View Full Version : AOL IM inspired language
Oh Boy...
I'm noticing a lot of AOL I.M.-type grammar around these days. I'm not perfect myself, but Jumpin' Jesus Christ!(on a trampoline...)
There will be a tsunami of words that now end with a Z !
Vowels will be used in places never thought of!
Oh the HORROR!!! /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif

I never realized this new dialect was a AIM creation, but it does make sense. I was afraid a Prince disease was sweeping the nation.

ROFLMAO! NAFTA! LOLOLL!
I'm waiting for the forced Esperanto merge of AOL and l33t speak. Besides what the infamous Jeff K at SomethingAwful does, of course.

Man, I don't get this shit at all. I see l33t all the time and have no idea what it means. I think that we should either have a topic that defines all the things, or just make fun of people that use them. I prefer to make fun of people. Who's with me?

I'm with you all the way. I both detest and adore that l33t speak shit. Detest because it's just a huge sign of spreading idiocy, and adore because it's frigging funny to talk like that when you're not being serious about it. In fact, one of the funniest things I've ever seen is Romeo and Juliet in l33t speak. Check it out:

Congratulations anyhow for starting a conversation whose subject does not include the words Matrix and/or Reloaded. It makes a refreshing change and I hope an example of things to come.

Hey , Zen's married and didn't think to tell me till she had enticed me in to her evil web of sin. Jaysgurl isn't, I hope. Come to think of it I haven't asked.

Yeah, she's a heart breaker. We should start a web-site for all of the empty shells that used to be men that tried to court Zen.

I mailed you both a copy of my dusty little black book. You will be able to commence site creation upon arrival. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Uhg I play a text based mud and a lot of the people on there use that language. It's rampant now and damned annoying

I'm seeing the same thing happening on the mud I play(ed) on. We do our best to mock those that tend to use that language at every opportunity.

Nope - not the new Affleckie. There are heights I may never aspire to.
...but I must agree that Thursday is the new Friday, and crimson is the new black (All the guys are shaking their heads in confusion right now, but we understand /forums/images/icons/wink.gif )

that's the problem. You ladies spend more time confusing us, less time populating!
Zens_7s

Or copulating? Osculating?
You know, we woman get together for secret meetings to plot ways to confuse men. Last week's topic: "Say you want a nice guy, but when they start acting like one, tell them you only want to be friends and you just don't feel that way about them."

Sure, we get hosed on most of the deal, but as long as we don't lose sundays, golf, football, Simpsons, cookouts, so on, I think it'll work out. Also, "nice friends" don't have high-pressure crisis (crisees? crisae?) that the "boyfriends" do, at least not to the same degree. We aren't immediately part of whatever problem.
