Yes if you didn't see Chris' very nice mention in his column and this week's TV Recommendations, I have somehow weaseled my way onto a brand-new movie review show that debuts this Wednesday, September 22nd, at 8 PM on MTV. It's called "Your Movie Show" and I'm one of three "real" people who judge the movie and share their opinion.

If you've got cable and you can pull yourself away from America's Next Top Model, then by gum please watch so MTV's happy and they decide to make more episodes.

The homepage for the show is up on MTV's site HERE (http://www.mtv.com/onair/dyn/yourmovieshow/series.jhtml). That's my ugly mug plastered all over it.

Who'da thunk it?!?

Way to go!! Now, that you've got your foot in the door, you can bring MTV down from the inside. Oh, wait, they pay you? Hooray for MTV!!

Do you realize what you ask? You'd better be worth it, man.

Congrats! See, I knew I should've got your autograph at the Stash Bash. Go you!

Congrats! You know the goal to become randomly obscure and funny enough to get on those VH1 Remembers whatever decade. This will ensure your place in tv history.

I will do my best, but my roommate only truly watches one or two shows and top model is one of them. I might be able to change it turning commercials.

Don't worry FG, i'm sure MTV will air it about a million times this weekend, if'n you can't change the channel.

I'm going to watch this now, but i will admit that i groaned when i saw the preview of the show pimping "Shark Attack" or whatever that movie is. Call me jaded but i assumed it was another informercial for an upcoming film, that would feature no real critique of the movie (which just looks awful, to me). So good luck with, you have just added on viewer.

Well , if it will benefit you , I suppose I could rescend my boycott of the aforementioned network for one hour.

p.s. Those dishes in my sink aren't washing themselves.

So uh...the silence is deafening...did anyone watch? What did everyone/anyone think?

To be honest, I thought the show was cheesy, but you freaking rocked man. And I'm not saying that because you write on the board and because you are hot, you totally seemed like you actually knew what you were talking about.

However, Shark Tale looks like a cheap rip off of Finding Nemo with slight hints of Monster's Inc. jokes floating around at parts (eg: the 'walk' or 'swim' sign). I don't know, the first two minutes didn't impress me and I can't stand that 'Car Wash' remake. But you rocked! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Hey that's cool - I'd rather have honesty. It's just the first episode and I hope that if we do make more of 'em we will fiddle with it a little and try to improve it. I haven't even seen the show yet myself; I was in class when it aired so that's why I'm particularly interested in hearing people's reactions.

I did like this that you said:

I hope you do as well. The show has a lot of potential, but I felt the show was rushed and well, not very put together well. I think they only need one host and then the three panelists. And I felt the 'boy' and the 'girl' were how do I say, trying too hard to be awesome. Eh, stage presence people. You have to have it.

Don't worry, I'm planning to watch it on Saturday morning, although I'll be a little hungover so my feedback will probably consist of everything on the show being too loud or bright.

You were great, man. Your co-hosts were....um....you were great! I'd watch it again for the Singer element alone. By the way, I know it was your first show and all and that you were probably a little nervous, but I kept waving at the screen and you never waived back. What's up?

Really, though, when the Girl was celebrating the film's soundtrack I noticed that you were taking notes. What did you write?

And for the record, I enjoyed your observation about the potential problems for weak-bladdered children who may want to see the film. Very thoughful of you to point out, Matt.

I hope they let you do more. What is the deal, anyway? When will you find out if more shows are going to get made?

Again, great Job, you magnificent, genderless geek.

I saw "MTV" in the title of this thread and completely avoided it. If you've seen the picture in my profile...

...you could have guessed. Now I'm sorry I did. Congrats, Matt. I wish I would have checked it out.

Someone should do the ultra nerdy deed of recording this and possibly uploading it somewhere. I live in the land of Much Music... MTV doesn't exist up here... just beer and moose.

I did wave, but they cut it out of the final version of the show. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Believe it or not, I was taking notes on their reviews while the other people were talking. It was for a couple of reasons; first because as you could see the cameras were on us at all times and it gave me something to be doing if they looked at me and also because I was hoping to talk about the other people's reviews in my review. I had stuff to say, but unfortunately at the last moment some of my ideas got kaiboshed because one of the producers was concerned if they cut out what they said then my comments wouldn't make any sense.

(Ironically, one of the jokes I made in the show - calling Jolie a "hoochie" or however I put it - was referring to something in another review that ended up not making the final show)

It was a good line, and totally spontaneous, too, though I didn't love my delivery (something I think has to be worked on if we get an episode 2).

It's up in the air for a couple of reasons, but supposedly we're supposed to find out about it in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks Tom, I really appreciate you watching and your comments. That "ungendered" gag was something I threw in spur of the moment when I was getting sick of the fact that they were calling me a geek when the others were guys and girls. Every take I was saying it differently, ungendered ended up being the one they used. I thought it was funny, but from what some people have said, it was unclear that I was joking, some people thought they made me say it which was not the case. As I am learning, subtlety is not your friend on television.

Mighty_Wingman

Okay heres my pitch :
Drop the losers who kept calling you geek . I mean it's okay when we do it, 'cuz ya know, you're one of us . It just seemed like a bad word when they said it and they made extra effort to keep pointing it out. Condescending little shits...like high school all over again !

Find other people who actually know something about movies, because like, they've seen more than four of them in their lifetime," yo". I mean you could pick your friends, or your colleagues here at the 'shoot, or even a few of us posters , seems to me you could have found more knowledgeable comments about movies from kindergardeners.

Next time someone asks you who you'd take to see the movie ? Don't say " I'd go by myself " . Say " I'm taking Mommy. " You seem much less geeky that way. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

In summation; you were cool, and knew what you were talking about . Everyone else ? Sucked it dryer than a hot desert wind.
