I was reading this (http://entertainment.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4459,10743397%255E10431%255E%255Enbv,00.html) article about how about 5 years of Days of our Lives & Young and the Restless episodes are being condensed into an hour to get us closer to the US. I remembered a time not too long ago, when I was completely addicted to DOOL. Seriously, I used to tape it each day and watch it when I got home from work. We were another 2 years behind the eastern states (so about 7 years in total from the US) - the fashion differences were a crack and the size of the mobile phones were hilarious! In the end I realised I was watching the eps in fast forward coz I wasn't really interested in it anyway and I just quit cold turkey.

What tv shows have you been addicted to?

I have never been addicted to any TV show. However, I just can't seem to stay away from Stargate SG-1, not that I would try to stay away from it.

Here we have a channel called SOAPnet which plays Soap Operas 24 Hours a day. DOOL was recently acquired as was 90210 and Melrose Place in addition to the 17 or so other soaps. I only know this because my boss was one of the ones who did the deal. I don't think they offer this channel worldwide yet, but Disney (they own soapnet) will get to your corner eventually.

I got sucked into "Dragonball Z" a few years ago. The show was tedious as hell, but I just couldn't stop myself.

I always wondered why they are called 'soaps'. Well, not much thought put into this post here. But I couldn't help myself.

ratm, I am with you! I LOVE STARGATE SG-1!!!!!! I cannot, and will not live without it. What sucks is that over here, they have only just begun to show the second half of season 7. And the only person on this planet that loves it as much as me is my dad. He has the box sets of seaons 1,2,3 and 4, they're the only ones that have come out over here.
I am also a huge fan of 24, but its a bit harder to watch cos if you miss one episode, you're lost.
STARGATE SG-1 FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

I still don't understand why you still hang around here when no body likes you.

I know you enjoy pissing people off and all, but still...

If you are that obsessed with it, you need help. Go bother some preteen board, where I am sure you will be liked.

What makes you even want to stay here? You are either stupid, ignorant, or brilliant. I can safely say NOT brilliant, just because none of your posts have been that smart or funny. That leaves stupid or ignorant.

Let's take it to the rest of the board...

I have gone through so many stages of addiction.

I have at some point been addicted to:

Alf
The Muppets
The A-Team
Charles in Charge
Benson
Diff'rent Strokes
Growing Pains
Northern Exposure
Quantum Leap
The Nanny
The Golden Girls
Dukes of Hazzard
Heehaw (yes, Heehaw)
Highlander
Star Trek NG
Sliders
Cheers
Perfect Strangers
Laverne & Shirley
Cagney & Lacey
Fall Guy
The Cosby Show
The Simpsons
Law and Order (all three now)
ER
Space Ghost
Sealab
The X Files (Lord, how I was)
SNL re-runs
Wings
Knight Rider
Mr. Rogers
Reading Rainbow
Fresh Prince
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Voltron
Picture Pages
Count Duckula

..and so on. Nowadays, I'm hardly ever home, and when I sit down to watch something, I fall asleep. I'm such an old fart. I go watch movies with my grandmother, and I'm the one who falls asleep. I get ribbed by everyone. I miss having the time to watch television /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

For a while I was addicted to watching Smallville. Only because I thought Lex was hot. I haven't watched it for almost a year now. Mainly because I hate the way they end the season with a major cliffhanger. Waiting 3 months to see if my favorite character dies is really irritating.
Now, as I've noted before, am addicted to Rescue Me.

I'm still heavily addicted to the Simpsons. I watch 2 1/2 hours a day on average of the Simpsons, when I'm not busy, anyway.

Here in New Mexico, Mondays repeat episodes of SG-1 are on Monday through Friday at 4:00 PM. Then, on Mondays from 5:00 - 9:00 PM, they show more repeat episodes. Fridays at 6:00 PM is another repeat episode, then at 7:00 PM is the new episode. This Friday is the summer season finale of season 8. They will do repeats until the new fall/winter episodes air.

The Season 7 boxed set is out in Oct here. Well, at least through Best Buy. I have seasons 1-6 so far.

Star Trek: Voyager is now being released on DVD too. That was another one of my addictions back when it was still on TV. I have the first three seasons and season four comes out later this month.

Man, thats like 11 episodes of Stargate a week! I would love to have that here. All we have is two new episodes a week on at 10:30pm (of all times possible!!!) on Wednesday and Thursday. I think the season 5 box set comes out here in november. We are so behind you guys when it comes to movie releases and TV shows. Don't tell me what happens in the second half of season 7 cos thats what is being shown right now. And I also wish that they would do those Stargate conventions over here that they showed in the special features of the season 3 box set. They look so cool. I would kill to go to one of those.

They are called soaps because they were sponsored by detergent companies targeting the happy housewives who were watching the shows.

Quantum Leap, Buffy, Angel, Animaniacs, Red Dwarf, DangerMouse,
