Personally, I liked his vision when it was fake. (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3)
All who concur with the general sentiment expressed in this webcomic, say "I."
Personally, this whole thing keeps reminding me of the foreward to Brave New World, the author says he often thought of redoing some of the rough spots, but ultimately realized he wasn't a very talented writer, the book largely happend by accident, and he stood a much better chance of corrupting what charm it contained than improving it in any meaningful way.
I'm still seeing Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith though, the subtitle alone demands I pay homage.

Because, like 99% of the Lucas-bashers, YOU ARE FULL OF SHIT. You jerk off to Star Wars and its changes. Stop pretending to not love the shit out of the cgi.
Tools, all of you.

I am suspending my final decision until after Episode III. I thought 1 was okay, 2 was better, and hopefully 3 will be everything I've ever hoped it could be.
I said in another thread that I don't have the $50 to buy the new set, and I've noticed the latest barrage of Star Wars paraphenalia (including the re-release of the figurines), but you know what? To each his own. I'm not buying any of it, because I'm poor. Very poor. If I had the money, I probably still wouldn't, because I'm not *that* big of a Star Wars fan. I do love the movies.
As for Lucas' vision, hey, I see where both sides are coming from, but ultimately, I don't think it's a bad thing that he wants it just so. Technology shouldn't get in the way of someone's vision, in my opinion.

Wait a minute!
You have decided not to buy the DVD's? How is that possible? I thought Lucas was using mind control over everyone to FORCE them to buy everything he releases! This is crazy talk from you. Crazy!

The mind control apparently worked on me. First stop after work yesterday.

I decided I'm more of a Kevin Smith fan than a Star Wars fan, and bought Clerks X. Although, that's just hoping a certain grandparent comes through for my birthday as for me acquiring the more expensive set. Then again, she always ends up buying the P&S versions no matter how many times I ask for Widescreen.

I am trying to resist but as we all know it is impossible to resist Lucas.

Listen, everybody needs to stop complaining about Lucas's revisions. He was the sole director and writer of all three of the films so that means he gets the final say. It was his unique vision... wait, what? What's that you say? Other people directed The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi? Their names are Irvin Kershner and Richard Marquand? Other people helped write them too? Lawrence Kasdan? The Big Chill guy?
But wait, doesn't that blow the whole, "It's his vision, he gets final say" argument out of the water? I'm experiencing cognitive dissonance. Somebody help me suss this all out.

More ignorance from a Lucas basher. The facts are that Kershner gave his blessing to the changes (even made suggestions) and that Marquand (as per comments by Kershner and Kasdan) directed about as much as Lucas and Kershner's AD. One of the reasons that Lucas ended up directing the prequels is because of his experience with ROTJ --where he ended up writing, producing, and directing. Unfortunately, Marquand was not experienced with effects movies and just didn't know how to shoot much of ROTJ.
As for Kasdan helping him write the script, Lucas has had help with all of the movies. Lucas writes the story and some dialogue, then he gets a professional writer to come in and help him with the dialogue and scenes. The stories are still his (like with the Indiana Jones series... all written by Lucas).
Correct me if i'm wrong, and i know you will /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif , but didn't Carrie Fisher do a little script doctoring on the Prequel movies.

The rumor is that she did some work on Phantom Menace.

I'm no Lucas basher, I just like to play the Devil's advocate from time to time. I was quite satisfied with the box-set, and the changes Lucas made don't really bother me that much (still could have done without Jabba in a New Hope). I do have one complaint about the set though. The case covers for each movie. Why cut and paste from frames of the movie when you've got those glorious Greg Struzan special edition posters laying around? Sheesh.

Or maybe one of these...

Maintain continuity with the prequel covers.
Not a big fan either but oh well. I am over it.
