M. Night Shyamalans new movie: The Village; looks kick ass! His films in the past have been awesome like: The Sixth Sense, and Unbreakable; so this should be just as enjoyable. The storyline is incredible and pretty freaky...
I was also wondering, has anyone ever seen that interview in the Unbreakable special edition DVD with M. Night Shyamalan where he shows a fight seen in the first movie he ever did when he was a kid? THE VILLAGE (http://thevillage.movies.go.com/)

This was the biggest load of crap. Trust me on this do not see this movie... yes it is that bad. Hey I liked his other movies even though they had the typical hollywoood twist at the end. I am more pissed at wasting my money than the other people that went because I paid for two people.

My feelings about this movie can best be summed up by quoting one of the reviews I read...
"Every Village needs an idiot...M. Knight Shyamalan is hoping it's you." Trust me, my friends, don't even pay the video rental on this one!

You know, I had planned on watching this today. Now that Denyse has criticized it so much, I think I will still go see it. Gotta see for myself you know.
If, oh say at about 4:15PM Mountain Time, you hear a God awful scream of "Lord, why me? Why couldn't I have just listened to Denyse?" You will know that I have agreed with her.
4:36PM - Okay, I watched the movie. My opinion? Well, it was nowhere near what I was expecting in going off of all of the trailers and advertisements. So, in meeting my expectations based on advertising, it was a miserable failure.
However, I do have to say that I liked it quite a bit in that it had a good story, good acting, cool plot/plot twists surprises), and some good (well known) actors in it.
Good Story: Well, I will have to admit, I thought it was a rather original story, even if I have some distant vague memory of having seen or read something like it before. They even continued to build on the story and not just let it drag on. I liked how not only did the young learn from the old, but the old learned from the young.
Good Acting/Well Known Actors: All I have to say is...Michael Pitt, William Hurt, Sigourny Weaver, Joaquin Phoenix, and Bryce Howard. Not in any specific order.
Plot Twists (Surprises): Without spoiling anything, I have to admit that there were some surprises in the movie that most in the audience didn't see coming.
Now for my main criticism. I think that if they hadn't hyped the scariness of the movie, more people would have liked it more. Whoever was in charge of the advertising focused too much on what comprised very little of the movie. So, don't go looking for scary, and I think you will like it.

The acting in this movie was great. The actors did their part in this movie. And very well I might add. The way Night portrayed his monsters was fairly decent. He made me jump. I was on the edge of my seat!
Until the dude (I forgot his name because well... it's not important anymore.) said it was all farce. After that I said, "What's the point? The monsters aren't scary now. It's just guys in costumes." Although it's a movie and they were always men in costumes, now it's people in costumes playing people in costumes.
Oh, but Night doesn't want you to lose interest. He places mr. retard in a room and makes you forget about him for a while and so when a monster reappears, it's meant to scare you. It was either him or some elder trying to end Bryce Howard's journey to modern civilization.
Predictable. I predicted a set up. I predicted the "Towns" as regular cities, and I predicted the reappearance of the monster as a person in a costume. Come on, is he gonna make it so the people made a one in a million shot and make up stories that became true? Is this Urban Legends?
I liked the beginning and I liked the VERY end. WHne she said, "I got the medicine." Or "- no wait I think she said that. Doesn't matter. Short cut abrupt endings I like because well, nothing else is really going to happen. The middle and some select parts in the beginning were pretty lame because I don't like it when NOTHING HAPPENS.
Now, I'm the last person to ever badly judge a movie. I want to see Catwoman. I don't think it'll be too bad. I felt the same way with The Village. As many flaws a movie might have, as bad as a movie can get, I only think badly of it if the director is some over-rated dude who thinks since his last hit was a dud that he'll come back strong with another. WRONG! Night said he thought this was going to be great and that everyone will love it. Pish tosh.
Terrible.

This movie was horrible. It was barely kept afloat, if only for the good acting. When the twist came at the end the entire audience in the theatre booed the movie and walked out. I want my 6 dollars back!

I thought as far as the story goes, it was ok, now before you get pissed I have reasons. I think the reason why we all were pissed, was because yet again, the trailer told us: horror, adrenaline rush...but it turned out otherwise. But I thought that as far as the way it was writtin, I liked it even though 3/4's into the film it dissapointed me, but it was ok I give the village 6/10

Ok, just seen the village and lets say the acting was good, the story line in general was good, but as someone mentioned earlier they missed the part that was hyped about the most...the actual 'horror'!
