's a shame they broke the kick-ass pilot into two episodes, since it worked so well as one long show. But taken as basically half of the first episode, what'd you think? And if you didn't watch it, I hate you. Unless you were watching Matt's show for the first half-hour.

--the little menu bits on the new STAR WARS DVDs are pretty damned awesome. Nice set all around, although the packaging is pretty chincy compared to even the Indiana Jones set.

--I need more friggin' time to play STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT. Any game that lets me kill Jawas and Ewoks deserves to be played often.

--I had an official Hollywood meeting this past Monday morn, my first, basically, unless sitting on Kevin's patio and talking about launching Movie Poop Shoot counts. Hopefully I can say why soon, but it made me feel all cool for about fifteen minutes. Until the meeting got cut short so the person I was there with could do meet with more important people.

--while up in LA, me and Scott Tipton got to go check out the new Secret Stash in Westwood. I've been to the other one, and I have to say, sorry Walt, but this one blows it away. A beautiful place. I don't quite get the bitching about back issues that I saw on Kevin's board, but I do think they need to carry more IDW books. And move those Movie Poop Shoot t-shirts up from the bottom-right-most corner where they're currently "stashed."

--I also got to see the Brian Lynch while in LA on Sunday. I always like to see the Brian Lynch. He's a good egg.

--I'm barely finding time to do both the new job and keep the site going, hence my sparse time here. But I did notice that there are some new douchy people here that might need a good beat-down. So if you see anyone who's just out to piss everyone off, drop me a line and I can break out the Ban Stick.

--Against my better judgement, I really find that Kelly Ripa to be pretty charming and cute. Should I hate myself for it? Maybe.

--my big geek comic purchase this week was that new Elric of Melnibone book. I'm pretty sure I'll never read it, but I just like Walt Simonson's art. I bought that new Black Widow book for Bill Sienkiewicz's art today, too, and doubt I'll read that one, either. But it looks great.

--anyone ever heard of Stephen Lynch? He's a funny-ass singer who just happens to have a great Jeff Buckley-esque voice. Like Tenacious D but cruder and more melodic.

Alright, I'm done.

I feel your anti-virus pain. I basically had to wrap my 'puter in shrink wrap for a while because some mealy mouth cork soakers had locked it up. I got the same message for a while here too.
I didn't get to see Lost because I was stuck at work, working on a bid.
Stephen Lynch is an effing riot. Check his 30 min. special on Comedy Central if you can. He does the show with audience members on stage, kind of like he's playing in a coffee house. Funny as hell.

1) Download Firefox. Stop using Internet Explorer. You are just begging to get a virus or a hack job.

2) Star Wars Battlefront (not Battlefields) is a ton of fun. The maps could be bigger but those battles are massive... MASSIVE.

3) I agree with you about the Star Wars packaging. At least they put all the effort into the disks, but it is pretty obvious that they are saying "the package sucks because we are coming out with another set in 32 months to celebrate the 30th anniversary."

4) I have Kelly Ripa fever! I can't help it. I didn't want it to happen but it did... sigh.

5) I saw Matt on MTV... the show was cheese! So I loved it. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

So i watched the last 2 thirds of Lost last night, and i think that this has the chance to be the best new show of the season. I missed the beginning because of work, (stupid deadlines) but from what i saw this show is going to rock.

the title "lost" as in "land of?", I wonder. So what did i miss at the front of the show? I came in when the guy from Party of five was flashing back on the crash.

I did! I loved it. It didn't bother me that they broke the Pilot up. The first hour was strong enough to stand on it's own. I like the characters and hope that thing whatever it was eats the bitchy blond first. I loved how JJ always finds a role for his favorite actors. They guy who was the Pilot is awesome.

I read it years ago (I actually have a letter printed in the third issue...what a dork, huh?). Isn't that the one where Bendis yells "NOT LIKE THIS! LIKE THIS!!!" right before he crashes into a Kree spaceship in one of the stupidest death scenes of all time? No, wait, that was his Avengers this week. I miss the halcyon Fortune and Glory days.

>You make a comment on Kelly Ripa and not on Jessica Alba's FF pic? For shame. You've changed, man. Is it the married life or the living in San Diego?

Neither, it's me not being particularly enthused by that first pic. The costume looks a tad lame, even though it looks good on Alba. Still, give me the Alba in the Sin City trailer over that...

Please, God, tell me that she didn't just compare the mastery of Bill Sienkiewicz, a guy who's been a legend in comics for well over two decades, to watered-down Ben Templesmith. That's like saying Sienkiewicz just ripepd off Ash Wood or Alex Maleev. And you write a column on comics? What next, telling me that those Beatles chaps ripped off Oasis? I love Ben, and Ash and Alex, but those guys owe their career in mainstream comics to Bill S.

And I did get Astonishing, too, along with a stack of other books. I love that book--best X-Men I've read in a decade or more.

--anyone watch our own Matt Singer on that MTV show tonight? The show itself is basically a 30-minute plug for that crappy Will Smith cartoon, but still, Matt acquitted himself nicely. Hope to see more.

You bet I watched it. Matt really needs more camera time. Who are these other people? MTV determined that the movie going public could be broken down into three demographic groups: Men, women, and geeks. That’s fine, I guess, but I expected they would’ve had three people that could speak intelligently about movies. I suppose you could get a sense of Mello’s taste and sensibilities from a listing of his favorite films and, based on that information, a review declaring that a new film is “off the hook” should be sufficient to deliver the gist, yo. But it isn’t; not for me. Matt is a student of film with personality and a sense of humor. The other folks are just people who watch movies, it seems. I don’t know.
