I haven't gone to the movies in a very long time and i plan to this weekend. But i don't just want to see just some movie just for the sake of going out. I just want to see one of those movies that i can't shake. One that stays in your head.
The last 3 moives I went to see.
1 Sherk 2
2 Harry Potter 3
3 Elle Enchanted
I have a 2 yr old girl.
Thanks for any help.

If those are your choices, then I recommend you see the barrels of a shotgun pressed right up against your forehead. Followed closely by a bright short pain.
As opposed to the hour and a half you'll spend suffering if you see one of those movies.

Spiderman 2 is great, but it may be a little too intense for a two-year-old. Although, I have to say, the kids in the theatre were mercifully quiet, during my screening. It reminded me of how well-behaved my cousins would be when "The Incredible Hulk" came on the television.

Actually, she said those are the last three she has seen. I guess she actually survived them, well, patially intact anyways.
I would have to recommend Spiderman 2. My nephew is a big Spidey fan and he is about three y/o. Okay, every time a new super hero movie comes out, he is a big fan. Anyways, he was very good and well behaved in the movie, and was excited to go back and see it a second time.

I say, go see whatever at the movies - but get a babysitter for the brat.

Let me get this straight. You have a 2 year old girl? I bet that once you decide on a movie, you're going to take her with you. If that's the case, don't go. Don't bring babies into movie theaters! But if you want to leave her home with a babysitter, then by all means, see Shrek!

Two years olds don't cry as much as the younger ones. Shrek would keep her attention, though.

dont bring 2 year olds into movies, unless they are kid movies.
When I saw Spider-Man 2 I almost killed some children. One of the little bastards brought Spiderman toys and was mimicking along ALOUD with the God Damn movie. Another little Mother F*cker kept yelling things out. And some 12 year old thoughtit would cute to bring a laser pointer, that was untill I grabbed it from him and threw it to the front of the theater.
Quick story, when I went to an Indy theater in Dallas this one time, this guy kept turning on his phone and answering his calls, so this big Hispanic man warned him a couple of times, the 3rd time he punched him in the Nose and threw him out the Fire exit. After the Movie the cops showed up, aksed if anyone had seen what happened, Everyone said they didnt see a thing. :-)

When Episode I first came out, our theater had extra ushers in the individual screening rooms. If your cell phone or beeper went off, you got kicked out. If you talked during the film (other than to cheer on the movie), you got kicked out. If you had a rug rat that wouldn't shut up, you got kicked out.
Oh yeah, and you didn't get your money back.

Oh My God - I love your theatre. I think those tactics should be employed by all movie theatres everywhere.
We've even said that if we ever own a theatre there will be a screening process including a questionaire and interview before people can see a movie.

You still don't get it yet, do you?
We do not start cutting anyone any slack until they learn how to create intelligable sentances, yourself included.
Go read something, and come back when you get a clue.

By all means...don't take a two year old unless it's a movie targeted at young children.
When I saw Anchorman there were two women who had brought their collective broods. The oldest was probably nine the youngest was a toddler. They didn't shut up, and the oldest was the worst. She kept running up and the aisle in these [censored] flip flops. Who takes kids to see a movie like this? Jack-asses!

My two year old son has been to the theater twice. Both times to see Shrek 2. My parents took him the first time, and I took him a coupla weeks ago so that my wife could get some homework done. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, we were the only two people in the place. If he got excited and loud it didn't matter, no one to bother.

My parents took me to the movies all the time, though I was a quiet child. Dunno when that changed. Anyway, they would take me to what they wanted to see, since I was pretty much just fascinated by the big screen with all the moving pictures. They went in knowing the risk: If I got upset, restless, whatever, one of them would rush me to the lobby to quiet me down and not disturb the patrons.
Turns out, leaving the movie upset me more, so they'd give me a moment to quiet down, let me know that I had to be quiet to go back in, and that worked. It's the parenting that bugs me these days.

Unfortunately, I moved and the theater owner here doesn't give a rat's ass what goes on in the screening rooms. I was watching a movie a couple of weeks ago, and it was about to start. The two people in front of me talked for the entire 20 minutes before it started without shutting up once. I was gonna lean forward and say "I know you will shut your mouths once the movie starts." but the lights dimmed and they actually shut up. But then, some kids a few rows back kept making noise. I wanted to smack their mom for bringing such ill-behaved kids out in public.

Frist of all I would never take my child to a movie that was not specificly for them. That is why I haven't gone to the movies in a long time. duh
Second my child is well behaved when we go out or i would not take my children. Some of us do know how to bring up our kids right.

I see i wasn't real clear this is not a debate of the correct age a parent should wait befor taking them to the movies. I perfected that lession kids when my son was born. I only mentioned her because it explains the need for help and my last movies choices.
think you all who have made suggestions really. I think its the Villege.

But I digress, if you, Mysterious Lurker, are just now coming to this thread to figure out what movie you should see this weekend, you're about...
...two years late. I don't think you're find Sherk 2 (sic) in any theater.

I loved Shrek 2!
I have yet to see it...
Maybe I'm afraid it will ruin the first one for me. I don't know.

....buy the first one!
i saw Shrek 2 on my flight from Philly to Shannon, Ireland, but i was too cheap to buy the headphones (plus i was supposed to be sleeping), so i couldn't hear it....
....buy the first one!
I've seen the first one about fifty times! I really enjoyed it. So often, for me personally, the sequal has sullied my experience with the first...

1 is definitely better than 2. I've seen 1 at least 50 times, 2 twice. I'd rather see 1 again.
But the Giant Gingerbreadman is so cute. Poor Gingy.

I hated Shrek.
Eddie Murphy is so bad in it he makes me want to hurt things.
Monsters, Inc. should have won the Oscar that year.

Monsters, Inc. is so much better than Shrek, it hurts. I cried so hard when I saw it, and Boo looks exactly like my friend's daughter. Such an awesome movie.
Monsters, Inc. just dropped on Blu-ray. I may have to get that for myself as a Christmas present
